Adrian was still trapped in his own mind. The final presence of Alexander, coupled with the shock of Donald dying and Dawn fainting had sent him into the prison of his phsyquie, and he had no key to escape.

He was concious however, and he was beginning to wonder when they would discover, or if they already had. He had fainted in the washroom....he had moved during his dream.

Perhaps they thought he had just left, left to go terrorize and discrminate even more people. But he hadn't. He lay in pain in the washroom only feet from them, as yet another memory slid into his concious.

The "accident" had been all over the papers. It was the top story for two years, the entire city of Temecula...gone. almost 50,000 killed instantly, with no trace of them anywhere. Luckily they did not know who commited the crime, it was Adrian...but the government blamed it on a meteor, which the public accepted as the most viable theory.

The government promised the keep Adrian safe when they found him. All he wanted was to be safe, and away from the destruction he had caused. He still didn't understand the magnitude of the cataclysim he'd unleahsed, he was too young.

The men in the black suits took him away, they moved. Adrian always wanted to see new places, but he missed his mommy. The men in the black suits told him that his mommy was gone, she had left him in their care...he was upset...but he liked these people....trusted them.

When they finally reached the place they were going to, Adrian saw the men in the suits change. They were not the nice people he'd known for a few days before. They forced him in the building at gunpoint and told him to go into the "labs". Adrian didn't know what those were, so he just followed them. They said it was a game...he liked games, no one else played with him.

When he got to the labs, they told him to stand on a platform in the middle of the room. It was a shiny white room, and the men there had shiny white clothes, except for one. His clothes were green, and he had all sorts of pins and medals...and Adrian didn't like him because he looked too serious.

He gladly went to the center of the room, and thats when everything changed. The glass tube came up and surrounded Adrian too quickly. He tried to hit it, but it electrocuted him. He backed away from it, and his back hit the other side, he was electrocuted again. He started crying. Thats when the tube filled a liquid...it was a hot liquid...it burned at first, then it simply did nothing. Adrian couldn't breath, then the liquid drained.

The tube lowered and some metal arms came out from the walls to his side, they grabbed his legs and his arms and uspended him in the air. Another, bigger, box of glass came up around the arms, and a bunch of men with guns surrounded him.

For five long years he was tested, tortured, retested. They wanted to know what made him so strong, but they could never ind it. He felt the pain, and the suffering, but he was too seddated to use his powers. He was so scared, for five years all he felt was fear, anger, distrust. He couldn't trust anyone anymore. They promised him the world, and then only ended up crushing his hopes and dreams.

He didn't have any dreams anymore...he still didn't to this day. He was afraid to dream...but then what were these? These were not dreams...these were nightmares...

Subject: I feel it...

He didn't know what to do. He was confused. He held his head in agony, and suddenly it happened.

It was a bright sunny day, one of those days where kids would fill the streets with laughter and parents would watch from their porches. It was just these days that Adrian hated. So much. He look at himself...he was so tiny, so innocent looking. His hair was black...his eyes were blue...his heart was light.

The park was nice that day, but Adrian never enjoyed it.
"Go on Addy...go play with the other kids, mommy needs to talk to her friends". Adrian protested, me meant to tell her what was going to happen if she let him play, but he couldn't. All he could muster was a cheerful, "Okay mommy!"

He teetered over to the sandbox where the other children were, and they saw him. They looked at him like an arachnaphobe might eye a tarantula. Absolute disgust...just like he looked on so many others now. He wandered over to them, and one stepped forward.

"Hi Maurice...my mommy says she wants me to-"

Maurice cut him off by shoving him in the dirt. "No one likes you freak...go away. We don't like your kind."

Adrian started to tear up, and he turned back toward mommy, who saw looking at him worriedly, but the man she was talking to wouldn't let her go.

"Maurice...why do you have to be such a bully?" Adrian tried to get up, but Maurice kicked sand in his face.

"Because your such a freak, my daddy dosen't like you either, he says your mommy is scum...and he hates her. He says people like you don't deserve to exist with people like us...regular people.", Maurice scoffed at him.

Adrian was getting scared now. He heard a scream. He turned around and saw the man on top of his mommy...he had long fangs...and claws...and he was biting her in the neck....on the arm...she was bleeding...screaming...cryin out his name in her last moments of life. She could do nothing. Soon she lay limp on the park bench, and the man turned on Adrian.

