Topic: Flux Wars: Dramatis Personae
Subject: Organisations

This part of the thread deals with the various Organisations you'll encounter (I know, didn't see that one coming, did you?), as your influence grows you might be able to join some, or might become deadly rivals of others.

Current Known Organisations:

The Sevaraii
A sect of Blood Mages, Necromancers and other Mage-Assassins in the employ of the League Entire. By far the most outgoing of the League's forces, it seems that they are even willing to use foreigners to work for them...

The Valsav Vanguard
A Sect of Mage-Warriors hand-picked from the finest candidates of Green Circle Mages who show some skill with arms these elite warriors form Skantea's bodyguard and act as enforcers and agents.
Membership: Avaiable to Crystal
Requires: Level 8
At least 8 Strength at least 6 Control

"Ma'am." The Corporal stands smartly to attention, the private beside him following suit and casting a strange glance at Lantaris. "If you've buisness in the palace then you may go on, assuming that buisness involves your...euh, associates then by all means go ahead."
"Just try not to piss Skantea off with your performing clown, Hardwood." The second guard mutters as you pass, flashing up a wristband bearing the enblem of the Green Circle and a wolfish grin. "Syk Malthorne, Valsav Vanguard, you can tell the guards at the next checkpoints you've got my clearance."

The still-hooded newcomer stood, head bent, as the king adressed him, absorbing what little he was told. He was no longer the rootless, pity-swathed, pilgrim, weeping endless tears into a soul allready filled to bursting, now, he had focus, his warped mind had turned from itself to his surroundings, and his hands stroked the pommels and hilts of his scimitars idly as his riven soul began to think again, worm its way through the cracks of reasoning towards his goal.

-----------------------------------------------------------
"You're an assassin, Raze, a Devil-Cursed merciless killer, you don't solve problems, you make them."

"How many did you put to your blades for your dreams? How many nightmares did you spawn for your hollow psyche?"

"Hey, Raze, how about some charity work? How about you put this entire rotting 'fort' out of its misery right now?"

"Sometimes evil negates itself, doesn't it, you've always been able to walk the line between a merciless butcher of the innocent and a crazed slaughterer, you've got power, just apply it right, you know, a little pressure at the foundations of all this mess..."

"Oh, you're good Raze, give yourself a pat on the back and a diamond ring. You've got an excuse to start over again...after all, desperation is the universal condonance."

"Oh yes, I can see that, the black hearted, damned, assassin with his soul ripped in three ways by three devils which were all owed a part of it, acting as the noble knight protector, I think I'll take that diamond ring before you use it as a murder weapon."

"True, but directed murder...or assassination. No, famine has completed that task for us...all we need is a spade. Not even cover of darkness this time, after all, the mage will be in her master's chambers."
--------------------------------------------------------

"Perhaps," Hissed Razor's lips, his hooded eyes glaring out at the two who had spoken. "It would not be such a bad idea to heard people off into the wilderness. Shall we start with the ailing and feeble, or the dissenters? With luck their bodies might draw vultures, which in turn could sustain us for weeks if rationed properly. The grin that flashed out revealed twin flashes of metal where Razor's incisors should have been, replaced instead by silver fangs."
"In absence of such a solution, I shall have to revert to my own methods. I shall require a spade and pick to break the ground and at least an hour's solitude outside the city walls and complete isolation whilst I dig."
"Is that acceptable?"

Hi and welcome to the inn.

It seems that everyone's been over the necessary admin with you (try to keep out of Gerald's Fridge too, it's not an experience either Tuned_Out or I would wish upon anyone else).

If you're looking for a game there are a few in need of revitalisation at the moment (I should know as I'm DMing 2 of them and playing in most of the rest) so check out that part of the forum if you've the mind.

You pass the remaining minuts of the short journey in silence, Chambers' ultimatum still echoing through your minds.
Ahead looms the bulk of the palace, it's superbly manned defences bristling with guards and rust-red stone walls adorned with the banners of Coast's Kings. You have little time to admire the view, however as two soldiers at the end of the road beckon you over, the higher-ranked of the two (a corporal) scowling.
"This area is off limits, I don't know what you're playing at but unless you want to spend some quality time in the Barrack Cells clear off."

Feeling the vitality return to his bones, Reok presses on grimly towards the tower. Whoever was there would hopefully be able to tell him where one could find a library, or at least should be able to with such a big dower...the barbarian smiled as he imagined such a structure back on Pandemonium, he could almost see the Demons tearing it down when he closed his eyes.

Guards were always the same, swaggering when on duty, drunk when off and that bit cockier or more conservative when they came for you.
It took all of Razor's instincts not to stride into the shadows, give in to their cloak, or, if one of the men happened to be a Paladin and were able to see his sins throughout the cloying darkness, fall back to his scimitars.
He played the situation out in his head, two steps forwards, a leap, blades scything out to connect with the men's exposed throats, one hasty block from the man on the left, clearly the more able of the two, whilst his companion collapsed from the wound. A roll to bring him upright, a spark of hellflame to cover his unguarded chest before both blades sliced home.

