Subject: Goodbye

I am sorry to say that I wont be able to continue in the games here; circumstances in my life right now are not good and I have had to give up the internet. I had to go to the library in order to post this message.

I offer my apologies to the players and the DM of the games in which I am playing. I hope you can fill my vacancy without any problems. Good luck and best Wishes.

Subject: Relief

Ken heard Jason as he settled up with the bartender and with the Captain; he had to admit that the man was good at his job and he could stay cool under pressure. Ken was known for staying cool too, usually, this unease and tenseness at the appearance of the ASREV was uncharacteristic of him.

He could see the landing gear of the ship out one of the windows as the ship came in to land; he sighed as he saw the insignia of the Federal Marshalls on the ship.

“It’s Feds,” he said with a note of relief in his voice.

Hearing Jason talking of leaving he nodded and seemed to agree with that decision.

“Aye, that sounds like a good idea,” he said as he downed the last of his drink and nodded as it was a far sight better than the swill he had been drinking, “I think I will accompany you three back to the ship.”

I have no problems with the 'liberties' taken with the previous encounters; they do seem in keeping with Ken's persona.

DHarem turned to start down the passage the woman directed him to when the newcomer walked up and started asking questions. He was about to tell him that he would have to wait on explanations when suddenly Bon and Varis walked into the room.

The Seeker smiled at seeing his old friends well and walked up and laying a hand on Varis’s shoulder he smiled.

“It is good to see you well again my friend,” he said to Varis in particular, “I had heard you were injured but I see you have recovered as well. Everyone seems to me making miraculous recoveries around here lately.”

He turned his head to glance at Thomas who also had shown remarkable healing abilities. He noticed the Newcomer standing there again and it reminded him.

“This man,” he said to Varis motioning to Walker, “has come searching for a Seeker, a Bard and a Sacrelarch for whom he has a message; from whom I do not yet know. But I think the odds are good that we are the ones for whom the message is intended.”

Subject: Trouble already?

Ken was tense as the stranger spoke up and approached their ‘client’, his hand never strayed far from his pistol. But Norm didn’t object to the newcomer, whose name apparently was Howard, so Ken didn’t do anything but be ready just in case.

He relaxed as the two turned to leave the place and he turned to the Captain and Jason and raised an eyebrow in wonder at what exactly just happened? He didn’t get time to voice any concerns before the whine of engines filled the air and he looked up and then towards the windows.

He wasn’t an expert on engine sounds like Grace but when she said it sounded like a ASREV, he knew what that meant.

“Alliance or Feds,” he mumbled, loud enough for all at the table to hear but he seemed to be saying it more to himself than anyone. He stood up as he said it and appeared visibly tense; he turned from the window and back to the crew.

“This cant be good.” he said in a statement that probably was very obvious to all of them, “we should get the guay out of here!”

DHarem does not accompany the two outside; instead he lets them go and turns to the woman there and inquires about the location of Varis.

He doesn’t know what Karrain is up to but this sudden change in his already strange behavior has put distrust into the Seeker. What secrets does this Sarcelarch have and what harm can it cause their group. The mage is new to them and while he has shown he has skills he has yet to garner the trust of the Seeker and such strange behavior as this will not move him in the right direction in the eyes of DHarem.

“Excuse me miss,” he asks the woman, “I am seeking a friend of mine. Varis, he was brought in along with the wounded Councillor I believe. If he is alright I would like to see him please.”

DHarem is taken aback for a moment as Karrain basically cuts him out of the conversation and tries to take the newcomer outside; he interjects and steps in the way stopping them from going outside.

“Hold on,” he says sternly, “if there is something this man needs to say then he should say it to all of us. I believe he said he had a message for the three of us.”

He has only know Karrain for a short time and he is not yet use to his strange solitary behavior.

Subject: A newcomer

Seeing Bon sitting inside the Scarlet Clinic DHarem realized this must be the place; they walked over still supporting Thomas.

“Varis is still inside,” he said in a manner that made it sound kind of like a question but then maybe it was a statement, “We convinced the Guard Captain to release Thomas and we need to get him some care.”