"I told that whore she'd pay for screwing that worthless no good freak that you called your father...took care of him yesterday...now it's your turn...and then all the freaks like you!" He bared down on Adrian...he felt so afraid...so vulnerable...so...angry...

The earth rumbled and the sandbox started to roar...the other children would have ran if the sand itself wasn't holding them in place. Adrian was floating, and the werewolf man was stumbling backward into the sandbox, trapped by the twining ribbons of solidifying rock twiling up his legs and engulfing his upper body.

Then there was a flash. Adrian was alone again...the park was gone...in it's place, a smoldering crater. He had not cleansed the park, he had absolutley annihilated the entire city. He lay there, confused, tired and alone in a twelve mile wide crater that once housed 42,000 people.

It now only housed one.

He blacked out.

He tried to close his mind, shut away the things that terrified him, confused him...alieanated him, but he could not. His mind shook with the torrent of wretched thoughts that ran through his head. He prayed the others could not see them.

He released her mind, and pushed open the door ever so slightly. He inched in, his hands behind his back as they used to always be. He moved over to Dawn, but said nothing to Donald.

It was then he noticed that Donald seemed to realize why Adrian clung to Dawn so much, she was saftey for his tortured mind.

Adrian could sense both of their thoughts...and almost spoke, but he decided it would be better to listen for a short while longer, before he made any actions he might regret.

He felt the senses in Donald...Donald felt he was like Adrian in a sense...and Adrian was forced to agree.

He heard the sincerity in Donalds voice, but couldn't believe it. The Master...Alexander...had told him that no one really ever wanted to help you, unless they were of course him...they just wanted to hurt you. He taught Adrian only to respect those with power equal to above his own...and so Adrian did...

He continued listening...perhaps they would talk more about him...

Adrian eyed Edward and the Werewolf hostily, giving special attention showing his distrust to the werewolf, before he moved away. He eventually found his way to Dawn, who was wndering through the halls. That is, until she walked into Donalds room.

He waited outside, extended his mind passivley, so he could not be detected, and listened to their conversation, and their very thoughts.

A strange feeling came through Adrians mind. The entire time he had been in the room, his mind had been passively connected to Dawns, ready to speak to her if he must. When she touched the arm of Donald, he felt a presence of evil, much like that that once ruled his own mind.

He extended his mind and probed Donalds, thinking about how Donald had protected him, he made sure his tone was not quite so harsh.

"What is wrong?", he said mentally, so only Donald could hear him.

Subject: Heightened Distrust

Adrian saw the way Donald eyed him, and he knew exactly what he was thinking. Years of invading the private sanctums of others had taught him how to read the face like an open book.

He inched a few feet closer to Dawn, just to see the reaction from Donald. He knew Donald didn't trust him, and that he expected a hearty 'thank you' from Adrian, but he also knew Donald figured he wasn't saying anything for the wrong reasons.

He wouldn't bother explaining anything. It would probably just offend everyone more, and the way things were, he already despised most of them. The werewolf most of all. Every movement the werewolf made put Adrian on edge.

He didn't trust their kind, not since his childhood. He kept his mind extended at the very reaches of the werewolfs mind, not entering and undetectable, but ready to pounce should he move to attack Dawn or Adrian...the others he could care less about.

He glanced back over at Donald and read the slightest hint of yet another emotion on his face. Jealousy. Perhaps Donald thought Adrian was attracted to Dawn. She was beautiful, but Adrian knew his bounds, line he would not cross. He had, on multiple occasions, threatened this womans life, and he knew he hadn't a chance with her. Therefore he showed no emotion, but he could sense she felt it...

He looked at her for a breif moment, examining her soft yet determined eyes. It wasn't her beauty that wooed Adrian, as it was for the others, but her power and grace. It confused Adrian that someone so strong would refuse to use that power to gain an advantage over others, and he was determined to find out why.

Subject: Ahhhh

He huffed. He wanted nothing to do with any of this. He was tired, confused, lost. He couldn't even remember his own last name. Then he started thinking about all of the people he'd hurt.

Did they deserve it? No...it was Alexander...controlling him. But why would he have chosen Adrian. Adrian was weak, useless. Unless he had a skill he never realized.

