Good choice. Black Cauldron - nice "deep cut", there.

I may just start a monologue, and see what happens.

Subject: Your Top Disney Movies?

Just a for fun topic... give me your top five Disney movies. Note that this is extremely tough for me, as I love me some Disney.

1. The Lion King (best villain song of all)
2. Toy Story (but Toy Story 3 is excellent, and it makes me cry every freaking time)
3. The Princess and the Frog (love the music, love the princess, second best villain song)
4. Mulan (stirring music, nice plot)
5. The Jungle Book (a classic, bittersweet at the end)

Sadly, I left so many deserving titles off the list...

So, what are yours?

Subject: Top menu broken for you?

It has been brought to my attention that the top menu of the site is broken for a good number of users. For instance, if you mouse over "Interactive", nothing happens... you don't get the Forum, Chat, Contact Us, etc pages.

This is due to the "new and improved" Internet Explorer 10. IE10 is causing issues all over the web - for instance, at my primary place of employment, we have had to install Chrome for use with our payroll software and our support site for our main ERP software, as IE10 has broken the websites for both.

However, you can still use the Inn without having to resort to Chrome, Firefox, or another browser. The answer is "Compatibility Mode".

Look in the address bar (where you see http://www.rdinn.net). To the right of the bar are a couple of icons - a magnifying glass, a down arrow, a torn piece of paper, and a curled arrow.

Click on the torn piece of paper. The page reloads in compatibility mode, which allows you to see the site in pre-IE10 goodness. The menu now works.

I plan to replace the menu shortly, but for now, use this trick to get around.

Subject: my two bits

I thought that this was perhaps the best Superman movie ever made.

The instant weakness seemed a bit over the top, and the damage to Metropolis was indeed catastrophic... but if Superman hadn't been there, would it not have been worse?

I was a bid unsure about Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Never though of Lois as so... perky. But Adams did a really nice job, I though.

All in all, the movie had a different vibe than previous Superman films, but I don't think that was a bad thing.

Was certainly better than the most recent whiny, emo Superman where the plot was "Lex Luthor is going to make an inhospitable rock and destroy the rest of the land! Baahhahahha! All he ever dreamed was of living on a barren speck too small to even call a wasteland! That's show the rest of the world!"

Guuh.

We have a colored strip. This puts three in queue, counting the two guest strips I already have in hand.

I want to build up a few more, get a solid process going with Yanamari, so that I can make sure that we are updating on a regular schedule.

But it is coming.

Subject: well...

The movie is probably not going to do well with the masses. There is some serious thought provoking stuff going on, and in some respects, it's as hard core sci-fi as it gets.

But I stand by my opinion. This is a superb film.

Topic: Oblivion
Subject: Oblivion

So, I went to see this movie this past weekend as a date activity with my wife.

I honestly had low expectations. I wanted to like it, but was prepared to be disappointed. I've seen some less than glowing reviews, and some people at the ballpark tried to talk my wife out of it.

Thing is, there wasn't another movie currently out that really grabbed us, and whacko though he may be, Tom Cruise is a quality actor. So we stuck with Oblivion.

We left the theatre with mixed opinions. There is a twist within the twist that is already basically spelled out in the various commercials for the movie. This second twist broke my wife's supension of disbelief and lowered her opinion of the movie. It had the opposite effect on me; I found it to be positively brilliant. Then again, I love serious science fiction, and this is one of the best treatments of pure science fiction that I have ever seen in mainstream film.

If you are looking for a summer popcorn action flick, you won't care for Oblivion. It does have action sequences, and they are really well done, but they are not the focus of the movie.

Personally, I found Oblivion to be one of the best movies I have ever paid to see in the theatre. It was truly refreshing to not know what was going to happen before it happened. There was a sufficient amount of world building done to really make the story believable, and the acting was absolutely top shelf. Effects were superb.

This is the kind of movie that had you talking about it afterward, discussing the plot points, the second twist, the after effects, etc. Very like Inception in that regard.

If you like sci-fi even a little, go see this movie.

I'm an old codger. I resisted 3E (heck, 2E is *still* my system of choice), but came to be able to play and enjoy D20 (3E/3.5E).

I hated 4E from day one, and that never changed. I always felt like it was a MMORPG on paper.

The 5E stuff looks promising. I'll be interested to see where this goes.

Tann, I think that you mean "Myth Breakers".

From what I understand, Alacrity has written several scripts for MB, but real life has prevented Bromern from being able to draw them.

Am I wrong?
