"Looks like we're both only childs...but I knew my mother...more than I knew my father."

He inched ever so closer to her and leaned across the table slightly, folding his hands up under his chin.

"Enought about the past though." He couldn't control himself, he knew what was ahppening wasn't controlled by his hormones...he didn't have any...he was dead. Of course, for all her knew, he couldn't get anything from her anyway...since he was only a spirit. Right? He doubted his own logic. Too mnay things were possible now.

He drew the left side of his lower lip into his mouth and placed his teeth on it, drawing on it for a few seconds before exhaling and looking at her. Her hair was black, his a silky white. Her skin was ivory, his almond, her eyes were black and mezmerizing, his red a terrifying. But they were one and the same.

He saw the slight smile, a faint hint of emotion on an otherwise stone cold face...stone cold...but beautiful. He couldn't help but admire her. Her hair, her eyes, her soft skin.

"Mind telling me about you? I'm sure you know more about me than your letting on..."

He smiled a bit too. It was a mischevious smile, a smile he couldn't help, a smile that said "Hey there...do you want me?"

He found himself oddly attracted to her. He forgot about Dawn. He didn't know why, but something about her seemed...undeniably irresistable.

He took her by the hand and led her to the sitting room, where he pulled out a chair for her. He wasm't in control of his own actions...he was being forced to this.

"I guess I know how you feel." was all he could say.

"I could care less what my father knows. He knows I'm I'm dead...didn't seem to care much. He knows I'm somewhere away from him, thats all he really cares about."

"In a way, yes, I can't get back. I'm sort of...dead at the moment."

She looked a little shocked, but her face sooned returned to its stoic expression.

"I can't leave...and Dawn and I had a bit of an argument...which you probabaly saw..."

He realized the sky was still red as he glanced out the window of his new crystaline mansion.

"Please, forgive me. I was at fault. It's not my place to draw my blade upon someone such as your self." he was speaking oddly. He didn't know why he was, but he couldn't help it.

He gently grabbed her hand and kissed it, before he stepped back and bowed gently. Why was he acting like this?

He knew who she was now.

"I won't lie. I'm a tad shaken up right now." He realized his hand still rested on the pommel of his sword. He moved it. He felt uncomfortable knowing who this was.

He pulled out his sword, and it caught fire. The girl stepped from the shadows and terrified him.

He sheathed his blade.

He was alone, but he figured, considering the size of the garden, someone else was here at least.

She'd gone, but the garden remained. He still had a physical form. Perhaps she was supporting it still with her mind. He looked up at the sky and bathed himself in the red light. The soft droplets of rain mixed with the salty tears that dabbled his face.

The thunder slowed, and stopped. It seemed Dawn had almost given him as garden of light, and in his disembodied state, his power had no limit. He could not be strained by the energy he used because he has no physical form.

He held out his hand, palm down, and lifted it slowly, he felt the weight of the Earth following it. The crystals pulled themselves from the ground and began forming into one cohesive shape. A small mansion. If he was going to be stuck here, he was going to make it comfortable.

He fingered the sword that layed by his side. Would he get to keep it? Probably not. It was a symbol of what he would become much later on in his life, it wasn't even real, but it felt real.

The sky turned a deep scarlet. It was such an intrusive sight, that every object was bathed in the color of blood. He yelled out something in his mind and held out his right hand. His sword came to him and fell softly into his palm, as he had insrtucted. He needed something living...

But then he remembered...he had promised himself a long time ago he would never kill again. He turned around from his bench and took in the sight before him. Burnt plants, whithering flowers, even several hurt animals. He stood up and heard Earth speaking to him.

"Child, what you have done, was done in anger. I do not forgo you for this, for you have the means to right your wrong."

He nodded, and knealt down. The red that surrounded him interacted with the surface of the garden, and the area was lush again. The whithered plants bloomed, the animals returned to their feet and scampered away and Adrian seated himself again, burrying his face in his hands. What had he become? It wasn't Dawn's fault, but he was blaming her. It was his own fault. He was foolish and angry.

The sky was still red. The red permeated even the darkest of corners, and a perpetual glow covered the garden. It started raining ever so gently, only a fine mist from the heavens. The cracking roll of thunder fell across the garden at regular intervals. It was a gentle noise, soothing, sad.

The rain fell just as his tears, and the thunder, the beating of his heavy heart.

He wrenched her hand off of him and stormed away, making sure to light a few trees on fire as he walked off.

He didn't know where he was going, the garden seemed endless, and he knew only Dawn could close it and allow them to return to their normal state. He didn't care. She was hurting him. Her touch caused too much pain to bare.

He lost himself in the trees and plants until he found a gondola witha small fountain and a marble bench.

She hadn't managed to catch up with him, if she had even followed him. He drew out the sword from the sheath and threw it like lance. It came alive with dancing fire as it soared through the air and wedged itself into a tree. The tree burnt down so quickly, it was ash within seconds. He turned toward the gondola and glared at it until fire consumed it, and the wooden structure crumbled into a pile of rubble. He kicked the bench over, shattering it, and evaporated the water in the fountain before bruning the ground all around him and moving on. If she was following, she wouldn't like what he was doing to her garden.

