Reok grins, sheathing his sword and staggering back as his weakened leg protests under the new wheight.
"A ship, eh? By the looks of you you're not bound for Sylvor to trade, by the looks of the coins this 'Pity' of yours flashed around you've just come from there. And dear old burnt, scarred, ashen, forsaken Pandemonium is also probably an unlikley destination. You don't have an army so you won't be paying Kasellis a visit which leaves your destination to be somewhere to the south of here. Somewhere you'd need an extra swordsman I'd dare say."

Reok staggers forwards, dragging the greatsword from his back and settling painfully into a fighting stance, his left side sagging as splinters dug into him.
"Come to finish where your friend left off, Half-Orc, well, it'll be interesting to see if I can use this sword of mine one handed."
Spitting blood, the barbarian grits his teeth, eyes narrowing to leering slits.

Verkoth strides to the room's centre, arms crossed.
"Well, we seem to have everything in order. I'll have the four of you meet me at Redbrick way in three hours. There are some other things I need to organise beforehand."

The spy turns, striding to the door and dismissing the wards with a wave of a hand. "Be there."

With a shrug, Rege' turns as the door swings shut, rubbing his chin.
"Well, since we have this place all to ourselves, drinks anyone."

Reok turns slowly, his mouth twisting to reveal a mouth of filed teeth as he regards Pity over the taproom.
"Alright Tiefling I tell you what, since you're evidently a mage, I'll be nice and remove your spine before ripping it in two..." A pause. "Deal?"
With a roar the barbarian launches himself across the bar, spiritual fires playing across his hard, muscled, frame, hands grasping for Pity's horns.

Subject: Ooh

I'm game, I have a PDF of the 3.5 Rules but haven't had a chance to play (I know the rules quite well), but am experienced in 4th ed and have had some dealings with Neverwinter Nights and other such 3.5-based games.

As for my response:

I, Savan Ghoul, have wandered through catacombs, crypts and the ashen wreckage of woods, the burning remains of my peoples' home. The day before my naming, before all I knew was forged anew in despair, I believed that our traditions, my elven ancestors, had preserved us thorugh these dark times. When those ancestors themselves rose and turned on us my fate was sealed.
That day I learnt the audacity of 'claiming' a name, for how can one claim who he or she is? I, baptised in the dark memories of that night, found my name.
So, like the Ghouls and undead I hunt I now stalk the dark places, lest the dwellers there stalk the surface.
However revenge cannot sustain even the darkest of hearts forever and now I see that to fight for my Lost kinsmen I must not only fight for myself but others as well.

My Character will be an Elven Ranger focused around 2 weapon fighting.

Verkoth frowns at you, what little you can see of his face twisting slightly.
"I believe I outrank you, Journeymage, I asked out of politeness, hoping that you had cooled off after the...incident with your companion. In fact it is because of that incident I selected you, Al'Ral can't run if his legs are frozen solid and can't fight with frostbitten fingers."
"As for you, Lantaris, I'm surprised you have not heard of the war. Coast is being moved on by two great powers, the Celian Empire and League Entire. Both are the other's nemesis and both wish to secure our lands to launch an attack on the other. The coming war will determine whether our culture survives or succumbs to the Celians' blind dogma."

"The good news, however, is that Celia won't be sending it's entire fleet." Rege' adds from aside. "They're also launching invasions on the lands of Sulthein and Arkos...if Arkos can be called a land."

Topic: Flux Wars: Dramatis Personae
Subject: Flux Wars: Dramatis Personae

Okay, this thread is a list of people you've met, your influence with various factions and allies.

The Players:

Takra Elmheart: An expatriate elven elemental mage who grew up in Sena. Currently part of the Senan military.

Crystal Hardwood: A Valsavatharian Journeymage of the Green Circle. Nown for strange mood swings and an acerbic tongue.

Lantaris Narath: An Ilourien-born elf who worked as a bodyguard before joining the military.

Current Compaions:

Rege' (Regarial): Another expatriate elf, apparently having travelled to Coast via the underway with the spy: Kravos Al'Ral.
Influece: 45/100 "Let's Get Them!"*

Allies and Friends:

Chambers: A Sevaraii Master, Chambers is a powerful Blood Mage who dabbles in Occult Mind Control methods. Having formed empathic links with both Crystal and Takra, he now exhorts you to at least follow along with the perliminary stages of his plan, which could see a treaty of peace between the League Entire and Coast...or end up as an assassination attempt to slay all six of Coast's Kings. However, Chambers' link to your minds worked both ways, it is highly likley that he has some of your memories, hopes and desires as well.
NEW
Chambers doesn't seem as bad as he was made out to be, with your help he seems to have brokered a peace between Coast and the League Entire and will surely prove to be a powerful ally in the struggle ahead, he also has a very fasionable pair of leather boots.

