Topic: The Day They Woke Up on the Wrong Side of Reality
Subject: Some information is being held back, must know!

Ben sat and listened to the conversation that had been taking place, and mulled over what had been said. He felt that there was some information missing, and that Vorastrix wasn't telling them everything they needed to know. He needed more information.

"I would agree Galen, we should investigate 'The Roost'. However," I look to Irthos for verification, "it may not be wise for the six of us to all meander over there at once. Should we split into two groups and head over there by two alternate rountes? Or would you say that it should be safe enough to travel there. I am pressuming als getting up there would pose problems both physically and socially. It sounds like a place that is forbidden-to-outsiders protocal."

"If we are to split up then, I would like to get in on a cult meeting, perhaps I may be able to find some answers there, Sir Vorastrix, would that be possible? Even if I could not get in directly, eavesdropping from a hidden location would be enough." Ben asked, intent on doing this.

Subject: It's simple

"Though we have been told to draw it out into the open, let's aim to kill it while we are in there," Ben quietly told his friends, "use as much magic as you desire, I don't think there will be any chance of anyone catching a glimpse."

Ben half grinned, half smiled, he needed to allow those with magic to use their magic without anyone seeing, the fact that they would be hidden inside a barn while they fight was almost too perfect an opportunity to ask for.

"Prepare a medic just in case," he said to the townspeople, then turned to his friends, "I will head in first, follow behind and provide light, if I can draw it out to attack me, then that will be the signal to attack."

"Tell, me… are we all going in the one entrance way at once? Or are we staggering our assault or going in through multiple entrances?”

"Decide that for yourselves, I'm going in through the front, I need one person at least to light my way," he said.

Ben readied his shield and drew his sword, holding the shield up in preparation of being attacked and began to move into the barn slowly, he stayed cautious, and attempted to keep aware of his surroundings.

Subject: In need of a good plan.

“So we know that it tends towards the night. We also know that physical weapons of iron and steel have little effect against it, yet fire seems to do a tad. And it has the uncanny ability to strike fear into even the strongest of us...” Ray looked to Ben. “I would assume this howl is other-worldly, though it is loosely used. It must have been magical, for I know none of us here are cowards... except perhaps Owen and me.”

Ben grumbled at this, he was exactly fond of being afraid of anything, though his only real fear was large bodies of water. Ben was disgusted with himself that he was forced to run, and out of fear for all things. He made a fist, and resolved himself to being braver and more courageous from now on.

“Guys, I think I might know what it is. I could be wrong, but does anyone remember what a Yeth Hound does?” “It is an Outsider, from the Lower Planes, if it is a Yeth Hound.”

“It’s a creature with a solid body made out of the spiritual essence of its home plane. That means it can see in the dark fairly well and it probably never needs to eat or sleep.” “I don’t remember anything else about them other than their obvious ability to fly and scare.”

"Wait, your saying the thing can freaking fly!?" Ben blurted out suddenly, "this is going to require an interesting strategy to say."

“So what should we do with this information, assuming I’m right?” Owen asks.

Ben fell deep into thought, half listening to any ideas that might pop up, that could spark his creativity, however he wasn't allowed to much thought when the door opened.

“Apologies for the interruption,” Gordon says, realizing that he cut Owen off, “I just wanted to check what the plans for this evening are. Brad got bitten pretty badly last night so we’re making him stay behind to recover.” Gord looked at Ben, “How about you? You were bleeding pretty badly when they patched you up, how are you feeling this afternoon?”

Ben returned to his thoughts, a serious look on his face.

"I'm doing just fine, a little bit of blood loss isn't going to affect me too much, I am fairly sturdy as you can see," Ben reassured him.

Gordon left, but Ben could here some sort of disturbance going on outside. Out of habit he started to move to see what was happening, when another villager popped into the room.

"They've found it," he said, and vanished, leaving the door ajar in his wake.

"Lets go," Ben said shortly, running out to follow the villager.

