Thanks to the animated series, kzin are indeed canon (of course, there are those that will dispute this, but most take the kzin as "good" material from TAS).

Yes, the timeline had to be changed a bit - no Angel's Pencil, for instance - but the feel of the kzin is really unchanged. They work well in the Trek universe, I think.

Lyskhala - welcome back! I can't wait to see what you do with Hemlos. You and Eol probably need to get together much like Avrielle and Stu are doing. How has the budding romance between Mac and Chantelle developed?

The kzin is a favorite NPC of mine - I play him. Let's just say that he's found life under a female department head to be... interesting. Read his bio if you want to get into his head a bit.

I have updated Raditz' background to include what we had from STPBeM's bio entry.

Guys, we are very close - I need to fill the CEO spot, and I believe we are then ready to go.

You are correct - it does stand for assistant Chief Medical Officer.

Captain Blair is very hands-off; he's a delegator. If the job is done, and done correctly, he doesn't care how you do it - he trusts the departments to know their specialties better than he ever could.

So the question really is, will he work out with Doctor White?

It's not at all unusual for the counselor to be aCMO. However, it's also not at all unusual for the counselor to be attached to medical, but operate "outside" of it. Whichever way you guys (and your characters) prefer it is fine by me and the captain.

Mercury is with the rest of the party members, plus a acouple assorted crewmembers, plus a couple other passengers, in the common passenger berth with four TDF soldiers (one of which being the red-hired soldier attacked by the bothan).

For the time being, it would be trivial to cut through the bindign chain that liks the two (thik similar to handcuffs). Of course, they will still have rings on each hnd tht will need to be removed, but that would give mobility.

There are another four passengers not affiliated with our game in the berth.

With no time to do anything but react, Caise closes the ditance between himself and the would-be murderer with frightening speed. In less time than it takes for Burukt to squeeze the trigger, the emerald beam of the jedi's lightsaber strikes unerringly, knocking the rifle from the soldier's hands in a shower of sparks, and sending him crashing against the far bulkhead.

Even in his crumpled state, the treacherous bothan does not hesitate. In one smooth motion, he draws a blaster pistol and simultaneously keys his commlink. "I am attacked!" he shouts. "Shadoran has allied with the prisoners and a jedi! They seek to take back the ship! Backup needed at once!"

As he regains his feet, he begins firing madly!

Stardate: 2366.10.19
USS Discovery, turbolift 2 - 0935

The hatch hissed open, revealing the interior of the lift. Noah stepped inside to be greeted by the familiar yellow-skinned visage of the engineer, N'doog.

"Mornin', Captaindude!" the catullan exclaimed.

Captain Blair returned the greeting and ordered the lift to the bridge with a grin. The engineer's... unique speech pattern never seemed to fail to invoke that response.

As the decks blurred by, Noah found himself strolling down memory lane once more...

***************

Noah keyed the intercomm. "Blair to engineering. Mister N'doog, please report to my ready room."

=/= Engineering here! =/= The reply came. =/= Right on, Captaindude.. I'm on my way! =/=

The captain shook his head. Protocol had seemed so important in the past, but the engineer coming to visit seemed oblivious to it - and for some reason, it didn't matter one whit.

The Discovery was now three days out of the Gavin system, and Noah had had enough time to go through some of the records. Not long after the call, the door chime sounded. =/= Captaindude! You wanted to see me? =/=

"Come in," Noah replied, and the doorway hissed open, admitting the catuallan.

"Ensign," Blair began, "have a seat. I have been reviewing your service record. It would seem that all of your superior officers have been of the same opinion - you are an excellent engineer. Furthermore, you were invaluable to the mission on Gavin III; without your unique perspective, we might not have put togther the mystery of the molecular changes in our equipment. Quite simply, the mission may well have failed without your contributions."