Thomas suddenly coughed again and then slowly stood up on his own and looked as if he wasn’t injured. DHarem gaped for a moment and then stuttered, “What?…. Ah.. How? Ah…???”

As he paused to gather his wits and try to make sense of this miraculous recovery of Thomas’s, he overheard someone say something that drew his attention… it was a man who had entered while they had been talking with Bon and he heard the man speak of a Seeker, the Bard, and the Sacrelarch?”

DHarem spared a glance at Karrain before he turned back to Thomas and said, “We will address this situation in a few moments but for now…“ he turned then to the man who had spoken and said, “Excuse me sir. I might be able to help you with that if you will pardon the interruption?”

“I am DHarem, a Seeker for the Great Library, and this is Karrain, a Sacrelarch,” he said introducing the man with him, “our friend Varis is a Bard and is within this very Clinic somewhere. I am not sure we are the ones you are asking of but the odds are in our favor.” He smiled slightly as if he had made a joke as he looked this newcomer over as if accessing any potential dangers.

“You said a message?” he asked the man, “would you like to wait for our friend to deliver it? If so I am sure we can find him shortly.”

(OOC: Very nice post Incognito. Ok so now cue Varis - entrance stage Left )

“Very well then,” DHarem said as it seemed he had taken over the job of scheduling this duel, “we will call upon you at Secondstrike on the Tenday from today.”

Turning to Karrain he gestured for him to follow, “Come along Karrain, we have business to attend to and you can satisfy your honor later.”

(Assuming Karrain follows)

“We must collect Thomas and find Varis,” he said as he leads Karrain towards the street vendors shop where he left Thomas a few minutes ago, “if he was injured as Bon said then he would have been taken to the nearest clinic.”

Arriving at the vendor’s shop he walks behind it to where he left Thomas (Assuming he is still here since it has only been a few minutes) he helps haul Thomas to his feet, hopefully with Karrain’s assistance, he pulls out 5 Electrum pieces and tossed them to the shop vendor.

“Thank you for your kindness.”

Hauling Thomas between them he heads to the nearest clinic; one to get Thomas some attention and two to find Varis.

(If Thomas is not there let me know and I will alter this post and change actions)

The dark haired man at the corner table watched the musicians performance and when the young Drow girl jumped upon the stage and began to dance about his expression grew perplexed at first and then her enthusiasm became infectious and he smiled and watched her dance. She seemed to enjoy it so much that her being one of the hated race was almost forgotten.

He sat sipping his drink and watched the dancing; at ease among patrons even in the presence of Drow whom he has always thought of as the Enemy.

Having finished his meal; the dark haired man at the corner table sat enjoying the music much like the rest of the patrons though he didn’t clap along to the beat. He sat sipping a dark liquor from a short clear glass as he watched the performance; a faint smile on his lips showed that he found the show entertaining.

Movement at the doorway caught his attention and he turned his dark hazel eyes to the small figure that stood in the doorway to the room and the man raised an eyebrow. He reached up and brushed a wavy lock of his shoulder length hair from his face as he studied the small figure which to his eyes looked like a Drow female. The wide smile upon her lips and the light in her eyes spoke of her enjoyment of the performance as well.

The man smirked slightly at the sight; it had been awhile since he had seen a Drow and that one had been at the end of his sword. It seemed this establishment attracted all kinds of patrons; he doubted that this little one was here to cause any trouble as she seemed an odd one. He cant ever remember seeing a Drow smile except when they were involved in torture and killing of others.

We have a new player? Where? I dont see him? He truly is Incognito!

Edited to add: Also, I have suggested ingame that the duel be put off till a later time, orfen this was considered honorable as it gave all parties a chance to prepare properly. Just a suggestion so we can start moving again.

Subject: Fight another day.

DHarem listened to all the talk of duels and where they would fight and shook his head slightly; it was strange to talk about fighting in the future. The Seeker didn’t fight to fight, he fought to defend himself and others not for honor or any such high ideals.

“Ah listen,” he said slowly speaking to both the Guard Captain and Karrain, “this has been a rather tense day for everyone involved, what with the attack on the Councillors and all. If you two are not going to ‘duel’ right now and going to set the place for this ‘duel’ could you set a time say for maybe tomorrow?”