They clearly had the advantage, and Ben knew that, however it seemed that he was the only one doing anything to it. Maybe his allies weren't focused enough, but no matter, he would have to depend on them while keeping the demon's attention. He entered a fully defensive stance, focusing more on dodging the enemies attacks rather then letting the armor do the work for him. Ben seemed to have all the aggression on himself as well. He growled and snarled at it, doing fakes on it while keeping careful to dodge, taunting it to come at him.

"Focus everyone, attack it with everything you got!" he commanded.

Subject: It's rap- I mean, It's RIPPING TIME!

(don't mind the title, I just felt like it, lol)

His cries repeated as he approached, punctuated by gasps for air to maintain his sprint. The hunting party exchanged glances, and then ran for their weapons, save the woman who brought her husband’s sword. Everyone watched the door nervously as someone opened it for the benefit of the collective curiosity. Without taking time to discuss the matter, Ben, Galen, Ian, and Jeremy, quickly drew their weapons and ran through the door, not knowing what they would find.

The man burst onto the street in front of town hall from an adjacent street. Hot on his tail, a large (we’re talking 5’ at the shoulder) black hound sailed through the air and sunk its teeth into the back of the man’s neck, throwing him to the ground with the Demon Dog on top of it. From this distance, those standing at the entrance to town hall could see the pained expression on the man’s face give away into unconsciousness.

One paw on the man’s back, the Demon Dog turned to regard the heroes, its dull red eyes glowing brightly in the growing dusk as torches and pitchforks rallied behind Ben and Jeremy.

After recollecting his thoughts, Ben immediately began issuing orders to his friends, and hopefully the citizens would be willing to listen as well.

"Ian get around around to its backside, I'm going to get it off that man, Jeremy, Galen, pull that guy away from the battle to safety and have someone tend to him, then join us in battle afterwards. Everyone else, cut off its escape and aid us as you can, don't let it get away!"

With that Ben proceeded to rush at the dog with his sword pointed forward, hoping to use enough force to knock it away from the man it had just taken down.

(Bull Rush, do your worst Sib's dice, I dare you!)

Subject: We'll be back, I think.

Ben stood and watched as Ray left, soon followed by Galen. He had been waiting for his opportunity to speak up and now was the moment of truth! He took a step forward and stood up taller then he usually liked to. He didn't really want to leave this town behind to live in fear of this monster that had been stealing their money making machines. However it would be better to take it on in a group then possibly by himself.

"Worry not mayor man! Though we cannot take care of this problem for you right away, we will return fully prepared to take on this beast," Ben reassured him.

Now that he had monsters on the mind he recalled that he had bought a blank book a few days ago to record any information on the monsters the group took on. He left the mayor with a wave and a smile and joined his friends outside on the cart and opened up his book to write in it. He pulled out his writing utensils and covered the few that they had actually encountered and fought.

Skeleton~
Turn Ons: Sharp Weapons
Turn Offs: Blunt Weapons
Notes: Aim for the head, possible to dismantle their arms to avoid taking hits.

Zombie~
Turn Ons: Blunt Weapons
Turn Offs: Sharp Weapons, Magic
Notes: Umm, ermm, moved by magic, kill it with magic.

With that set down, he closed the notebook and put it away in his bag, he knew there would be more to record as they travelled. Ben hoped that he would be able to fill out his book as much as possible. It was then that he turned to his friends to ask a question.

"Hey guys, I'm in need of a shield for the up coming battle, if I don't have enough to get one, might you all help me out?" he asked, "I'll most certainly pay you all back if you do, fufufu."

Subject: Suprise Dinner, Interruptions, and... rain, dreadful things.

“If I have left you wondering, I am Daisuke Sakamoto, after your western nomenclature. Please, sit. I am told that the five(/six) of you are seeking employment.” He smiled kindly at our reasonable confusion. As we took our seats, cross-legged, Mr. Sakamoto took his place at the head of the table. Almost immediately, a set of doors near the gazebo opened, revealing a couple servants carrying some trays. Within short order, the table was stocked with silverware (chopsticks for Mr. Sakamoto) and plates, and moments later, with food. It occurred to me to be surprised and even shocked, but the events between the gate and suddenly being invited to supper passed almost too quickly to protest.

