I figure that Amber's bladder is empty, so no more pee yet.
As for freaking out? The evil GM says that this is a GREAT time to freak out!

This is a perplexing situation, to say the least. Clearly fighting is not the way to go, unless we have the Maximus blessing (whatever that is).
I wonder, what did Dapple pick up on?
And what the heck do we do?

Version, shmersion. If you can tell the story and hide the mechanics from me, you are doing it right.
Yeah, I'm a dyed in the wool 2E fossil, but I enjoy D20 games (verson 3.x) just fine (though I still hate some specific rules). I haven't gotten into 4E yet (ever?), but see paragraph one above.

I LOVE the idea of a D&D game from the monsters' perspective! I enjoy the Goblins comic (though I do admit that I usually read them a few at a time), and have wanted to run one of these games, myself.
As for the avatar - Grugg has too much time on his hands, as evidenced by his stalking of a userless avatar.

There is the smell of gasoline, but I would not call it a stench. You have to remember that it's been as many as ten days since this pileup; any spilled gasoline would have evaporated by now.

Topic: Zombies in Chicago Subject: from bad to worse
October 26, 2014
Intersection of Cornelia and Halsted - 12:25 PM
After distributing the weapons and ammuinition found within the police car, the survivors make the decision to continue on foot. The logic is certainly sound; neither tools nor shelter to conduct repairs seem to be at hand, and with the size of the city of Chicago, it seems likely that there will be other chances to obtain transportation. For now, the medicine at the Save Rite remains the first priority.
With more than a little trepidation, the party sets out, single file, headed east into the intersection and around the pileup.
The crash site itself is a riot of twisted metal, broken glass, and shredded fiberglass. As you approach, both the buzzing of flies and the stench of death become extremely prevelant; soon, the source of both is revealed in the bloated, rotting corpse of a driver of a red Mustang. The fact that not only these vehicles, but that a dead man with a chunk of his head missing, could be sitting here in the autumn sun with no one intervening is yet another jarring sign that civilization as you all know it may have, in fact, come to an end.
As the group rounds the far end of the pileup, putting themselves mostly across the intersection, they notice motion to the north, further up the intersecting street (Halsted). Three doors up stands what was a boutique gift shop; the vast majority of the glass storefront has been broken out, leaving the contents of the shop exposed to the elements. A figure steps out of the store, pauses, then shrieks at the sight of the survivors. It tears off at a dead run for the group, shrieking all the way.
Worse yet, answering shrieks come from the south. Three more figures appear from various buildings and alleys, and all three likewise head for the survivors at full speed. It is clear that in moments, the party will be attacked from two directions.

Topic: Continuing Where We Last Left Off Subject: this *is* Arien we are talking about
The nightmare scene continued to worsen; apparently, no one would be waking from this horrid dream anytime soon. Just as Arien had feared, the mutilated priests rose to attack. It fleetingly occurred to the knight that it was quite possible that the priests had dismembered one another while under the influence of this puppet master. The thought roiled his stomach.
Kilgim began chanting in a manner that Arien recognized; the dwarf was seeking the power of his god to remove the hold on these priests, or at the least, to drive the abominations back from the party. However, he would need protection while he completed the chant. Aside from being able to directly threaten whoever (or whatever) was controlling the corpses, it seemed to Arien that his best option was to defend Kilgim while he attempted his task.
"Is there any way to tell where she is?" Arien called as he moved to take a defensive position by the dwarf priest. "We need to stop her to stop these attacks!"
With that, Arien prepared his flaming blade to attack any of the animated priests who came close enough, with the intent on protecting Kilgim while he tried to turn them. It was a horrible, grisly task, but the knight did his best to distance the concept that these were people; now, they were simply threats, and must be dealt with as such.

Topic: Zombies in Chicago Q&A Subject: nightstick?
Actually, sunow, the weapon you described in your post is typically referred to as a baton. It is usually considered to be a more "advanced" weapon than the nightstick (aka Billy club), but note that a baton really only deals subdual damage. It is more used against pressure points and such to take an opponent down for the purposes of cuffing them.
A nightstick, on the other hand, is shaped more like an off-center letter T, and is mainly used to crack skulls. This is what I had in mind for the police car, and is honestly more of an effective weapon against zombies.
Here's an illustration for you.

Topic: Zombies in Chicago Q&A Subject: FYI
Of the entire group, Murph is the very best equipped to use a gun. Mac and Alaster are just behind him.
Mac's .357 is his personal firearm, so I would assume Murph and Alaster will divvy the other two (at least until you guys come up with yet another firearm, so that Mac's can become a true sidearm). The Browning (from the bar) packs a little more punch, the FN (from the police car) has a better rate of fire.
What does that mean? You guys tell me what's the most effective way to outfit yourselves.

The pileup in the intersection would prevent a vehicle from continuing down Cornelia, but the group can navigate it on foot.
Note that Alaster is the only other person in the party (aside from Murph and Mac) who knows how to shoot. Not saying others can't use a gun, just be prepared for penalties to hit. Are those worth keeping zombies out of melee range?
You tell me.
Murph can get this car running, but he'll need tools and time to work on it.
