Thanks. I redid the color of that bottom panel twice before the current one. Something about it just threw me off.

I'm still not happy with it, but its much better than before... and the next page makes up for any deficiencies.

Alright, page 13 has been updated, and some small adjustments you probably won't notice were made to page 24.

Book 2 is officially done.

We'll keep you updated on when the first Book 3 pages will be online.

We are updating a couple of the chapter 2 pages with new color. Pages 4 and 5 and the bottom panel of page 13.

Page 5 is already updates. Page 4 will be updated Saturday morning. 13 sometime this weekend.

I never liked the bottom panel of 13. Worst panel in the whole damn book.

As we mentioned before, this is to prepare our comic for the upcoming TheFabler.com webcomic competition.

In other news, we ARE going to go with less frequent updates but with more pages. Test it out, see how it feels. If it doesn't work, we'll go back to bi-weekly updates. I'm hoping it does, and allows for us to actually produce more pages in a given time span.

HAH!

I misread your caption on your last page. I thought you were saying there was going to be no more Loaded Dice comics. I see I missed a part - no more FIRE in Loaded Dice.

I thought you were gonna quit cause it was taking too long for you to color. Silly me.

Art for our cover of book 2 is up. This is the first page I've colored where Laz has actually said he liked the page, so I'm pretty stoked.

For those that are bored, and like to hear my brag, I'll explain a some art tricks I did with the page. If you don't like to hear me brag, stop right here.

* I used different temperatures of color to differentiate the sky, golem, and apprentice. The sky is a warm yellowish color, the golem neutral, and the apprentice a cool cyan color.

* I placed the clouds at eye level to help the viewer understand how high the camera was, and the scope of the scene.

* Even though the sun is behind the golem and to its left, I have a secondary light source coming from his forward right. Rarely does a light source just illuminate one side of an object, as the light will usually bounce off some object and return towards the subject. Probably some big fluffy white cloud behind the apprentice reflecting the sun on his back.

* The highlights on the clouds are not as bright as the highlights on the golem. This is to help make them look further away with more atmosphere between them and the viewer.

* Tried to always change the level of light on a surface when it changed direction (something extremely difficult and time consuming with so many bricks involved).

New page is up. This is also the end of book 2.

I like to think this book came out much better than book 1. A stronger story and I think my color improved greatly.

We plan on submitting book 2 to a comic competition site called the TheFabler.com. Book 1 came in 5th place last competition they held, maybe we can take first this time.

We'll have to touch up a couple of pages and create a cover.

I've talked to Laz about maybe changing how we update pages for book 3. Our page layout was originally designed for print. We decided to host it online as an after thought, and kept the same format.

While this is good for us if we can ever sell print versions of our comic, its not the best format for single page updates, as you have less story and panel crammed into a page.

I came across an online comic called FreakAngels that is also produced for print. The writer updates around 6 pages at a time. This allows for large panel art, and still gives the reader a large chunk of story to read.

Would you guys rather we did that? The rate of updates would be much slower, probably every 2 to 3 weeks, but with a much larger chunk of story to read.

There was a bit of miscommunication on the color, and I thought the top 3 panels were sort of a ghostly flashback, not ghost images imposed on the current scene.

Original color was all blue on top 3 panels.

Laz has been feeling under the weather lately. Last I spoke to him was Wednesday. It may be a bit before he draws the next page.

Wish him well.

Its up.

Took me a little longer to get the coloring on this done. Laz sent me the artwork Wednesday night, but I was just too pooped from the work week and the Halloween image to start it until Friday night. Didn't finish until Saturday.

I'd also like to note I was happy with how Laz (Rollkran) decided to resolve the situation: brute strength (which the apprentice as capable of and I'm sure surprised you all) wasn't the answer.

Not every antagonist is necessarily evil.

As a recap of what happened during Halloween, I made this illustration/digital painting/photo composite. The jack o lanterns are real, just reduced in detail and altered lightwise to make them all look like they are on the tree. Originally, they were just jack o lanterns - some unlit - in front of peoples' homes.

My work week is extremely busy monday through wednesdays. Even if laz got me the page today, very little chance I'd have time to color it.

On the plus side, he's told me I won't have to color bricks...

bricks... bricks... bricks....

Hehe.. bricks

*snaps out of it*

... so the page should go faster and be ready by Wednesday night / Thursday morning.