Upon being offered a meal by surprise, Ben's mood quickly went foul. He disliked it when people sprung surprise meals on him, because it made him feel as if he had to eat something, yet didn't know if there would be anything that he would like on the table. He waited for the food to be placed and attempted to locate some steamed rice to steal. Ben took what he wanted from the table and stayed quiet for the rest of the night, so as not to impose his current mood on the rest of the table.

“Master Sakamoto, I give you my humble thanks for holding this wonderful dinner on such sort notice. You have accepted uninvited strangers into your wonderful home.” I start out. “You seem to be a man of great generosity, and will gladly accept any assignment that you have to offer. But sadly, I must also inform you that Me and my accomplice over here” as I bring attention too Ben, “will be leaving in about a week. We have an employer who has a job for us. So if you could, do you have anything that would be extremely temporary and short? I simply do not want to go back on my word to these people, and I so I cannot dedicate too much time to your cause. However, if you are willing, I will gladly undertake more tasks at a later date when I return.”

Ben waved at Sakamoto-dono as the attention was brought to him, however he was too busy stuffing his face with rice with a spoon to add anything to the conversation.

“What is it, Suzume?” Mr. Sakamoto asked.
“I apologize for my interruption, Grandfather, but father has just returned from his trip to the temple and he wants to talk to you. He says it’s urgent.” It was funny to hear such a formal tone spoken out of the little girl’s mouth.
“Very well, you may go, Suzume.” Mr. Sakamoto turned to address us as the girl ran back off through the garden. “I must apologize, but you will have to excuse me. I must see to my son.”

He had only been gone a few moments before he returned to his seat at the head of the table, no sign of what had passed on his face. “Now, where were we? I believe it is time to discuss your first assignment.”

"Is everything all right?" Ray ask master Sakamoto.

“Yes, thank-you for your concern,” Mr. Sakamoto responded with a nod.

Ben watched him leave with a less then menacing glare, and watched him come back curious as to what had been said in such a short amount of time, perhaps there was nothing for them to say.

“It would appear that Lady Nature has given us her warning not to tarry any longer. Very well, I have an employer who needs an escort for a shipment of supplies bound for the southern farms about a day’s journey out of the city.” Sakamoto drew a small scroll from a pocket and opened it. “A show of arms such as the ones you presented at the gate is usually enough to deter attack, so I wouldn’t expect much trouble, even from the rashest of bandits. The shipment is set to leave upon obtaining escort. Payment for this job is offered at seventy-five crowns apiece, should you choose to accept it, paid in full through the mediator—my business—upon the return to the city.” Deftly rolling the scroll, Sakamoto looked down the table at us on either side. “Do you accept this job?”

Ben almost leapt out of his seat and slammed his hands on the table in shock when he suddenly realized what Sakamoto-dono was talking about.

"WHAT!? It's going to rain!?" Ben almost yelled out loud.

He quickly walked around to the side of the table where he could escape, stopped and bowed towards Sakamoto-dono, making sure not to drop his head too low.

"Thank you for the meal Sakamoto-dono, you can count me in on the job, but I will be heading back first," he protested, "I really don't like the rain and I would rather not get caught in it."

He waved at his friends and had Suzume show him the way out, which then after leaving the residence, he bolted down the street towards the inn.

At the weapons shop, Ben wasn't too interested in buying anything, however he did look around at the different types of weapons just in case. He managed to spot a battle axe behind the sword rack, as well some great axes. He picked one up to get the feel for it. Naturally he knew how to use it, and he could remember his sensei's teachings on how to use it creatively as it was much different from a longsword. As much as he liked axes, he decided to just stick it out with the longsword he had with him, as it was much more familiar to him then the axe. He then joined the rest of the crew at the front desk to discover something else interesting in the shop.

A silence, punctuated by the sounds of metal striking metal from the back, drew out for a second, and then another, as this world came creepily closer to being based on a certain game. The man chuckled, “Never seen an elf before?” he asked.

"An elf you say? I guess your right, I've always imagined that an elf would be a bit bigger however," he commented, "he not that being small is bad or anything, it certainly has its perks."

Later back at the inn, Ben decided to come up with a few ideas on what they should accomplish next.

