Stardate 2365.02.11
USS Peregrine, Security Section - 1055

The door to the security room slid open and Ens. Blockmon rushed in grabbing a side arm from the cabinet.

John waved Linda over.

Chief Brooks quickly gave them the early facts.

"An older Kaldarian ship with Cloaking and powerful disruptors uncloaked and fired into two of the Rytain ships."

John looked over the Chief's shoulder. "The Kaldar's technology has not advanced that far. If they had this all along they would have put it in their most advanced ships and conquered the Ryain."

John mused to himself, This is starting to seems familiar.

Tipping in his security code, "We need to keep up on events.. I'm opening the com from the bridge."

=/= "Enough, Ambassador Threel. You will sit down and be silent, or you will be removed from my bridge." =/=

=/= "Hail the Coronado, Captain Jacobs will need to be informed of this intel,..=/=

Another alarm sounded.

=/= Captain, I'm detecting a significant explosion aboard the Coronado! I'll need to see the official damage report, but it appears that the explosion may have involved their torpedo launcher! Their shields are holding, but are significantly weakened - they are down to sixty-two percent capacity." =/=

Standing back Reid turned to Blackmon, "Ensign, take command of the Torpedo Magazines. You're the best Caissons officer we've got. Keep things safe and ready there, this may get hot fast."

Subject: Flickers.........

I seem to remember from some episode of Star Trek that a Klingon ship was detected when someone noticed an odd flicker on the main screen of background stars. It turned out to be the location of the cloaked ship.

So who has really good eyes?

Maybe a shuttle could get an actual visual being that cloaking only fools sensors.

Maybe one the fleets have fighter type ships that can be used in close combat and use visual instead of sensor.

Just some out of box ideas.

Stardate 2365.02.11
USS Peregrine, - 1050

Lt. Reid had spent a good day excising and resting. It took a little more adjustment coming off a Gamma shift to prepare for Alpha shift duty. He'd made a friend in the new CEO and had time to check on messages from cousin, no news.

John had done some study prepping for more Tactical lessons. He had slipped on his duty uniform and was headed to security to where he'd planned to access files to augment his studies. As the lift doors opened on deck five the quiet was broken by the blare of a Red Alert. Now racing to the Security Office. John knew Berk was on the bridge and would be handling the Tactical Com pre the Captain's orders so he took charge of general security.

Tapping his com badge. "Lt. Reid to Security personnel..man battle stations....Ambassador Detail hold your positions."

Then entering the Security Office he acknowledges the watch duty officer Chief Brooks and tapped his com again. "Reid to Lt. Berk.. General security deployed..I am in Security to man the backup Tac Com with Chief Brooks...any orders?"

As he looked across the room John saw ACM Clint Myers seated at a com screen looking a bit pale. "Hang in there sailor, things may be getting dicey but you're in the right place with the right man as he gave nod to Chief Brooks.

Then while waiting for Berk's reply he crossed to the watch officer,"Chief... what's the situation?"

With the bots now in pieces Lum moved to pick through the remains for anything of value. As he passed Máiréad he gave her nod of gratitude for the healing.

When the bots were picked through Lum turned to follow the party over the mount of debris and on to the next event.

I've decided the best fix is to update my OS on my computers.
Spent too many nights try to get XP to work on my wife's computer. So now I've bought Windows 10 to add to three of our computers. Should try the first tomorrow on Momma Bears Vostro 1000. Then over the weekend I'll do my Inspiron E1505.

As for posts I'll get Lum helping tear apart the bots for parts then be ready to follow over the heap.

Will be working on my wife's laptop this weekend. We still have old tech, Dell Vostro 1000 and a Inspiron E1505 running XP. Her puter wouldn't boot to a welcome screen. I tried to repair it and just buggered it worse. Tried to reinstall XP but now it won't activate. Can get to the welcome screen and ever to her profile but won't link out to the net.

May have wipe the hard drive and do a full install.
I could update to 7 or 10, that's a couple a hundred bucks to buy the OS.

Could just buy cheap Cromebook, but not leaning that way.

Anywho... I may be tied up a bit. If any of you have ideas let know. I AM NOT techy, this doesn't come easy to me.

Cloaked ship with disruptors. Me thinks me smells a rat!

I hope Berk knows how to tune the shields. Those disruptors might be able to penetrate. This might be a job for Chief Petty Officer Reginald Brooks,Shield Systems Specialist.

