"The Final Battle (Part Four)"

At first, I wasn't sure that I liked the depiction of Steve in the last panel. It has really grown on me, however... now, I think it's pretty darned cool.

Olan's thoughts for this strip:
Every single Loaded Dice strip up until now has led up to this final moment... so naturally, I'm prolonging things with a bit more of a cliffhanger.

For the record: this chapter was based very heavily on a real life tabletop session. Like this comic, that session literally came down to one single roll of the dice. At this point, the tension in the air was pretty palpable.

Tune in next time to see the exciting conclusion to this fight! Same bat time, same bat channel!

Script for this strip:
Steve (narrator): "The mage actually manages to score a lucky hit with his staff, but pays dearly for the blow."
Jhim: "Hurk!"

Ray (sarcastic): "Come join the rest of us over here, lying in our own drool."

Steve (narrator): "Ladan manages to stabilize Aranion, but the Ice Haunt then unleashes his icy power on the priest, who crumples, helpless, to the ground."

Tim: "It's all up to you, Amy!"
Brad: "Come on!"

Steve (narrator): "Dalana lands yet another fiery arrow, but the Ice Haunt backhands her into a corner. It is all the ranger can do to keep her feet."
Dalana: "Uh!"

Rich: "Aw, man... we're one hit from a TPK!"
Steve: "So you are. Aranion and Jhim are unconscious. Faustus and Ladan are frozen. Dalana is barely standing. On the bright side, the Ice Haunt looks pretty beaten up, himself."

Steve: "Ouch. Definitely a hit, and definitely more damage than she can take. Amy, Dalana has to get an arrow off before his attack, or this adventure is at an end."

Steve: "Roll for initiative."
