Subject: Good shtuff

OK, I'll admit, I had a misty moment when they arrived, and Adama made the big speech and all...but Nuclear Earth was a bit of a letdown.

I hope the last half-season goes in a cooler direction.

Subject: Duncan's thoughts on the meeting

Stardate 2374.09.03 - 0545 hours
USS Cerberus - Bridge

As the moment of launch drew nearer and nearer, Duncan thought back on his meeting with the Captain, reflecting on what was said, and more importantly, what wasn't said.

"Yer orders likely gave ye a brief onna mission parameters, aye? Told ye tha’ we were sairch an’ recovery an’ tha’ engagements wi’ th’ enemy would be minimal…”

"Aye, Sir. I was told that very thing, but..."

“Aye. Well, Mester Cameron, I dinnae give a good twist o’ Charlie’s knickers wha’ those fargin’ orders said. I expect ye tae run yer shop as ef this were combat mission."

We seem to be on the same page there,
thought Duncan. If there's S & R work to be done, then obviously the Dominion has been there. No reason at all to think they won't lurk in the shadows waitin' to pick off any potential rescuers as well.

It seemed, though, that the captain was expecting combat beyond the reactionary kind. Perhaps he intended the Cerberus to do a bit more than simple search and rescue. Besides, thought Duncan, they wouldn't go to all the trouble of doing all this landmark engineering work with an experimental cloaking strategy if it was just a simple rescue operation.

No matter, though. If the captain wanted to take this ship into the gates of Hell itself, Duncan vowed that he would see to it that the ship held together all the way up Lucifer's nostrils. From what he knew of secondhand, and what little he had experienced firsthand, MacTavish was a man worthy of the command chair, and worthy of every effort to keep him in it.

“C’n ye make tha’ ‘appen, Commander Cameron? Anythin’ yer no’ pairfectly clear on?”

"Aye, Captain. She'll be ready to fight, and she'll hold together - that's a promise."

“Grand,” Mac nodded, stepping around his desk and making for the door of the ready room.

As Duncan again focused on the present and the tasks at hand, he was already mentally coordinating schedules, plans and procedures for implementing MacTavish's orders. He'd have a meeting with the entire Engineering department once the ship was underway, and he'd make damned sure that every single one of his personnel did their jobs to the best of their ability.

He was familiar with the stories of the ship's namesake, and he was proud to be a part of the birth of her legacy. As long as he drew breath, this hellhound's fangs would bite hard, and her claws would stay sharp.

Topic: Why'd You Choose Your Avatar?
Subject: Vader

I agree with Alacrity...Vader has been a constant element and overriding influence in my life. My first major happy memory is of going to the opening of the original SW in '77, and have been to opening night of all 6, and all were great times, not just for the movies themselves, but for the companionship and for the light it brought to dark times in my life. Without going into sordid detail, let's just say my pic could be in the dictionary entry for 'dysfunctional'. Corny it may be, but Star Wars has always had happy connotations to offset the bad ones.

And I've always identified with Vader; his character shows that even the most begotten can be redeemed, and that's always been important to me.

It's nice to know that no matter what darkness there has been, the light can be found.

Deep thought done.

Manic-Depressive I spose, since I actually have it-hehe; being bipolar is SUCH fun (read: sucks).

Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor?

That's a detail I did not pay a lot of attention to; good question!

So, this is a flat-out guess: Battle of Geonosis in the arena?

Will reserve a Q til I find out if I got it-hehe.

That one's painfully hard to answer hehe. A tie of sorts: Stephen King for his Dark Tower novels, Dean Koontz for everything else. hehe.

That's a really good question there, Alacrity

I know it was a German Mauser, but don't remember the exact Mauser model. Maybe I get partial credit? Heh. BTW, let me know the model number if no one else gets it, I'm curious. And I'm resisting the urge to look it up-hehe.

What was the name of the Rebel outpost on Hoth?

You are right again! Thoroughly embarrassed myself again! I went and double-checked it, and now know the right answer, so I won't say it-hehe. But a hint to anyone else: I'm only off on one digit!

BTW, those were correct answers to my last question: it was a Mon Calamari water opera.

Okay, will throw out another one (and I KNOW the answer to this one fer sure-hehe):

What is the top speed of the Milennium Falcon, as given by Han?

You are right, YeOlde, had my detention areas mixed up; I bask in the sunshine of your knowledge-hehe. Thanks for the correction.

And I happen to know the answer to yours, because I had a friend with that phone number once, and it was a running joke with us-hehe. 3863827.

Maul was the third; Ray Park was the Headless Horseman (sorry, GreyGrey, was only 3 fighters, not including the Falcon).

Don't know the answer to yours, Deuc.

While someone hipper than me produces the answer-hehe, here's another Q.

What kind of performance was Palpatine watching when he summoned Anakin to meet with him at the theater?

Quick, put in the DVD! Heh.

Hint: if you watch the explosion scene, you'll see them flying away as a group right before the splosion happens.

And feel free to get as obscure as ye like-hehe; I just wanted to keep it doable for the casual aficionados as well.

EDIT: Correctimundo, Gruggness! Ask us a question of thine own, good sir.

And happy 5000, by the way. You are offically a Jedi Postmaster-hehe. Gimme my magazines...with the Force.
