Topic: Utan's back (again?), and ever angrier at RL
Subject: Let's try this (again), redux ...

I'm back (again) and way too tired, worn out, frustrated, and angry to re-live the past few miserable weeks by explaining them to anyone at all. No excuses, no justifications.

May I ask forgiveness from everyone involved in the games I play in? I was not able to show you the courtesy of notification that I have noticed myself expecting from everyone else.

And I offer my heartfelt apologies to those and others with whom I was communicating when I dropped out of sight (twice), For now, I hope that is sufficient, for it is quite honestly the best I can do at this time.

I will attempt (again) to update and post in all my games as soon as possible. Until that is accomplished (my priority for now), I will be in and out of the Inn only sporadically

I was perusing the "Santa Baby" posting game and happened to think of a site that brother Wyrmsting created some years ago. He's a Betty Boop fan, and created the site at the request of a friend of his, who also likes The Boop.

Subject: Utan's back (finally), and angry at RL

Just got home from the airport. I apologize to all for jumping out of sight so suddenly and for so long a time. Was called upon to help with funeral arrangements for someone Wyrm and I have become disenchanted with (oh, there's more to it than that ...).

I had only expected to be gone a few days and thought I could keep my end "game maintenance" and had asked Wyrmsting to keep mum if any questions were asked. Then RL bashed me on the back of the head and said "Pay attention! Here's what's gonna happen ..."

Right now, all I wanna do is forget I ever had this experience. I may discuss it at a later date but, for now, I am content with being thought of as unreliable and discourteous for not announcing my abrupt departure.

So, to all the DM's in all the games I am in:
1) -- I am extremely sorry and apologize to you all profusely.
2) -- I will contact each one of you to check my status in each game
3) -- I will update/post in all games in which I have been allowed to remain, as soon as I get some rest and can get my mind wrapped around the games again (tomorrow, hopefully).

I'll be on long enough tonite to post this and check e-mails, then it's to bed for me. Any necessary replies will wait until tomorrow.

Again, I do apologize.

When I use a friend's computer (which has a light-speed connection), it's even more frustrating to come back to my slow-@$$ dial-up connection.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!!
Subject: Okay, let's get moving

Pao looks to Percifeer for confirmation of his thoughts, but receives a shrug and grim silence in return. It might be frustration at being robbed of a certain amount of "personal retribution" on her part, but Pao couldn't be sure. He had learned, though, that when Percifeer was silent, she had a reason.

Turning to the vampire in the path of the party's return to the orphanage, Pao sighs. "Gentlebeings, please, I apologize for our attacks on you. We had no idea that you were on a mission of such import. I understand that you feel the need, or are are following directives, to return the princess to your lord."

"But since she is currently in our company, I will speak for her, since she cannot currently speak for herself. She has sworn an oath to aid us in our cause, which we have precious little time to complete. While I intend to hold her to that oath, I will not hold her against her will. Will you please return to your lord with this message?"

"We need rest, and our resting place is also a clue to our quest. Therefore we must stay there until our quest is complete. As I said, we have precious little time. With all due reapect to your lord, if the princess desires to return to her father instead of aiding us as sworn, we will allow her to do so, and will even escort her to him if necessary, but we will hear those words from her own lips. Surely, now that you know where she is, and who she is, the short amount of additional time she will spend away from her father, and with us, should not worry him unduly. I can, for a certainty, swear to you that she is in the company of others who have each sworn to protect her as one of their own."

"The natural enmity of my calling and your kind aside, I will violate the tenets of my faith insofar as to show how seriously we take that oath. I offer this to be held until her return to him ..." Pao reaches up and gently pulls the chain bearing the silver holy symbol of his faith over his head. He then pulls a glove from his belt pouch and drops the silver symbol into the glove. He then holds the glove contining the holy symbol out to the creature for it to take.

"I offer this as a symbol -- a symbol, not a gift -- to your lord to illustrate the veracity and seriousness behind my words. Please bear this to your lord with my message and our apologies and allow us to complete our quest."

Subject: Big Ole

“Crulgrin Shadebeard.”

Ole was standing near Thagovan, but looking elsewhere, when he heard the name. Why the name caought his attention, out of all the other names here, was an unknown to Ole, He didnt like unknowns. Shadebeard ... Shadebeard ,,, Crulgrin Shadebeard ... Crulgrin ... Shadebeard. Mentally searching the "bookshelves" of his organized mind, Old could find noquickly-found reference to the name. Right. Then the name was remembered from some research he had done, somewhere. And therefore, it was easily dismissed for the moment. He had other things to think aboutAdding another trail to follow for informationwould weaken his focus. And the two searches he had just voluteered for, this one and the one for the Library, may indeed be related, but they were as wide as he was willing to stretch that focus.

“I haven’t been a caver in some years, lad, but I do still have some o’ the skills yer party’s like to be needin’. Got no small share of experience in findin’ and bringin’ back small things what’s been lost neither.”

