Subject: Brom...

Alright, I have some questions Brom...

"What’s your poison?” She drawled, eyeballing Peacekeeper with an appraising look. “And what’s your sign, sugar?”

I have no clue what to answer, my first instinct is to be cocky about it, since that's just her style, but second instinct tells me that would just be a bad idea...so what would my sign be? I have no idea what it is, but I'll add it to my post when I get my answer...I'll leave it as I have it now, until I can figure out what my poison is, and also what my SIGN is...Peacekeeper already dislikes her, because of lots of reasons but wants to kill her for calling her sugar. *shivers* hate it when girls do that.

Peacekeeper was lost in thought when she heard Firewind's words and was drawn back to reality. Her thoughts had been stirring since she witness the first duo exit the van and enter the building.

“I’m not going to be any use with this,” he sighed with a tone that carried a little more edginess than he might have wished. Looking up at Peacekeeper he shook his head. “I’ll just as likely hit Croaker, or Bull’s Eye, if trouble happens. Here, you take it.”

She looked at him in a quizzical manner, as she replied "well you'll need a weapon, take my SMG for this run. You can't go in there unarmed." she tilted her head giving him a gaze that a mother would give a son she should know better.

As soon as his words had finished, he shoved the shotgun into her hands and let go, forcing her to grip it. He didn’t look at her again as he bent to unzip his reactimesh bag, and began to retrieve various plates of armor, a helmet, and more armor. After he’d removed all of it from the bag, the medtech zipped it once more, and moved it aside. He was more than adept at strapping the medical armor to his person in a timely manner, and was half way finished before he caught Peacekeeper’s quizzical eye.

“If that place is half as dangerous as Bull’s Eye eluded, I’ll be damned if I’m going in with just the armor plates in my jumpsuit between me and whatever’s flying around. You’ll thank me later, and though I might draw some attention, at the very least I’ll be protected.”

She could not believe he would do anything to stand out in these neck of the woods. Jaimy shook her head lightly but replied "Knowing Bull's Eye, it will be dangerous, if hell breaks loose. If we mind our own business and don't say something that'll offend anyone we are good. Only speak when spoken to, and be sure to not stare at anyone. We can't afford people in these parts to start questioning our motive in the place. Old friends reunited. We have to play it cool, as if we've been here many times in the past." she fell silent for a short moment as she tried handing him her SMG.

Firewind had been rather uncomfortable with the silence, and as he finished with the straps that completed his armor he tried to strike up conversation, for which Peacekeeper was thankful.

“You don’t seem the type to be reliant on anyone, Peacekeeper.” Looking up towards the ceiling so he could strap his helmet on, Firewind continued. “I’m not meaning this rudely, but what keeps you and Croaker together? You’re like polar opposites…”

Jaimy couldn't help but laugh softly, not because of the question, but because she was used to hearing that question. A smile lined her lips "What can I say, way back when we met, it was fate that brought us together. Hard work kept us that way, but most importantly, it's the fact that we keep business where it is needed, and keep our relationship out of the business. It's a hard relationship to explain, but opposites attract. I find his lifestyle to be quite mysterious compared to mine. I don't ask about his jobs, he don't ask about mine. It's a simple relationship to us, but most think us complete opposites, but in reality we aren't all that different from each other. We're both alive, both happy, both have jobs that keep us away for days on end. Depends on how you look at the situation. I could be as reliant on people as I need to be, but we can't deny when something like this happens." she shrugged off the rest of her answer as she jumped out of the van. It had been exactly 6 minutes since Croaker and Bull's Eye had left which was their cue to enter.

Peacekeeper watched at Firewind opened the hatch of the van and exited behind him. Abandoning the warmth of the van she jumped down into the water filled streets and felt a rush of cold and dampness rush upon her. She however, did not make a face, she was expecting it, and didn't really mind it so much as most did. Jaimy was always content when it rained, she thought the sensation was always a bonus when stalking people, and made moments like these more intense. Yet enjoying the rain, she followed Firewind's lead and jogged across the road careful to avoid stepping in any large puddles along the way. The bounty hunter had followed her companion inside, keeping close enough to show they were together in this place. Yet her gaze towards him, showing those around that he was perhaps a Trauma Team Tech, and he was in town to rest up, but either way, he had met up with a friend; Peacekeeper.