The engineer seemed quite pleased by the positive words. "Whoa. Like thanks for the praising there Captaindude," came the reply. "Glad to be of service to the service if you catch my drift. You know, they sometimes say you got to think outside the box, but I figure that sometimes you got to leave the room entirely. Dig?"

Noah shook his head slightly in an effort to clear the effect that Bob's speech sometimes had on him. That the engineer was a genius could not be doubted, but sometimes, his comical manner of speaking could be so difficult to follow!

"The praise is well earned, ensign," Blair told him with a smile. "Although I will admit, it can be difficult for the rest of us to understand exactly what you are saying."

"Yeah, I get that a lot," Bob answered. "People need complicated and I like to keep it free and easy. But if I ain’t calling you dude, then I ain’t respectin you. Captaindude."

Noah supressed a chuckle while trying to imagine himself calling a superior officer "Captaindude" - and meaning it as a mark of respect.

"At any rate, Ensign N'doog, I called you here for a reason. I know that you have already been cited for your service on Gavin III, but I think that this would go well with it." With that, Noah produced a small, hollow pip and placed it on the desk in front of the ensign. "Computer, record. By the authority invested in me by the United Federation of Planets, I, Captain Noah Blair, hereby promote Ensign Bt... Btx... Ensign Bob N'doog to Lieutenant, Junior Grade."

If N'doog had taken offense (or even noticed) Noah's difficulty at pronunciation, he completely hid it.

"Hey! Another dot! Righteous! This is totally awesome, Captaindude. Tier’s gonna freak! Just me cruising up that chain of command! Not that I want your job there, Captaindude. Unless they gave me a ship with no ray beamers and photon blaster thingies. But hey!" Bob pinned the pip on his lapel with a smile, "My Mom is gonna love this!"

***************

The lift doors opened, ending Blair's reverie. He stepped onto the bridge, followed by Lieutenant N'doog, who took a now customary place at the engineering station.

Captaindude, reporting for duty! he mused with a grin.

I have most of the NPCs at least stubbed in on the roster. If I don't get some response soon from my multiple recrutiing tendrils, we'll go with NPCs in the open positions and fill them as we can - perhaps through use of "reality editing", if need be.

It doesn't take the TDF overlong to get the engines up and running again, though only at a reduced capacity. As a result, the flight to Tanaab takes close to three hours - a truly enjoyable time for those in the passenger berth. Captain Dulo himself is never brought into the berth, a fact that is not lost on anyone present.

Damanil's commlink crackles to life, though it is the brodcast channel, not anything directed at him. He learns that the Kul Kura has been placed into a holding position just outside of planetary orbit, and that the pssengers will now be offloaded. Indeed, as he listens to the traffic, most of the soldiers are offloaded, as well.

On the other side of the captive crew, Burukt casually stretches. The Bothan "soldier" knows that there may never be a better time; this fool of a human actually believed that he could force his way in on the Dulo bounty!

The red-haired man seems preoccupied with something over the commlink; having grown tired of the inane chatter, Burukt had already muted his. He grins wolfishly and aims his blaster rifle at the man's back. An "accidental" discharge at point blank range cannot miss, and the unfortunate use of deadly force to quell the "rebellion" of the passengers will remove any would-be witnesses.

No eye in the room processes what is about to happen, but one individual "sees" the furry finger close around the rifle's trigger. Caise is seated nearest to the bothan, and has a moment to react before the red-hired soldier is shot in the back.

Sure, I don't see why not!

A word of warning - I don't have a copy of Natalie's bio. Captain Backup (aka Eol Fefalas) had copies of many, but not of everything. Keely and Raditz wwere the only PCs affected, but we also lost detail on some pretty fleshed-out NPCs.

I have made my first post in the new ST thread. Hold off on any posts for now; I have a couple more to make before I turn it loose.

We still need to fill a couple of VERY IMPORTANT slots. Yeah, we can go NPC if need be but I'd rather have warm bodies. So if you know someone who might do well, why haven't you forced them to join yet???