Good! Another who was good at finding things. It could be useful. Wait. 'finding and bringing back small things'? Ole shook his head, clearing the thought. When he got into a "tracing-mode", he saw things to investigate or question, seemingly everywhere, in everything. Save it for the search. He fingered the green runes dyed into the light tan trim of his brown cloak. The runes were dwarven, and represented concepts like, "search", "find", "track", "trace", "locate", "follow", "line", "retrieve", "vein", ... Vein? Vein of Silver? Silver! Kharox smite me for stupid! My staff! Ole spun on his heel and rushed for the stairwell to reach the upper entranceway, where he had dropped his staff before descending with the youngone. He hadn't wanted to catch the staff on something while descending and drop the child. He hoped fervently that it was still there.

[[ OOC: so do I ... ]]

When he returns, he is still more-than-slightly impatient to get going, evident in his stance, left-to-right shifting foot-to-foot, and his darting gaze.

Subject: Yet another for the roster ...

"STOP! Stop this panic at once!”

Ole turned to look at the speaker, whom someone in the crowd-turned-mob had named as Thagovan. Dressed in leathers and chains -- chains? -- and bearing a peace-hung battle-axe on his belt, his voice, though calm, carried with a force born of experience. But it was met with the resistance and belated fear of worried parents.

"I know you want to save your children. But you are none of you equipped or sober enough to deal with whatever is endangering them. I will go and find your young ones. But I need a few brave souls to help me. If we all go, the chaos will work against us!”

And from yet another coolly logical thinker: “But he is right! People! Listen to him! ” This one was a GemHound, but odd even for that profession. One eye, as far as Ole could tell, was an actual gem. It looked to be an emerald. Ole had known that some wore gems embedded in their skin, some in obvious places, some not. But to have replaced a useful organ with a gem was, even for them, unusual.

“You are all too drunk to deal with danger right now. We need order! I want all the parents who are missing a child to come to me. I will form groups to search the mushroom forest. Thagovan over there will go ahead with a group of strong men. The rest of you, come to me, and we will sort things out as fast as possible.”

Ah, good! The take-charge, logical thinkers were swaying the frantic mindset of the parents into calmer, more rational thought and structured action. For his own part, Ole speaks, but only after responses from three others before him, including, surprisingly, Loco FungiHammer himself. This would be a perfect opportunity to watch the cleric, to gain insight into his thinking and actions, and to glean, hopefully, some bits of knowledge from him ...

"Thagovan, add the name of Olegarn Stonesunder to your roster of those concerned enough to aid your effort! My hesitation was one of conflict. I happened on the child while in the mushroom forest on a quest for knowledge for the Grand Library. This is my strength and my skill, as a seeker of knowledge. But it took only a moment's thought to decide that these two searches are inextricably linked. The why of it I do not yet know, but I will apply all I possess, knowledge, skills, body, and mind to find out, to resolve this dilemma and keep it from happening again! I am ready to begin when you and your selected others are ready!"

Topic: When the Silence Breaks...
Subject: To meet with a Krosan

After his exchange with the Krosan and nodding when the Krosan agreed to meet Moto at the outskirts of the town, Moto turned to Gunther and the others.

"For one like him to venture out into territory populated by those he purports to despise shows, to me, a singular purpose of importance to him. I will meet and camp with him at the town's boundary. I think it's best, for now, to limit his contact with the others until I, or we, can prove mutual benefits. Perhaps I could persuade him to join his purpose and our own, to a mutual benefit. His skills as a warrior would aid our cause greatly and our own numbers might increase the success of his particular quest, whatever it is."

"I will meet you on the morrow, hopefully with good news. 'Til then, I'll wish the rest of you luck in your endeavors to obtain lodging."

Moto exits the Inn and glances right and left. Seeng the retreatng back of the Krosan, Moto turns to follow, glancing about as he walks to find and pick up small pieces of boards, wood sticks, any small- to medium-sized pieces of wood that could be used for a small fire.

[[ He'll not worry about tinder. He intends to start a fire using tindertwig to torch to wood. A little overkill in firestarting, but almost certain to start a fire with a minimum of effort. When he feels he has gathered enough for a fire without severely limiting his movement, he'll cease gathering and continue to wherever the Krosan stops. There, he'll start a fire, banked against any breeze or wind. He'll speak while setting the fire. ]]

"Brother, my name is Moto. Motolov Cogsnail of the Granitespire Clan. I am a worhipper and would-be priest of the Mighty Atlam. The companions I travel with are on a quest to find a well known and respected explorer of importance and reknown who had disappeard under mysterious circumstances and, hopefully, return him to the world. I have no doubt that yu know of the star-fall and the odd things occurring since that event. Surely you don't blame the other races for the fall of a heavenly body. They would be as responsible for it as you or I would, if it were possible."

"I admit to curiosity as to your solitary presence in a place such as this. What you deign to tell me is what you wish to divulge. No more, no less. I will ask no questions. But I believe that I can go so far as to offer you our aid. To join your quest with our own, for a mutual benefit."

Moto chuckles softly. "I apologize. The presence of another of my own kind brings out the talkative part of me. Some find it a little irritating."