Berk or someone should sensor read and ID ship type and class, or closest cross reference. Ships with cloaking and disruptors should narrow the choices. Tochi and Ried would know ships..Tochi the most.

Just my two cents for starting brain storming.

Well I may get back to posting. I don't have to go to Mexico now, they cancelled the meeting. We were going to Reynosa and the city is on Red Alert due to Federal Troops and Cartel fighting.

The cats were fast ,and powerful. A huge energy blast had hit Lum squarely in chest driving him backwards and off his feet. If not for his armor the big guard might not have gotten up again. Rising back up to his feet in pain the big Orc opened fire again on the cat but he was only shooting wildly.

Lum knew he needed to change tactics, to do something different. These little fellows were spot on with their targeting so they must be sensor aided. Most likely they had thermal sensors to find their pry and motion detectors to guide their moves. Lum scanned the area hoping to find something to aid them in deterring or fooling those sensors. To his left on the wall was a glass cabinet and inside he could see a hose and a fire extinguisher. The big guy rushed to cabinet and pulled out the extinguisher. With all this electrical equipment around chances were good it would be a CO2 unit. If it still worked he could cast a frigid cloud over the thing that blasted him, freezing its targeting sensor. The other two cats would be range for their own cold blast.

A cold cat that didn't move would soon take a smashing blow from Lum's axe.

Swinging the nozzle toward the cat Lum pulled the trigger to release the cloud of a frosty blast.

Well range weapons aren't doing Lum much good, time to rethink his attacks.

As I asked before, did Lum see anything like fire extinguishers or water hoses? Any over head sprinklers?

We can add another character, but Lum may not be as warm to him as the rest. If we have no history with his character then to Lum he is an outsider. Lum will protect the party from him as well as the creatures they encounter.

Lum's trust is not easily earned. There are rumors of other party members that disappeared and never returned, but Lum still had their loot for the boss.

This month has been tough for me too. I've been traveling for business a lot recently and when I get back I've been a bit fried. I have to go to Mexico week of the 28th so between prep and keeping up at the office my down time hasn't been very productive.

Made good start with Haemis, but got little away from finishing it. Hope to still get my reply finished.

Lum had moved himself between the spellcasters and the robots and fired his heavy blaster, but missed as the creature zigged and zagged towards him. It leaped at him and attacked with its blade like claws, piercing through his armour and causing some painful injury (Light Wounds) to his chest and sides. The cat moved away rapidly and swung around to attack again.

Lum held his ground to stay between these creatures and his party.

As the cat fought the light in its middle grew brighter, this was not good. It may be learning, intensifying or calling for help. There sounds now coming from the other side of the pile.

The cat had moved more rapidly than Lum had anticipated but now he knew better and wouldn't be so kind. As cat leaped off him and away so he took his opportunity and fired again with heavy blaster as the cat was about to land and turn to attack again. The cat would need a moment touch something solid before it could move or change direction.

(O.O.C. Hopefully Lum's Quick Relexes and +2 for Accuracy will help here.)

It was just quick thought. The others could attack the paused cat.

Maybe as the cat that just attack lept away in might give Lum the opportunity to blast it as it turned back to attack.

So I'll go with that and just keep pressing the attack on the one that hurt him.

Boo if you have something that could affect the paused cat this is the time to use it. You get first action and that cat gets second so you can hurt it that would be great. Tann might be able to finish it off.

Here's a thought, how about Rhy casts a blast on the cat attacking Lum and Lum blasts the the one now paused. The heavy blaster may do some damage.

Not sure what to make of the lights in the cats getting brighter. Hope it isn't a bomb.

Haemis laughed again, reaching across he slipped his hand around the mans wrist and shook it in a good proper warriors shake. "Haemis McTavish, chief engineer." he released the mans grip and laid back on the mat. "Pleased to meet you Lieutenant Reed. Yer pretty good with a stick laddie. Be interesting to see what you could do with a sword." he took a moment, then slowly sat back up. "How long have ye been aboard the Peregrine?" he slowly stood up and walked over to pick up the staff and return it to the case they were kept in.

John got up and followed the Scot to the equipment locker. "Well I've been with the crew about nine months now ,but with all that's been going on in the last couple of days it is starting to feel much longer," John said with a sigh. "Its been fairly quiet and I've been learning the Tac and Com chair under some really good folks.... My last CTO and the Captain have been great examples and even better teachers....One thing about a smaller boat is that there are plenty of chances to sharpen your skills or learn new ones."

John toweled off a bit more, "I don't know which shift you're coming off but would you care to share a meal?"