"We're going to end up being here for a week yes? It would be bad for us to just sit around all day everyday until the end of the week, we should find things to do, like say, a part time job!" Ben proposed to them, "Ray and myself may already have a job, but it won't be happening for awhile, so another job on the side shouldn't hurt, if we wanna find ourselves a job we should find the cities job board."

Ben pondered to himself if this world would have something like that, but then he realized there was someone here that could actually help them with information like that. He walked up to the front desk of the inn and ringed the bell to get the lady's attention.

"Excuse me, but would you happen to know where we can go to find ourselves some jobs in this city?" he asked her.

Subject: Master of Disguise

"I agree with Ian, might as well all go together so that we can notice each other by what clothing we are wearing at least," he noted, "though... if we did go separately, I could get a whole new wardrobe and be like a master in disguise, fufufu."

With money in hand Ben left the Inn with his friends to go search for said bath house, clearly though he reeked the most of blood. Though his cloth had been cleaned with Owen's magic, the smell was still almost unbearable to him, too bad he had to start noticing it now. He didn't really make for much conversation to the bath house, but he at least listened.

After feeling refreshed he moved onto the Tailor whom was next door. Ben disliked the thought of shopping for clothing, it was boring, and nothing ever seemed to fit just right. He would simply picked something that wouldn't cost him more then he had and try on a couple of sizes until he found something that worked. Ben was rather surprised however when the tailor asked for his measurements after he had entered. He was rather delighted that he didn't have to do much work other then pick out what kind of cloth he wished to wear. His clothes consisted of a crimson tint that covered his body from his neck down. Minus his brown sturdy boots, his linen pants and long sleeved linen shirt were both a dark crimson color, and his leather belt was a granite shade. He also wore a checkered red and black scarf around his neck, as well as white leather gloves on his hands. His clothing had several pockets to hide things in, as well he got himself a cloak and wide brimmed hat for those rainy days.

When he was done, Ben joined Ray and waited for Ian, as they had planned to go to the blacksmith together, and he certainly didn't have the courage to go wander off on his own. Definitely not having any money for anything, he picked out Studded Leather to protect his body, though he was disappointed that he couldn't afford a chain shirt. Ben wore his armor over top his clothing, and followed Ray to the next store, where they gathered a few supplies they might need for their travels. Ben picked out a Bedroll, a Hooded Lantern, three Flasks of Oil, a bag of Caltrops, Flint and Steel, and finally a Backpack to fit it all in. He also managed to fit the cloak he had been carrying around into his pack. Ben returned to the inn, content with what he got today, and neatly placed his pack in his room. He returned to the first floor to meet up with the rest of his friends, and to find out what was for dinner. Afterwords he hoped to have a peaceful sleep on a real bed for once.

Ben contently ate his lunch as he listened to Aeth's conversations. He wanted to learn the customs of this land so Ben tried his best to pay attention to everything that was going on.

Aeth stepped to his chair, but remained standing behind it. “As such, we shall be needing guards for our return trip to Miel, after my lady is finished with her business in Corazon. Also, my lady has chosen to take the shorter, more direct route for our return, so we shall only require at most two guards. We are prepared to pay part in advance as a symbol of our agreement that you will remain in Corazon to act as guard when needed and we will hire you. Does any one of you wish to take the job?”

Almost as quickly as Aeth had asked the question Ben raised his hand in the air to volunteer himself.

"I would be grateful if you allowed myself to accept this task," he almost blurted out.

Ben looked around at his friends to see who would be joining him in the quest. He was almost certain that Ray would be the next to volunteer, as he felt that Ray had a strong sense of justice, though he could be wrong. Taking the bag of coins, he divided them equally among his friends so that they would have 50 gold a piece. Realizing that he had no idea how the currency of this world might work he turned to Aeth for assistance.

"Um Aeth, I am unfamiliar with this currency, how does it work in this country?" he asked and listened as Aeth explained to him. "Oh so it goes like this then? Ok thank you."

He hoped that his friends were paying attention to that little conversation. Ben really didn't want to have to explain it again, it would be too bothersome.

"A bath is sounding pretty nice right about now, though should we check out our rooms first?" he asked Owen, not sure what to do first.