"Hey, Zombiehead."
The two weren't helping their case, still he nodded for them to continue...meeting the news with mixed joy and dismay.

If there are religious characters the wizard, perhaps, could offer to have their weapons/armour blessed (2nd DM guide). Or alternatley the Dragon could send minions to attack them at some point, believing that they are allied with the wizard (although they might not be). This then opens the option for you to reverse the quest, have the PCs seek out the Dragon and make peace with it in a skill challenge and then go back and slay the wizard instead, bringing his staff back to the dragon as proof (and getting some magic items/potions from the Wizard's vaults).

Would it be possible for players to get their sheets to me ASAP, I'm getting progressivley buisier so would like to be able to plan a little around what party I'll be GMing for.

Topic: Flux Wars Q&A
Subject: Experience and character development

Ok, I've added the experience from your first fight/skill challenge to your character sheets. For a reference here's the xp you'll need to get to the next few levels and the 'bonuses' you'll get from levelling up.

Level 2
Requires 50 experience
Get 1 Combat based feat (ie - weapon training)
Get +1 to a primary class attribute and to 2 secondary class attributes.

Level 3
Requires 125 experience
Train in a new skill or get +2 to a skill you are allready trained in.
Get +2 HP

Level 4
Requires 225 experience
Get +1 to 2 primary class attributes
Gain first "Heroism Skill"
-More than a soldier-
Gain a 2 damage reduction against basic foes.

You'll notice I've mentioned things like Heroism Skills and Primary Class Attributes. The Latter is fairly simple, it's one of your two higher attributes that your class will make the most use of. The former is a bonus you get every 4 levels which sets you apart from the common soldiery of Coast, Celia and the League Entire. In this case you are far more able to shrugg off deliberating battlefield injuries, whether through superior training, experience or a stubborn refusal to give in.

I'm also adding in an alternate way of leveling up based upon roleplaying ability. Whenever I feel that you have made a great step forwards with your character I'll give you some bonuses based upon what your character is leaning towards. This is most obvious at the moment in Takra's case as she already starts off with a 'trigger' that will launch her on her path. So by taking vengance against Celia she'll progress in a more retributive sense, getting bonus powers and feats that sculpt her towards a more vengeful fighting style.

Also, you may have noticed that your character sheets include hit points. This is calculated by either your strength or 1/2 your strength (depending on your class) added to 2 times your fortitude. Each level you will either have the option of increasing 1 or both of those attributes or get a hit point bonus, so you'll always be getting HP.

"Off we go then." Al'Ral murmurs, quieter than usual, falling into step with Lantaris as you set off, his longbow still strung and arrow resting lightly in place, balanced on a slender finger. Bending in, the archer mutters to you.
"What did Chambers say that made Takra and Crystal so convinced...I've seen victims of Mind Control before and neither of the two displayed any similar symptoms..."

Meanwhile, behind the two, Rege strides, facing the cobbles, clearly put off by the turn of events. Occasionally, he mutters something that Takra understands to be an estranged (and incomprohensable) dialect of elfin.

"Very well, Tryean, I'll take up your offer of lodging, I'll be spending some time around whatever Grand Library you've got here if you need me...something tells me that Pity will do his best to avoid going there, the clientelle is probably too sophisticated for his tastes."
With a nod to Martim and the scholar, Reok turns, limping towards the gangplank with as much dignity he is able to muster.

Don't worry, I'm happy to wait a week, putting the finishing toutches to character creation should take about that long anyway...

As for the Halfling...

If he's a rogue then he might have sprung some kind of trap when exploring a catacomb (burials usually take place in vast masuleums in Lisaren) or could have used some cash he made to have it crafted on, perhaps after an injury...

If he sprung the trap and got his arm turned partially to metal it's a substance others can't identify (if you've let alchemists that close to your arm), otherwise it's just magically galivinised steel.

I'll give you an automatic +1 shield bonus to AC (but not reflex) and Fortitude, however you take a -1 armour penalty to acrobatics, thievery and stealth checks...alternatley I can remove the Fortitude bonus and the penalties to stealth and thievery. I think this is fairly fair, however if you want to negotiate feel free.

"Very well," Al'Ral lowers his bow, glaring at the undead. "Dismiss your servitors and free my friends' minds and we will play it your way."

"Of course," The undead bow, dropping half way through as their animus fades. "I only require your compliance, now hurry along, we wouldn't want to keep the good Kings waiting."

As the presence fades, so too does the connection between your and Chamber's mind. With this comes the realisation, Chambers wasn't using Mind Control, he was using a Mind Link, both your minds and his were joined together for those moments...with this comes the realisation that the choices you made were your own...

"Well, I'm glad that's over with, mutters Rege' uncocking his crossbow. "Now, who's up for a spot of high treason."

The only limitation is that you can't play a Shardmind, and that you discuss with me powers from Divine Power, ect.

Okay, so, we've got a Rogue and a Wizard, as I said, send me the details when you're ready.