Those who were seated at tables enjoying their drinks to the left of the door paused to stare, some laughing and pointing, others raising questioning brows and making unheard comments to their companions. Keahi didn’t care. To them, he’d appear to be a Trauma Team Tech, one of those who arrived in an AV-4 at the scene of battle where some lucky sod had broken his Trauma Team Card to collect on the five hundred a month expense in order to have the cavalry arrive and save their skin. Keahi was hoping they’d think he’d just gotten off work, or that his crew was taking a break. When no one really made a move to interfere, he felt the tension in his shoulders lessen a bit, Peacekeeper could tell when they left the van that he was tense. When tense it wasn't smart to storm anyone and she made a note of how he moved and she flashed him a soft smile shared between friends who had not seen each other in years.

Scanning the room carefully she led the way to a table where she could keep an eye on their friends. Silently she studied those around her as Firewind joined her, she smiled some and was about to strike up casual conversation when a girl wearing a hot pink micro-mini and a white halter top approached carrying a tray tucked under one arm. Her green hair was wild and looked like it had been cut by a three year old. She had tattoo sleeves and more tattoos around her visible belly button as well as a pierced navel. Her nose was pierced as well as her ears with a chain running between the two.

“What’s your poison?” She drawled, eyeballing Peacekeeper with an appraising look. “And what’s your sign, sugar?”

When Jaimy had caught sight of this woman she wanted to just strike her dead on the spot for the way she carried herself. She had noticed that she was being eyeballed, but she smiled smugly and waited for Firewind to reply, hoping he'd know the usual drinks people ordered in these parts yet not crossing her fingers. Peacekeeper studied the woman as she called her sugar and had to bite her tongue to prevent from creating a scene. Instead she answered calmly "Sorry Lass, I'm taken" she didn't answer the question asked, but skipped the chase. Her hand instinctively fell to her hip where she had holstered her weapon. Jaimy was in no mood to deal with this type, but had to do everything in her power to keep her cool to allow their plot to go over smoothly.

Subject: An encouraging plan...

Jaimy listened carefully to everything that was being said. She kept her gaze on Croaker until he had taken the seat beside her own. Peacekeeper smiled ever so softly to him as they leaned against one another, not out of support, but more out of affection.

Carefully watching as the vehicle had carried them to their destination. Croaker gave her hand a good squeeze, and she smiled up at him as he made his way to the front to take a gander. Soundlessly she shot a gaze to the building in which Bulls Eye had described as their destination. It looked like a nightmare to her, but she was a bounty hunter and was ready for anything that the place would offer. The name itself sounded rough around the edges 'MetalStrom". It almost dounded as if the name had been pulled out of an ancient book.

Soundlessly she drank all the voices, and all the words that made up their plan. Tilting her head slightly and nodding she checked to make sure her weapons were stocked up yet well hidden. She knew that Firewind and herself would have to go in roughly 5 minutes after Croaker and Bulls Eye went in. Turning her gaze towards Firewind she nodded to her new partner. Thoughts ran through her mind about a possible plan B, but she prayed that they wouldn't need one. A thought occured to her, that if things didn't roll as smoothly as they hoped, there probably wouldn't be time to even consider what their plan B had been.

Peacekeeper had listened carefully to Croaker's words, and she nodded to him, yet remained in the back of the van. She hadn't moved since she had returned to the van before splitting up. Yet as Croaker moved past her she reached for his hand giving it a gentle squeeze, which he would understand as clearly as if she'd spoken the words "Be careful my love". When Bulls Eye and Croaker left the van, she glanced down at the phone in her possession and she looked at the time. It was 3:50am, and they would give Bulls Eye and Croaker 5 minutes before they would follow them in and order a drink and possibly some food. The previous mention of food had caused her stomach to turn and begin growling. Drawing in a deep breath she shook away the thoughts and turned her gaze to Firewind "Well I'm ready to get this done." she nodded to her companion and awaited his reply, and for the next five minutes thoughts thundered through her mind.

Subject: Someone to help

With the Preacher gone that left only the four of them and it was not a good number in Jaimy’s mind. Her thoughts shifted to Croaker like they had so many times since she had seen him at the meet. She loved him make no mistake but in truth he had been his blunt block headed self in the lab with Jack, and it could have caused Piper to kill them. It would be up to her from now on to help keep his temper and his nack for being too blunt under control. As much as she loved him she still needed to be Peacekeeper the Bounty Hunter. With that choice made her thoughts were brought back to the present with Croaker’s next words.