Subject: The Way of the Sword!

Ben awoke the next morning with a stiff neck, which also happened to be his greatest weakness. He stretched it as well as he could and then walked around the camp grabbing things he would need for the training with Ian and Ray. When they were ready Ben reached his hands forward to the both of them.

"Ian, hand me your blade, sheathed, Ray here is yours," he told them, handing Ray a sword with a rope tied around the hilt, binding the sword to the sheath.

Ben took Ian's sword from him and tied a rope around his sword as well, then handed it back to him.

"A sword doesn't choose its opponent," Ben started his lecture. "An immature swordsman will cut things that don't even need to be cut with his unskilled blade, like themselves, like what they are trying to protect. Until you're able to only cut what needs to be cut, do not untie that knot."

Ben pushed them through a 2 hour practice, showing them offensive and defensive techniques as well as proper footwork that would aid them in battle. He also showed them several stances used in battle.

"As a warrior, I'm sure you two will discover your own techniques and styles, grow and develop your own style of fighting, use your strengths to your fullest, and further more, know thyself, know thy enemy, and you will always come out victorious!" he added, ending their training for today.

When they began to set out, Ben claimed his place on the roof of the carriage and invited Ian to join him.

"Ian, as we continue on our journey, I am sure we will come up against invisible, or rather, stealthed enemies. We will need to learn to trust our senses other then our eyes," Ben explained to him, "close your eyes, learn to sense movement from within."

Ben closed his eyes, and attempted to feel the flow of movement around him, to no avail however, as much as he tried, he just couldn't seem to get it under his belt yet. Though he continued to try for the remaining journey until their stop in the city.

Subject: Ben-sensei, something he never expected to have added to his name.

Ben awakes, displeased that his dream had been disrupted. Never the less, he quickly forgot about it after being surprised by something that Ray was about to ask him.

“Ben, do you think that you can help me out with my weapon skills? If you wont mind teaching and sparing with me, I will do it.” Ray says, following up with his reasons, “I have been playing the part of the pussy these last few days, and I want that to stop. I want to be dependable, and I believe that proper instruction in fighting might waver me from my path of fleeing.”

"Sure Ray, in the morning we shall, though you may be asking the wrong person to be a teacher," Ben replied, making an attempt to smile.

Moving to the edge of their camp area, he thought about how he would go about teaching Ray how to use a sword properly. Teaching certainly wasn't his forte, but he didn't wish to discourage himself so he resolved himself to do his best.

Ben recalled about his own Sensei back in the previous world. His methods were pretty easy to follow, if Ben were to use those he would certainly have an easier time teaching Ray the way of the sword. He then remembered a recent skill that his Sensei had taught him, though he couldn't really get a handle on how to do it at first.

"How quickly you draw your blade can potentially determine the end of a fight, if you can master this ability then you should have no problems at the start of battle!"

His Sensei's words rung through Ben's head as he stood in the moonlight and grabbed the hilt of his sword. After a few moments of silence he drew his blade as swiftly as he could, moving into his battle stance at the same moment. He now had the feeling of how the flow of drawing his sword was meant to be, and in order to keep that feeling fresh in his mind, he tried it a few more times before making the next person take their shift.

"I wish for you to join Ray and myself tomorrow, I am sure you are still not too familiar with a sword yet either," he awoke Ian, telling him of his morning plans, "Oh and it is your turn to keep watching, I'm going to get some shut eye"

With that he moved to his roll out bed that had been lent to him by Aeth and the others.

The adrenaline in his body was building up higher and Ben couldn't help but show a big grin to his enemy as it dodged his attack.

"No chance!" he yelled, sounding almost happy, he then looked to Galen whom seemed to have joined him, "go help the others, that guard back there is looking rather pale!"

Taking his blade in both hands he rose it above his head and swung down at his almost dead victim in a lunar arc. Ben seemed not to care about the runaway carriage, as he was having too much fun cutting down his undead foes. He would move to follow Galen if this one were to be felled.

