Just sending out a notice here, whilst the game seems to have picked up again now that exams are mostly over I'm hoping for at least one more player, I can carry on without, as long as no-one drops out now.

The abdomen strike powers forwards, however despite Lantaris' prodigial speed his anger has broken his focus as Verkoth spins to the side his fist hammering into Lantaris' gut, causing the elf to bend over, goraning in pain. However, before the assassin has time to follow through a shaft slams into him, piercing his archaic armour below the ribcage and sending Verkoth stumbling back.
"A thousand black curses upon you Al'Ral, may your eyes boil in your heart's blood!"

Nodding to Althram, Savan also takes up position this current turn of events had abruptly reminded him why he preffered keeping his own company...you don't have to go running round after others.

((OOC) I'll make a detect motive check against Althram, to see how he's taking my arrival.)

Celtia's looking for some players for Scarred Continents, and my game, Flux Wars, could also do with another hand (then again both of us have slowed down over the exam period).

Subject: Time to fly

Hearing Althram's warning and seeing him go after the mage, Savan holds his lantern high, striding purposefully after the man. Flicking a glance to his eagle, it's head cocked, the elf nodded, letting Kvashlor fly from the burning building.

"You will need my light and eyes to navigate this gloom, knight. And you will certainly need my limbs to drag a choking man from this building." Savan explains as he catches up to Althram, his eyes narrowing on the enblem hung on the paladin's throat.

"A white badger...new family..." Savan saved his focus for more pressing matters, not bothering to examine Althram's geneology, not that it would have done much good, his knowledge of noble houses consisted of what weapons they were usually buried with, and what traps they usually rigged their crypts with. Whatever the case, he and Kvashlor were certainly not in Wydrenan Valley anymore, or any new extension added to the Borthal Family Mausoleum.

Examining his armoured companion further Savan noted the sword and repeated device of Coreon, along with Althram's excellent physical condition...someone unafraid to charge into a burning building, who knows how to use a sword, and is religious, with a warhorse and a shield that would probably have him tend towards a slower, more defensive, style of combat. Selfless, proud, clearly with a wealthy background of some kind or another...all of the things Savan wasn't...no wonder he had been drawn after the Paladin. Then again, what would a knight care for a pessimistic elf with a cloak that was half too big, half too small for him and enough weapons to arm a small patrol of soldiers?

Well, he would find out soon enough. Savan mused as the two reached the taproom and it's attendant dragon-mat.

Subject: The elf's going to hit the fan

Wow, I just sleep in and suddenly you're all trying to kill each other, I couldn't be more proud.
I'll go through this post-by post since there's quite a lot gone on.

Takra's first arrow flies past the undead, shattering against the brick of a wall, however the elf finds her courage and the second dart strikes a creature in the throat, ripping through tendons and causing it to stagger by the deadly blow.

Meanwhile, Lantaris' first blows are evaded by Verkoth as he stepps in, however the bodyguard's speed sees the follow-up blow send the assassin sprawling onto the cobbles even as crystal's avelanche causes Lantaris to stumble, dropping his loosly gripped daggers before he turns to confront the Valsavatharian.

Struck by multiple threats to themselves and their master, Verkoth's minons split, two running at Tarka and the others at Lantaris whilst the wounded one staggers away from the fight, its head hanging at an unhealthy angle. Once combatant, however, still lies almost forgotten...until.

"Crystal, Lantaris!" Rege's voice cuts throug the din of the escalating melee.

Lantaris reaction check: 29
You manage to turn and duck just as a resurgent, and infinetly more irate, Verkoth launches an overhead swinging kick at you, his long-knives forgotten. Perhaps turning around wasn't a brilliant idea...

Crystal reaction check: 24
Despite your chilled limbs you fall to the ground as an arrow from a longbow flies from the shadows of one of the streets, striking the already wounded cadaver behind you.

"Dammit Al'Ral, she's on our side!" Rege staggers to his feet, crossbow still cocked. Before loosing a shot off at one of the corpses staggering towards Takra, the glint of Greenjade amplifying as it passes through the chill mists of the avalanche. The elf's real condition becomes apparent as the shot is horribly off, as does his luck as the quarrel punches into one of the undead advancing on Lantaris, ripping it asunder with a detonation that leaves even Rege' amazed.

Subject: Bad idea, friend

As Lantaris launches himself forwards Verkoth, with as much speed as he was possessed of earlier, swings Rege' around, hurling the elf in Lantaris' path.
"Traitor...we shall see who has betrayed who once your blood cools in this shattered plaza!" The assassin roars, drawing his second knife and dropping into a guard position, even as a vortex of chill wind surges through the courtyard and the corpses around you begin to stir.

______________

Verkoth stands to the right of the statue whilst 5 undead are rising, one at each of the roads leading from the plaza, formin a 5 pointed star with the assassin.

Combat will work as such:
Post what action you wish to take and I'll do the necessary dice rolling and number crunching for you (and send you a PM if something doesn't work).

So, en guard.

I feel that I should explain this short side trip of mine. As I mentioned on my character sheet Karrain has to 'chanell' for a few hours each day, whilst this time he can simply abuse the massive amount of energy at his disposal and fend off the worst of the Mana Shard's effects at later dates he will have to spend his full 3 hours.
I thought it would be a useful way to introduce that quirk and explain a little more bout the Mana Prison and Body, even if Sy'karios has appeared, again.

"Sy'karios." Karrain stares at the statue, eyes burning with barley controlled rage. Well, if he had provided the Sacrelarch with the energies required to halt the voracious expansion of the Prison then Karrain would use them, he had run out of time for other alternatives.