“Well, that my tribe brother is the million Euro buck question. The way I see it is like this first thing we need to do is dump this ride and get new wheels it’s a sure bet that its description is posted.
Second we need a crash pad until we hear back from Jack as to our target.
Third we need to do an inventory of all gear, weapons, ammo and Euro we have between us to see exactly where we stand. With Preacher gone its just the 4 of us, forget Jack and his I can’t help you crap, its up to the 4 people in this van to do whatever we have to stay alive. That means we need to combine everything we all own and we need to share contacts as well. So next question anyone got any contacts that can help us out myself I am sad to say only have Scribe and the rest are enemies. Its up to you three, any favors owed, any friends that would help us out.”??

Then Croaker’s brother chimed in

“I know a fixer, Croaker,” he said in his gravel-filled voice. “Name’s Maverick—small time, probably won’t be able to do much for us, but if we’ve the Euro he might be able to hook us up provided I can get in touch with him. Got some boostergang connections as well, but can’t guarantee anything major there. Also have a hook up with an exec from EBM, but I don’t see how that could help us right now. Aside from that, I’ve got a little over a hundred Eb.

“Now, as far as replacin’ this barge we’ve got a couple of options: steal a new ride, in which case we’re just going to be on the radar again, get a cab—which will cost us some dough—or rent a vehicle—which will cost us more dough. What’ll it be?”

Its was time for Peacekeeper to add her two cents so she did.

“I know a Solo who maybe could help us out, maybe lets us borrow a car or something he taught me guns and stuff, let me call him and see."

Her cell to her ear she made the call.

“Matt its Jaimy I need your help”

As they started to move the body of Mery Deth to Jack’s car Jaimy was all ready to finally be moving hopeful that things between her lover and Spiff would work out but the man's next words caught her by surprise. As he talked the tension rose and the young bounty hunter backed away her hand close to her gun ready to defend her man at all costs.
When finally Spiff stopped talking she knew that Croaker would responed with violence as he and this guy just did not get along, but was surprised when all he did was speak.
Her love for him in that moment was ten fold, for he had done well.
With Spiff clearly now on his own she smiled at him as they walked outside, letting him know her man had won this war of words.

Subject: Silence is golden...

The young bounty hunter listened carefully to the buzzing of conversation that surrounded her. Every bit of information was crucial to remember in this moment, so they didn't end up messing anything up in their plan. Nodding occasionally, she smiled softly as her leg was much better after being properly tended to for her injury. Calmly she remained by her love's side listening intently to the plan and nodding to him to show her approval of the plan. Words were not needed in such a time as this, for her mind was moving a million times a minute.

A mask of serenity shielding her features from being read as she stood near her man. The plan being thrown towards their boss, she waited for the orders to be carried out. Jaimy had half imagined she'd have been the one disguised as Merry Death, yet slightly disapointed she waited eager to know their final plan of action. When it had been decided her silence had been broken as she spoke words that none of them wished to hear. Drawing in a deep breath she asked calmly "Should this mission fail, what is our back-up plan going to be, so we can all make it out alive, or at least raise the chances of us all coming out alive, with as little injuries as possible." she fell silent. She knew her place was not to speak in the presence of men discussing business. It was frowned upon for a woman of low stature to discuss plans of war with men. However, she was no mere woman, she was a bounty hunter who was stronger than most men that she knew.

Jaimy rested her head on Croaker's shoulder gently, allowing them both the comfort of being close for the first time since the mission had started. It felt wonderful to be close to the love of her life, yet the pain was kicking in once again as firewind tended to her wounds. By the time she had finished, she had fallen asleep upon her mans shoulder, comforted by his presence. Jaimy smiled softly in her sleep which showed that she was at peace in the world of dreams.

Peacekeeper woke up as she felt Croaker leaving her side she seemed alert instantly. Noticing they were at their dropping point she was immediately wide awake, with no signs that she had even slept a wink. The assassin moved soundlessly to the side door where she and the love of her life would exit first as planned. Playing the numbers in her head of the odds each would face should the meeting end up in a game of wild fire. As Croaker had left the passenger seat, it was replaced in the blink of an eye with the ever watchful Preacher. Their wounds all having been mended by the wonderful med tech Firewind, they could all face the odds where such a thing to arise.