Foes:

Verkoth: A necromancer of some description who wishes, for whatever reason, to find Kravos Al'Ral. Is possibly in league with the Sevaraii.
Verkoth, it appeared, had a need for Royal Blood, and worked with Chambers to get at it, he was, however, betrayed by his 'ally' who has now adopted you as his new tools in his current Sevaraii scheme.
DECEASED

Kravos Al'Ral: A foregin spy seeking information he can sell either to the Celian Empire or League Entire. Dangerous enough for Verkoth to require two mages in addition to hismelf to capture. Now working with you for the time being, Kravos is wary of Chambers, but appears to have no qualms about changing sides...if he even took one in the first place.
Bedecked with dozens of charms, Kravos can become invisible for short periods of time, combined with his lethal skills as an archer, he is a formidable foe.
NEW
Kravos, due to the fickle nature of the God he worships, has turned upon you, carrying news of the new League-Coast alliance back to his Celian Masters...you're not sure you want you, Chambers or Skantea to catch up with him first, whatever the case, his end at any one of your allies' hands will be invariably messy.

Others:

The Inquisitor: A tall, incredibly pious man. Seems to wish for privacy despite having situated himself in a busy tavern. A little too heavily armed for a simple stroll in Tulvir's streets. Has earnt Lantaris' suspicion.

Circle Master Raichen: The Circle Master of Valsavathar's Green Circle. Has kept his eye on Crystal's progress and supports her and her ambitions.

Syk Malthorne: A member of the Valsav Vanguard who knows Crystal by reputation at least, he easily saw through Lantaris' signals and was failty amused by them. However, his arrogance is well earned as all members of the Vanguard are incredibly dangerous both in combat and with magic.

*See the Character section for more information.

Subject: Who?

"Ah, my apologies, madam, I believe you mistake me for that elf by the counter..." The cloaked stranger gestures to Rege' and Lantaris who seem to be thrashing out some kind of bargain with the Barkeep.
"My name is Verkoth, now if you would follow me..."
Verkoth slides through the crowded room, slipping a few coins into the Barkeep's hand before leading you up a narrow staircase to a small room similar to the one you just exited save for the blinds on the windows and carpet on the floor.
"Oh, very classy...although worryingly remeniscent of a Vekth mausoleum." Rege' removes his pack, placing it delicatley on the table before taking a seat.
"Indeed." Verkoth murmurs as Lantaris, bringing up the rear, enters the room, a question on his lips.

"Thankyou but is there any reason why you singled me and, errr, these two out?" noding at the other two. "I do believe I have never met any of you before. Is there any perticular reason you wish to talk to me?"

"Well..." Verkoth strides to the door, muttering under his breath before the lock clicks into place and a thin cloack of fog cloacks the windows. "Now that we can speak in private I shall speak plainly. I am Verkoth a section commander in Orsal's counter-espionage branch. We have been tracking a man known as Kravos Al'Ral, from the distant land of Sulthein, after his arrival in Orsal via the underway. We believe him to be something of a 'Free Agent' willing to sell intelligene to both the Celian empire and League Entire...he is in this city and will, doubtlessly, attempt to spy on the council of war being held later today. I was given the liberty of organising a response to this in any way I deemed necessary, which is why I have chosen you. Two mages and a clearly dexterous fighter. As for you...Regarial, I believe you entered Orsal on the same caravan that Al'Ral did."
The elf stiffens at his full name, before shrugging and letting his shoulders slump.
"Alright then, I'm in, if I have a choice in the matter, as for the rest of you I don't know."

1D20+9
result: 3 (+9=12)

Lantaris turns to survey the space behind him even as his sudden movement sends him stumbling into a stranger, his armoured frame covered in buckles and straps supporting the elf's bulky pack and overlarge, masterfully crafted, crossbow.

Cursing, although not at you, the stranger rights himself, an amicable grin crossing his features.
"Steady on there, squire. You almost had yourself over then."

Hearing the newcomer's voice the inn keeper looks up, his expression hardening as he sees the elf.
"No more patrons, this inn is full."

His smile dissapearing into an expression of comic melancholy, the elf scuffs a boot against the dirty floorboards and looks down.
"Surley there's room for one more poor elf, unless you're adverse to Orsal's coin."

The barkeep grits his teeth, about to reply when another figure stepps between him and the elf, a tight grey cloak wrapped about his frame and lank black hair hiding most of his features.
"Come now sirs, surley this matter is not so great as to disturb all of us other drinkers...surley you have a salon or some kind of private bar whose doors this good elf's coin could open?"

At the mention of the salon, the bar goes quiet, three dozen soldiers in various stages of soberity staring at the now sweating barkeep.
"Well...now you mention it, I do have a small room for paying guests. Officers only, of course."

A groan resounds across the room as the soldiers slump back into their seats, the drunker ones checking sleeves and collars in case they had, by chance, been promoted over the course of the afternoon.
A smile playing across his features, the robed stranger motions Lantaris and the other elf to the counter, before striding to Takra and Crystal's table, leaning indiscreetly over with a cough to catch their attention.
"Perhaps you ladies might wish to accompany me to the salon...I expect you can pass this one off as your apprentice, Journeymage."

Back at the bar the elf stepps up, rumaging around his harnesses until he produces a small leather pouch, shaking a few large coins out onto his palm as well as a single jagged shard of what seems to be glass. With a casual gesture, he flicks the coins onto the counter the glass and pouch dissapearing back into his maze of belts.
"My new friend here and I would like to peruse your salon..." He turns to you, still grinning, "the name's Rege,' by the way, Mad Rege'."