The sudden pick up in speed of the carriage forced Ben from his habitual nap. He held on to whatever he could so that he would not fall off by accident. As the horses suddenly jerked to a stop at the crossroads he alerted himself towards any danger that may have come to them. To his surprise zombies began to rise from the ground. He recalled an old horror movie that had almost the same theme. He let out a sigh and jumped down to engage the undead that blocked their passage.

“We’re surrounded!” he heard from Galen.

"That would seem to be the case, don't panic, pick them off one at a time!"

He surveyed the situation and drew his weapon, quickly attacking the decrepit zombie standing closest to him, while trying to get himself into an advantageous position should the guard nearby assist him.

Subject: Fear of magic? What kind of phobia is that?

Ben ran after the bandit in a hurry, but stopped himself a little ways into the forest, thinking that it would be too dangerous for him to run off on his own. He growled angrily as he stared deeper into the forest.

"YOU COWARD!" he yelled out, in an intimidating, and booming voice that shook the forest.

It was to this extent that he realized just how bad his injuries were. Ben knelled down to suppress the pain of his wounds. Returning to his feet, he sheathed his sword, and walked back to the carriage with his head down, a frustrated look on his face. Ben let out a deep sigh as he leaned his back against the carriage. This is when he noticed that Galen had approached him.

"Hmm? Hey wait a minute what are-" he stopped mid sentence as he realized what Galen was doing, "thanks pal."

Galen had cast a healing spell on him, and he could feel a slight pain as the wounds closed themselves. It wasn't as pleasant as he thought it would of been at least. Ben patted Galens shoulder with a smile, and turned to assist Aeth with preparations for making camp.

“A week of recovery reduced to a single spell. The wonders that can be gained from the application of magic.” The way his voice trailed he seemed about to say more, but he held his tongue. He removed most of Ben’s bandages, leaving only that which protected the more tender wounds.

“Sure it’s good ‘n’ all, so long as it doesn’t kill you.” Gamet says, breaking the accumulating silence.
“I was getting to that next, Gamet,” Aeth said, not appreciating the blunt summary. He seemed to look for the right words, then continued in a more sombre tone. “Perhaps you are newer to this country than I had guessed, for otherwise you would be much more hesitant to display your talents.” He paused for a second to let the words sink in. “In these lands, the use of magic is strictly prohibited on pain of death. Those caught or suspected of demonstrating witchcraft are prosecuted and executed quickly, here. I’m not trying to scare you, merely to warn you to be careful whenever you use magic. I thank you for what you did for us when we were attacked earlier, but not many will be so grateful.”

"New? That's one way to put it. Perhaps newer than you think, even now . . . but that's not for me to say. Now that I'm aware, I will be more careful. I believe that's all there is to say." Galen says softly, his voice a little difficult to make out, as it usually is when talking openly.

"Huh? Is there something wrong with the use of magic or something?" he asked, but his question was almost instantly answered before he could ask.

Aeth nodded. “Most people would respond to magic with outright fear, which is why some bandits, like the one from today, wield it with such authority. People like this are very dangerous, because they have nothing to loose if they’re about to be caught.” The dry grass crunched audibly as Aeth shifted. “Well we should get some sleep. I’ll take the first watch. My Lady, I must insist that you sleep in the carriage tonight, for your own safety.” Lady Emerita seemed about to complain, but quieted at a look from Aeth.

Just then Ray had started asking questions, and reminded him about the dreams they had. He recalled the words that had been said in his dreams under his voice.

"You have proven yourselves champions at heart. When our darkest hour arose, a prophecy was made that no man nor woman born under our care could defeat the evil that has crossed us. We send you our plea to aid us. Do not worry, for we do not intend to unfairly endanger you, you will go with our protection to a temple prepared for your arrival where you will find our trusted servants are waiting to equip you with the tools and knowledge you will need against the evil you must face.
"You are now approaching the completion of your journey, prepare yourselves to--"

"Heh, some temple and servants they were," he mumbled.

He simply ignored everything else Ray was saying and focused on the words said in the dream. What did they mean, and what exactly could several teenagers do to save a world they know nothing about? Too tired to want to think about it, he went to bed and rested.

Ben turned around to discover the fighting behind him. He felt frustrated that not only were there not enough enemies, but they appeared behind him to boot.