He continued along a winding path, up a steep hill, incinerating any plants or strucutres in his way. He scorched the rocks of the path and evaporated the streams, fountains and waterfalls. The sky grew ever redder the more enraged he became. His hair was turning back to a silky white. He was sick of this new life already. He already wished he was a kid again...a young boy controlled by something else. He hated dealing with other people. They lied, cheated...did horrible things.

He reached the top of the hill and came across yet another gondola, but this one had staues of each of the spirits at the top. He smashed the staue of his father and burnt the gondola, but left the remaining statues standing, before he found yet another marble bench to try and sit on. He burnt the surface in his anger, but eventaully cooled down. The sky was still red and the air around was so hot, he could have sworn he heard it boiling.

"Stop what...STOP WHAT! Being depressed? That won't f***ing happen Dawn! It's too damn late for that! I've lost you already, and here I am in your mind. You said it yourself...youn can just forget to bring me back to life. Do that...I don't want to deal with you, or Donald, or Edward of any of the others assholes on the planet. I just want to be dead...maybe then I can find some peace. My dad always told me there was a fire in me, that couldn't be put out. He wasn't wrong...no, it's been obliterated. It'll never come back...it's gone forever."

"God Damnit!" his fist flung down on the marble bench, crushing it into dust. The grass below it caught fire.

"Don't you get it! I can't be happy! I need you...but you don't want anything to do with me anymore! I'll never be happy! I'm dead already Dawn...and you killed me..."

The red aura around him flared and he swung his left hand through the air, a balzing trail of white hot fire tracing behind it.

"Okay"

He hoped they were done with whatever they might or might not be doing. They both needed it, they were both just too damn stubborn to tell the other.

He threw his gun over his back and attached his sword to his belt loop, following the love of his life out of the room.

He saw her, as beautiful as ever, but he turned away and crossed his arms. He realized he had a glowing physical form back. But his clothes different, he wore the traditional garb of the spirit of fire. A bright red Curaiss trimmed with gold, matched by gauntlets, greaves boots and a cape of the same fashion. An intricate sword hung limply at his side and a sheild was clipped to his back, under the cape.

Without thinking about it, he managed to materialize a bench, and he sat down on it, still facing away from her. He didn't want to talk with her anymore. He realized he was being selfish, putting his needs before hers. It was her job in life to love everything, everything except Adrian.

He understood why she didn't want him. It was an assortment of reasons. Adrian was still so young an naive. He was afraid, and he still had some mental instability inside him. But first and foremost of those reasons was that tradition prevented them from loving each other. He was supposed the love the spirit of darkness...whoever that was. The logic made no sense, why would opposites be thrown at each other. Fire made light...without either, one could not exist. Why was it that they were forced apart as opposed to being drawn together.

Her motives were honest, but Adrian didn't want to talk. He would never find another person like this, not in the eternity of his life. Not during his living moments or his immortal afterlife. It would not happen, ever. He would be alone. He would refuse anything pushed upon him and eventaully isolate himself from the other spirits of the pantheon.

Considering fire was the most important element to be constantly maintianed, because it was the one with which mortals interacted the most, it would eventaully run rampant. He didn't care. Let them pay for his broken heart. It was their fault anyway.

Oddly, he wasn't crushed. He had seen it coming like Donald saw his fate with her.

"Okay."

Thats all he said. He knew he'd be a lonley fire spirit for the rest of eternity.

"Eh, his loss. If he really wanted you he could just not bring me back...kill my spirit, since I'll be dead by years end, and take you as his own. He hasn't sone that yet..."

She did have an awful lot to explain to the poor guy. He looked mind numbingly confused.

"I feel odd saying this-well I don't really feel at all-but maybe you can have both Don AND me. That whole fate things might force the two of you together, but I'm sure not letting you go. I'd be fine with it...but it's up to you. I just want to see you happy."

He looked though her eyes at Eli. He looked pretty confused. She hadn't spoken aloud in a while. Poor guy had no idea who was inside her, or what they were even saying.

"Look Dawn. You like Eli, I'm not saying you love him. You find him a nice guy, and I don't blame you. Donald does care about you, he just thinks you love me instead and he's to damn stubborn to admit it. I know you care about everything, because you love so many things. It's your job, being the future light spirit and all. Thats what your supposed to do is love. But...some of the love you feel...it's not the kind of love that just says 'I care about you'. Its the 'I want to be with you forever' kind. Its there, and its confusing you. Hell if I know who its all about, but I know I'm one of 'em. But I'm dead...not loveable according to you. Look, I just want to help, and if that means I have to be that nagging voice in the back of your head, then so be it. No matter what, I still love you, regardless of what fate tells us we have to do or whether or not I'm alive. I'll never be happy without you, so I'm here to stay."

It was a long speech, but he got his point across.

"Not yet. Dawn...I know you have feelings for Don. I don't blame you, 'cause he's a nice guy. He deserves you. You deserve him. This guy, from your memories of him, seems pretty nice too. And I KNOW you have feelings for him. Don't be mad at me for saying this, but your pretty much putty in the hands of anything that needs to wear a cup when they play a sport. I don't mean that in a bad way. I'm the same way with women, it's just that you have all these mixed emotions for all these men, and I can't tell which one you like the most. You love one, and then another, then you go back to the one you left a long time ago. Dawn, I'm in your brain now...I know this stuff..."