The tall man looks up at Lantaris, in the sense that his head moves and closed eyes meet yours.
"I do not require the seat for my prayers, however until they are completed I must remain alone."
Closer examination of this person reveals a rune, crafted from a mix of silver and gold hanging from a pendant around the stranger's neck...the rune of Arcus.

Subject: And so it begins...

Glorious afternoon light bathes the teeming fortress-city of Tulvir, capital of Karth, as throughout its already crowded streets hundreds of soldiers, their livery of all six kingdoms, mingle with the local throng.

The largest nodes of activity are about the numerous taverns as the already crowded alehouses attempt to cater for the massive influx of foreign guests.

In one particular one for instance, the Light of the South sees an arkward scene as two off-duty soldiers mistime their approach to the entrance, both squeezing through the door through virtue of their lilthe frames.

The rightmost of the duo stumbles slightly, her pristine long face, and golden locks playing host to an image of surprise as her blue, moonlike, eyes widen and thin lips part slightly to reveal two perfect sets of white teeth.

Beside her a tall, adolescant has no trouble regaining his feet, pausing to brush down his fine back silk cloak worn over his uniform before his features mirror those of the other as he looks up.

Both Takra Elmheart and Lantaris Narath take in the bursting taproom, noting only two free tables which are surprisingly empty. The first is occupied by an exceptionally tall man clad in a mixture of boiled leather and plate armour, a greatsword and scimitar are scabarded over his shoulders and his head, crowned by a shock of jet black hair, his bent in prayer.

The second table hosts only another human, this one a young woman, clearly from Valsavathar by the fur cloak slung across the back of her chair and the spirits in her cup. A staff lies beside her and the enblem at her throat denotes her as a Green Circle Mage.

Looking up from behind a grimy counter a stocky, bald, man grins humourlessly up at you, a slight scowl marring his features.
"Lucky last two, eh. There's room for no more of you foreigners in this taproom. If you can find a seat you've earnt a free round of drinks."

"Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances involving several estranged countrymen of mine I have spent quite a while trapped within a certain coin...fortunatley I was able to make my escape a short while ago and found myself and companions hired out to protect the Magic councillor...although protect might be too strong a word to use. Karrain straightens, eyeing who he assumes to be the Councillor for defence (or war) up coldly.
"I, sir, am Karrain Unzual, first and last of the Sacrelarch's, the Scourge of Morthan's Field, the Eternal Prisoner, Archmage to Prince Uxas of El-Ethros, the Voidshaper and the Harbinger of Oblivion. I also happen to have over a century of military expertise under my belt and I have seen better defences conducted by drunken Smythian salt-merchants against an elite cadre of Deckie Assassins. I believe that answers your question."

Karrain regards the hunter, ignoring Al'Jantiar's exclamations for the moment.
"Well, Varis will probably be out of action for a while...making it imperative that we find DHarem. As for Thomas, well, I'd enjoy questioning him myself at the moment."
"So, here's the plan. We find DHarem, and get his side of things before we find the mage and get some answers, hopefully not having to extract his viscera in the process. Then, if he doesn't cooperate, we find Thomas, garroting the guard captain with Khan's digestive tract if necessary. Does that sound feasable to you?"

Topic: Flux Wars Q&A
Subject: Revised Character Sheet

Okay, after going over the sheet again I've made a few changes (chiefly adding an equipment section and seperating skills and feats). This shouldn't change things too much, just help add a little more detail.

New Sheet:

Attributes:
15 points to spend, each attribute starts at 2 which is considered the norm for people. You may take points from an attribute to get more points.

Don’t be daunted by the number of attributes, unless they’re class-specific knowledge, strength, alacrity and guile are virtually obsolete.

Strength- (umm…do I need to explain this?)
Fortitude- (physical condition, how fit you are)
Intelligence- (should be self explanatory)
Knowledge- (still obvious)
Control- (your motor control, how steady you are with your body)
Alacrity- (how flexible your body is, how fast you are)
Charisma- (your charm, how well you interact with people)
Guile- (your cunning, how easily you can lie)

Feats:
What your character is good at. Any bonuses he'd get from his class and other backstory bonuses he ought to get.
EG: Longsword training, +2 to hit with longswords.

Skills:
What skills your character has gained. Feel free to add any that aren't included in the list. Ability modofiers are calculated by taking your attribute and subtracting 2 from it. You get an additional +4 Bonus to a skill you believe your character would be profficient (trained) in.

Equipment:
What you are basically armed with (most of this will be standard-issue weapons and armour). Any trinkets/wealth you might carry. I'll PM each of you the salaries you get as recruits from your kingdoms.

Background: What kingdom you come from, why you joined the military. Whether you were a native to coast or not (Quite a few Dwarves, virtually all Mynamade and some Elves and Men are expatriates). Put the bonuses you would get from your kingdom in the Skills and Feats sections but put Background before them so I know where the bonuses you’re getting are coming from.