"From behind? Dammit, this day couldn't get any worse," he grumbled to himself.

Quickly he followed the mounted guard around the carriage, and dodged past the corpse laying on the ground. He moved in to attack the third bandit that had came to the party late. Getting as close as he could, he readied to attack him with everything he had.

((Attacking next round, power attack, stuff like that))

Ben pulled himself together, quickly jumping off the side of the carriage he was on.

“That is only a sample of my witchcraft! Now tell me, your money or your lives?” A voice cried from the trees on the left, broken immediately by hacking coughs. A second voice picked up for him, also from the forest, also to the left. “Do what he says, quickly now! We have you surrounded, don’t try to fight!”

Unsure as to where the voice was coming from he drew his longsword and held it with both hands, readying himself for the attack. He watched the surrounding area carefully, waiting to see where they would come from first.

“I’m sorry, good sir, but I don’t believe we shall be doing that today. Run along and make honest men out of yourselves while you may still be redeemed, we have a broken wheel to fix.”

"If you intend on taking our lives, hurry and show yourselves, we do not plan to go down without a fight!" he yelled out.

"You asked me a moment ago if it would be possible for you to travel with us. While you are certainly more forthright than your friend was, allow me now to be equally so. I hesistate to ask, forgive me, for you do not seem to me to be old enough to be soldiers. As you can see for yourselves, we travel under armed escort. These days the roads are becoming exceedingly dangerous to travel, and there is safety in numbers. That alone suggests my answer to you, but we lost a man a few days ago, and I feel I must ask regardless. How many of your party can capably weild a sword?" For all his reluctance, the question was finally revealed.

Ben looked back at his companions, attempting to remember which ones could properly use a blade. He had definitely seen Galen use one before, but the others were a mystery to him. Ben turned back to Aeth with his answer.

"As far as I know, my friend Galen here, as well as myself, are the only ones capable of fighting with weapon in hand without hurting ourselves."

He looked back at his friends again to get some feedback from them, just to make sure his statement was right.

"Ah it is of no worry, your guards are doing an excellent job from what I can tell," Ben replied, "my friends as well as myself are but lost and hungry travelers confused as to where we are, would you be so kind as to let us travel with you to the next city?"

Ben took a look at the man before him, he could feel that this person was quite strong. He then took a look at the others traveling with him and quickly noticed an old friend of his.

"Eh? Ray? What on earth are you doing here?" he asked shocked to see that someone else had fallen into this world with them.

"Ok, ok enough talking about this whole burden thing, we have bigger problems to worry about at the moment," Ben interrupts, "we're lost, we're hungry, and worst of all we're confused, lets figure out where we are first, for some reason this doesn't feel like Canada anymore, after that we'll figure out something to eat."

He had a serious, and slightly irritated look on his face. He didn't know what would happen if they were attacked again, so he began to pick up the pace a bit, hoping his friends would too.

Ben shuddered quietly, he didn't want to know what this "haunt" was, and was more then less interested in fighting a wraith. He backed away and followed Galen out of the area.

"I agree, I don't wanna stick around here either," Ben mutters.

Ben pointed forward at the figure he saw. He was unsure if anyone else had noticed it yet, but he could tell that they felt the presence of another being.

"Over there!" he called out, "who goes there!"

He moved to the wall to see if he could get a better look at the figure, his axe at the ready.

Upon felling the skeleton, he took a moment to catch his breath. Quickly he moved over to the barely alive Jeremy whom had bravely taken up the front with him.

"Oiy Jeremy! Don't go dieing on us now, quick Galen do something! I used up my last potion earlier in the battle," he said, panicking slightly.

He hoped that the entrance was nearby. He left Jeremy's side while he let his friends take care of him and picked his torch off the ground. Quickly he began to climb over the rubble, his axe nearby in case there was more trouble. He motioned for Ian to follow him, as he wanted someone to watch his back while he checked out the next hallway.

Ben backed up into whoever was behind him and simply took up their space whether they liked it or not. While doing so he pulls out his last potion, pulls the cork, and knocks it back into his mouth.

He figured he would be safe for now, but he wasn't sure what he would do if the skeleton tried to follow him.