Then he thought back on the magic he had performed. He had disintegrated three structures entirley, taken control of countless minds and used them as pawn against their will, terrified teacher and students alike with his mere presence, and managed to teleport himself and others on multiple occasions.

All of these were skills even the most accomplsihed witch struggled to acheive, and yet he had performed them without so much as a second though. He started to think harder. Each time he had done these acts...hadn't he been experiencing and intense emotion? Wasn't it true that when he cleansed the chapel, he was angry; and when he destroyed the tower, scared. He looked in a mirror and eyed his hair.

The lone streak of intense white ran from left side of his hairline down to the front middle. The rest of his hair was black. When he had been freed, his hair had returned to black, save for the one line of silvery white. His eyes had also remained red. He sensed some of his instability was still inside him.

He couldn't use it though. He was angry at everyone here, yet no energy explelled itself from his body. None at all. Perhaps anger was the wrong emotion...but he had never experienced anything other than anger, fear, hate, distrust...those were all he knew.

He sensed the others were still uncomfortable around him, and he felt unworthy in their presence. He had tried to kill them, even control them as pawns...yet they took him in. Even though they had shown kindness to him, Adrian could not lower his guard to anyone besides Dawn.

Dawn...she seemed so serene and complacent. She was calm and cool, warm and good natured...but sheltered a raw power that had been a match for Adrian.

Donald was confused, but not nearly as much as Adrian was. He was cursed with an addiction to a substance Adrian did not understand, yet he managed to act calmly in the face of certain death. He had not thanked Adrian for saving his life, and frankly, Adrian didn't expect him to. He had wronged Donald before, so many times. He had punched him, almsot taken his mind, and nearly killed him...he didn't deserve any thanks.

Edward was an odd fellow. Adrian did not understand the arts he praticed. He tried to control his fire. Alexander had taught Adrian that fire was a means of ultimate power, the apex of the elements, the most undeniably powerful substance on earth, and so Adrian feared his own strenght. He was terrified of the fire inside him. He had burned enitre structures and injured countless people with the rouge element he once held dear. He would never use it again, it was only good for destruction.

Finally...the werewolf. Adrian remembered what werewolfs were like. They wer elowly scum, he had seen it with his own eyes, Alexander had taught him it. His hatred grew ever stonger for the quiet and timid werewolf. He would not speak to that one...ever.

In fact, he refused to speak to any of them out loud. From now on, he would speak through his mind, it was the only safe place anymore.

He didn't like this man either. For some odd reason, he felt an immense brooding hatred for anyone who wasn't Dawn. She was so serene, they were all so occupied.

He could hardly even stand looking at the man, let alone replying.

"I'm not hungry". He sounded hostile, and he meant to. He didn't say thank you. That phrase was not part of his vocabularly toward those he despised. He looked over to the vines on the wall, they were creeping him out. He though about making them wither and die, but he decided against it, Dawn may think he was nothing but a bully for that.

He had ignored the others. He didn't even know what they were talking about. He head was spinning around, and he saw everything for the first time.

He tocuhed a flower, a long plant that survived the chaos, and it grew, and blossomed.

He snapped his fingers, and fire shot out, he exhaled, and cold misty water srayed his face. He waved his hand, and a little tornado popped up in his palm.

He could control it...it was his now...

He gasped when the energy flowed into him. The bones in his back repaired themselves, but the scar remained, a permenant reminder of a past he would rather forget.

He ran his hand through his hair, and pulled a few strands out. Black...he glanced over a broken shard of glass...his hair was black again, except for a single streak of white running down the middle. Alexanders control on him was broken, and so he was himself once more. He touched his face, for the first time in years he looked at himself without scrutiny.

He stood up and stared at...Dawn...for the longest time, until he hugged her.

"Thank you...Dawn..."

He felt lighter...softer, until of course he collided with the earth harder than he had ever done.

But the pain was not over yet. The Master...Alexander...had left his mind, but before he went, he left one final scar upon Adrian. The gash ran all the way across his face, from his left eye to his lower right chin. It would not go away, but it did not bleed.

He heard the Masters voice.

"You are still mine...your insolence will be punished..."

He felt free, but the pain of the scar, and the shattering of several bones in his back, soon overhwelmed that feeling.

He opened his eyes and saw sky...blue sky...he had cleansed the tower...the church...the air wing...he was a tool of destruction, nothing better.