He thought it wise to regroup with the rest of the team, find out what happened with the Councillors and then if Honor needs to be addressed he would gladly ‘Second’ Karrain if he wished it, but for now they needed to find the others and sort this all out.

Ken did what he did and scanned the room keeping an eye out for trouble; the negotiations were Jason’s and the Captain’s job and his was security. He took his job seriously; he cared about his crew and his ship and cared for them all. They were his family and though he disagreed with them sometimes and even bickered with some of them that is what family did, wasn’t it?

Hearing the prospective client order wine for ALL of them, Ken brightened up and slide the swill he had been drinking away from him; if he drank much more he would probably be sick. Wine wasn’t his usual forte, he preferred harder stuff usually, but the wine would no doubt be better than the so-called ‘beer’ he could afford here.

Ken sat up in his chair when the man referred to Grace as babe; he knew trouble was coming. He saw Grace, who was on his left side next to him, sit up straight and start to lay into the man. He nonchalantly reached over with his left hand and sat it gently atop her right hand; one to comfort her and let her know that the Big Boss, as she called him, was not worth it and the other reason was to stay her hand from one of her knives which he knew she must be itching to use. After she finished he slowly removed his hand and offered her a smile if she looked at him. She would know that Ken didn’t care about the man, other than a potential client, but he didn’t want Grace to do anything that might get her and therefore all of them into trouble with the local authorities.

When the wine arrived and was poured all around, Ken took his glass and without all the ceremony of Jason with all the sniffing and swirling; he took a good gulp and nodded his approval and then savored the rest of it while he could.

Ken returned to keeping an eye on the place, especially the entrance since this Mr. Sellers seemed to be nervous about someone coming in and discovering them it seemed. He wondered if his story was true; it seemed the man was hiding something; was the product he wanted them to haul stolen? Was he afraid the other crew he had hired might walk in and be upset he was offering it to another crew? Something wasn’t right; he could feel it. He remained alert for trouble; let the others handle the client.

DHarem raised an eyebrow at the Guard Captain’s question; he looked around at the guards as they stirred back to consciousness.

“I’m sorry I didn’t have a chance to ask their names,” he said with a faint grin, “while they were trying to take my head off.”

He didn’t understand the Captain’s question as his battle with the guards happened here and all of the guards should be in this room unless they recovered while he was gone and had left.

He looked to Karrain waiting on and explanation of why he was here with the Captain.

DHarem comes rushing back into the back of the guard house where the Captain's office is located and finds Karrain and the Captain apparently squaring off against each other.

He over hears the last words of the Captain and pulls up next to Karrain and raises an eyebrow questioningly.

"So what is going on here?" he asked them both though he looks at Karrain.

He glances at the stirring guards who are starting to come around on the floor and then glances sheepishly at the Captain.

"I'm sorry about that," he said with a slight grin, "two to 1 or 6 to 1, they should know better than to accost a Seeker. There is no permanent damage, except maybe to their pride."

Yeah that is the wayI see it. Ken has to have someone to take his money otherwise he wont be dead-broke

Yeah the sparing part was a thought of mine as well. While Ken might be rough and a jerk sometimes, he has shown he cares for the crew and will protect them. That doesnt mean he wont argue with them sometimes much like family is prone to do.

Subject: The Client

Ken frowned a bit at Jason; he had said exactly what he meant to say and didn’t need no one to tell someone what he meant. But Ken kept his mouth closed, he would admit that Jason had an excellent way with words and if he was negotiating for a job then Ken would keep quiet and let him work.

He sighed slightly at the thought of the top-shelf drinks that Jason ordered for the prospective client, the Captain and himself; he downed the last of his swill and made another face at the sour taste. He decided against any more; he saved what little money he had left, which wasn’t much after losing in cards the other night to Jason.

Ken didn’t have much luck with his money; he often lost it in cards or other gambling either to his shipmates or at places they stopped. What he spent was often giving little in return; companions, booze, cigarettes; they left little to show for once the money was gone.

Ken turned his attention to his job; he let Jason and the Captain worry about the client, he kept his eyes out in the room scanning the people searching for anything out of the ordinary or anyone with any undue attention towards their table.