Peacekeeper remained near enough to Croaker, to show they were a team, but far enough to stay out of the way. The pair returned into the vehicle, and followed the pair of vehicles to the new location. Jaimy's mind always focusing on odds and certain things most people wouldn't notice. She knew they were at a disadvantage by numbers, but by skill they would be much closer to being at par. Their advantage was having been working together so long that they knew each others' reactions before they would occur; for the most part. Continuously playing scenerios in her mind, and mathematical problems, and accounting for weapons and speed, she plotted out several possible scenes.

The trip had taken them across town and she observed the streets taken, and what was nearby. Searching high and low for extra enemies. Her mind slowed when she noticed they had arrived in the college district. It was a neighbourhood she had always enjoyed visiting, and one she knew quite well. Her mind was at ease and she stepped out of the vehicle behind Croaker once again. She paced around the far wall of the room plotting, thinking and clearing her thoughts. In little over an hour, the cause of Merry Deaths' odd way of death had been revealed. The woman was only half paying attention until Preacher's words were spoken.

“Hey,” Preacher growled from his perch. “If that cocktail made a person smarter, more capable of solving problems, an’ better able t’ comprehend problems; would it make them smart enough t’ the point of organizing the Wild Things t’ where they’d become a problem for megacorps?”

In the moment such words had been spoken she thought to herself that perhaps Merry Death was simply attempting to test out the new drug, and a spy had noticed the effects. She would have been able to organize the Wild Things, and who knows how high it would boost a persons intelligence and how long would the effect last? Would the effects be permanent? Questions continued to dart through her mind as she listened subconsciously to what was being said in regards to their lives. It was old news that Peacekeeper's life were on the line, for it had always been so as a known bounty hunter/assassin.

Croaker was talking to Jack again, this time more intense than any of their previous conversations. It meant she should pay close attention to what was happening.

“Ok not sure if this is connected but we had a run in with a pair of cops earlier tonight. They had a warrant out for Peacekeeper on their mobile digireader and it had been placed with them by this Biotechnica place. Now why would they want her?”
Croaker paused
“Ok Jack Peacekeeper and I are in but as I see it we have 3 options open to us after we grab your buyer.
1st we combine forces and take them head on and try to destroy the corp, but that’s a big order and really depends on what type of force multiplier you got Jack with all your connections. The people here in this room, you included Jack, haven’t got the firepower to take a corp head on.
2nd we find something they want more then our heads, we get it and trade it for our lives but again we have to find that something before they find us. For that we gonna need a damn good net runner but I am sure you know more then one.
3rd we all separate, head to new city’s, take what we got and just disappear but in my experience that never works out very well and to be honest I really do not like this option as its harder for 2 people to hide then just one.”
A quick look to Jaimy to let her know he would go nowhere without her by his side.
“So Jack what do ya bring to the table as like you said we are all in this together and we are gonna have to share and share alike....”

The woman's eyes shot to those of the man she loved, and she nodded to confirm that she would not leave his side, nor would she allow anything to happen to him. Her heart leaped with joy as she smiled to the man at her side. She moved closer to the pair who spoke business and she stood firmly beside her man. The woman listened to Spiff's words about running away.

"No pay ain't my game any more than the rest of you here. But if this employer is as high up as you say, we'd be wasting our time trying to fight them. If they're this good, then we've already lost. The whole pickup was a setup and they only really want to make sure that there's no evidence of the drug on the market. They don't care about 'no scratch' or any of that crap. I'm sure our meet was her father with a sniper on his head anyway. We try to grab him and he'll be dead and we'll have to book it. I say we give them what they want. We drive to the meet, drop the girl out the back and book it out of there. This thing is better armor than what we're wearing, and the wheels will get us out of there a lot faster than my feet can. We're safest staying in and giving them the corpse. Make it look like we think we're at fault and we're too scared to ask for payment. Give them what they want and they probably won't even think we know enough to be a danger. What do ya say?"

The fantasy related plan had given her an idea. The bounty hunter turned to Croaker placing her hand on his forearm. A faint smile playing across her lips "What if we disguise a healthy 'merry death'. Have ourselves a bug to figure out everything that happens there. The rest will keep in touch and not be too far, but far enough to not be noticed. Everybody would keep in contact and we'll see what we can do to get more information within the walls. I could dress myself up as merry death, and take her place, disguise my voice to match hers. It wouldn't take much in order to pull it off." she shrugged off the rest of her idea and she waited patiently for a reply from either Croaker or Jack.
