Topic: Tell a Tale of the Golden Age of the Inn
Subject: Feeling old now

Holy moly, been six years since I was active here (I mean I did pop back in 2014 but it was brief), however I haven't ever forgotten this place. Back in the day when I was living in the middle of nowhere (as such without gaming buddies), and was only just getting my RP legs as GM and player, and was just finishing college (not university, aye), here was where I got my fix.

Now I'm married, have got a job and a cat, organise a monthly 150 player LARP but haven't played a tabletop game in about two years. Funny that the email should come a day after I came across one of my players from three years ago. it's been a week of reminiscence.

Hope you've all been well

A decade-long game... I guess roleplaying never can die, can it?

Good on you!

Around the same table:

- psychopath warrior (always need one apparently)

- time-travelling scientist armed with a messed-up 15-colour pen and can of Dr Pepper

- telepathic and telekinetic housecat

- heavy-metal bard/barbarian with an bladed banjo

Yeah, so that's my gaming groups for you.

Hi, I'm Darren.
You may remember me from such places as: many other tired and repetitive running gags...

This is me signing in to see if I had any RP details in my inbox that weren't in the threads, as I'm going through my old RPs to see if any would be good for tabletops... and it occurs to me that I can't do that without saying hello, now, can I?

... and possibly, come to think of it, returning to this lovely place after a long, long time. Maybe. We'll have to see.

So with no further ado...
Hello all!

Subject: Ok...

Just had a look. Call me a sceptic, but it looks like a port of the game to the engine used by Baldur's Gate 2. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just that a LOT of mods already did it, and very well too.

I ended up dusting it off from my shelves about five months ago, and the DVD (yes, DVD edition ) is still in my PC.

I'll be watching this space

I watched everything up to just after the 100th episode, never got round to watching it again. May do so at some point.

Brilliant! Not wanting to be the party pooper, but it's pretty hard to not think it's animated. The name is... well... animusic...

Ricardo, the Spanish Dwarf librarian with the spirit of a creature from another universe in his head, a spirit who likes beating everyone up whenever Ricardo gets drunk.

I joined this game, based on Worlds of Darkness, between the first and second acts of the campaign. Set in medieval Europe but with a twist of fantasy. The GM is a bit of a nutter who allows almost anything...
The party:
- a moody, ADD assassin whose moods control the elements. She often sets stuff on fire.
- a dragon disguised as a human shaman.
- a paladin who lost his faith and gained the ability to control the winds.
- a scientist who travelled back in time
- a druidess who seems to have developed a symbiotic relation with a mouldy, demonic cuttlefish
- Ricardo.

So in the first session, the group tries to steal a boat from some pirates (with weapons aplenty), and Ricardo's spirit forces him to get drunk so it can take control. It succeeds, and Ricardo attacks the nearest target. The paladin.

Who proceeds to attack him. Quintuple critical, and the poor dwarf librarian becomes a half-dwarf...

"I was wrong when I told you of Tharex: he has an ally visiting who, while worth a substantial bounty, is also highly skilled and highly dangerous. I don't know if your men and women can handle this challenge, and I couldn't send you into a situation like that. My resources tell me he will be there around dusk tomorrow, I don't know for what or why or how long."

Assal nodded, his face expressionless. His companions did in reality seem a tad disorganised, but they could probably handle it. Whatever the case, he would give them the opportunity to leave, since they were originally there of their own accord.

"I have a few more of these and they will be rather effective if you choose to continue your endeavour. I will also be joining you."

The bald warrior raised an eyebrow. "What would they contain, if I might be so curious?"

Sorry for lateness of post, been bogged down in exams.

Chieftain, if you'd prefer to RP Oswald's "actions" via PM so as to better surprise the other members of the party, feel free

"I hope you are staying on your feet better these days, Sir Assal."

Assal laughed, "I exist to serve as slapstick, good sir."

“Well,” Moon spoke to all of them, “Show us to the accommodations you have acquired, Assal. I would like to eat and then turn in for a comfortable nice rest as it will probably be the last bed we sleep on for a while.”

"We have rooms 1, 2, 3 and 5 on the first floor. Ask the waitress for the keys. Oh, and I paid in advance for some food for tonight, so grab yourself something. Their lamb cobbler smelled delicious," Assal informed her with a nod.

"It appears I have mislead you about Tharex, it seems like he has more back-up then anticipated... Shall we turn in for the night? The first round is on me; Assal, if you don't mind, may I have your ear for a minute before we retire for the night?"

"Of course. Would you prefer that we talk in the comfort of the inn, over a flagon of ale?"

“I don’t really know any of you well enough to share a room with you,” Moon said frowning and looking at all her Male comrades, “nothing personal but… I think I will find my own place for the night.”

Not a miscount, just bad phrasing. Assal has got four rooms, each with two beds, since not everyone would want to share a room, and since he isn't hard up he decided to get more rooms than strictly necessary.

I've edited to try and clarify that

Assal met the group in the main square - Tralen having followed him to the tavern and back again.

He nodded to the paladin, cleric and... Moon, and summed his actions up.
"I got us four rooms, with two beds in each, and I thought I'd let you all decide on how we distribute them. I'm happy anywhere.

"Anyway, I heard from the bartender that lots of important and interesting stuff has happened recently..." he let that sink in, before following up with "...in the city of Coria. I suggest that from tomorrow we set off to these Ruins of Athera, and look for this bandit guy. Any better ideas?"