Striding into the Academy, Karrain takes a seat in the centre of the courtyard, facing away from the statue before, with a muttered string of Anathemum, drew his attention inwards to the shard of foreign mana lodged in the heart of his Body...extracting it was virtually impossible, that would tear him apart as surley as a return to the Malestrom would. However with so much ambient mana of a similar type in the air around him he didn't need to.

To stop the pull he would need to find some sort of way of reversing it, drawing the mana from the prison out through the shard where it would be attracted to the academy...in theory it was sound, however he would need to draw on a lot of the magic around him which, unfortunatley, meant trusting Sy'karios...again...

As he began working Karrain wondered if there was enough ambient magic around him to construct another prison.

Subject: Well, now isn't that interesting

"Wait, so you're suggesting that because Verkoth's men attacked me that I'm responsible for 'murder?'" Rege' almost laughs. "Also, why would Verkoth kill you if he clearly needs your help for something...as for me I told you, almost all of my Greenjade was siezed in Orsal, all I've got left are my quarrels...although now I come to think of it, given time I could probably rig them to bring down this plaza-"
"Which is all fine, Regarial, but I have a particularly tight schedule from which I cannot deviate." The elf snapps his attention back to Verkoth too late as the assassin steps forwards, a knife snapping out faster than thought as his other hand swings Rege' around before the Spymaster turns, ensuring that the crossbow is pointed away from you. "All that I ask of you is Al'Ral's location, nothing more, nothing less."

"If I were a Sevaraii Commander then I would be sending one of the more subtle men I had under my command to infiltrate the Decadance.' Growls Rege', not taking his eyes off Verkoth.
"As for me I believe that Regarial here has turned to the side of Kravos Al'Ral, after all the two did arrive in Coast together and whilst I doubt that the good elf yonder has any ill will against your lands he is loyal to his companion. No-one here has necessarily betrayed anyone, after all, these corpses are Sevaraii and I am clearly not a Sevaraii."
Verkoth smiles at you, making an effort to keep his hands from the hilts of his long-knives.

Karrain hurries through the city's streets, trying to recall the sight of the Old Academy. Hopefully with enough ambient energy he would be able to disperse the worst of the corona of energies dragging at him, although to trust one's luck in the buisness of high order magic was similar to trusting your feet on a tightrope above a pool of Fangeels after three hours heavy drinking.

Turning the final corner Karrain raises an eyebrow at the sight before him...

(Hoping that the GM will fill me out on the details of the Old Tithuanian College of Magic).

"Perhaps, then, you could explain why your men attacked me?" Rege' still has his crossbow trained on Verkoth, the tip of his bolt gleaming all too brightly to be steel. "And why you even bothered trying to enlist us in the first place."
"I will explain everything, elf, when you tell me where I can find Kravos Al'Ral." Verkoth crossess his arms, glaring at the shard of Greenjade pointed at his chest. "In fact, why should either of us be the judge of the other's loyalties. Let our three friends decide who is guilty, if either of us are."
Neither man moves from their positions, not even swaying to regain their balance.

Reok grins, accepting the poffered cup.
"Can't be any worse than Nelzadru Ichor...although then again Vratan didn't actually survive all that long after drinking it..."
"As for hiring me, well, I have my own reasons for travelling and at the moment Sylvor and Arvale aren't the best places for me to be. Let's leave it at that shall we. Besides, since you're both an apothacary and mage I'm going to have to find a way to end Pity that doesn't involve my sword or your herbs. Not too difficult if we're bound for the South of this continent."
Before Tryean can answer Reok downs the contents of the cup, after all it probably wasn't worse than Neldrazu Ichor.

"Very well." Verkoth strides off down one of the many side streets leading from the Way.
"Al'Ral should be in a courtyard not far from here. He can't run, the streets leading to it provide no cover, and I find it unlikley that he will resist us. He may be professional but he's not stupid.
I would prefer it if Lantaris stunned him rather than coating the man in frost, but if that is the only way to subdue him it can't be helped."
Silence falls upon your quartet for a short while before you finally turn into a perfectly straight road, leading up to a courtyard dominated by a tall, iron statue depicting one of Karth's kings, behind it you can faintly make out a figure leaning against it's pedestal, humming a barley audiable tune.
Suddenly far more urgent, Verkoth increases his pace, his black cloak flapping back to reveal greaves and a moulded curiass of a foreign design, whilst two long knives are sheathed at his side.
As you enter the courtyard you finally notice the object of Verkoth's disress, bodies of men clad in black and in some cases grey robes litter the slate pavement, some clutching curved blades and others with orbs or rods carved with strange glyphs.
"So, Verkoth, still confident you've got this one?" A familiar voice speaks from behind the statue as Rege' battered and scratched steps out from behind the statue, crossbow levelled at the Spymaster. "We were fools to trust you, although for a Sevaraii you fooled us alarmingly well."

With a jolt you register the elf's words, the Sevaraii are the elite mage-assassins of the League Entire.

His sudden urgency gone, Karrain relaxes slightly, refocusing with effort.
"Alright, sorry about that, I believe that I owe you an explanation, DHarem. It appears that my prison isn't quite as gone as I'd like it to be, at the moment there's a shard of alien mana stuck in me, continuously pulling my essence towards the malestrom that the prison has become...an experience I doubt that I'd survive."
"As for this man...there's something about him, I'd like to hear more, epsecially if it's got to do anything with your 'Equilibriate.' However if I could first find somewhere quiet to sort out my own problems I'd be much obliged."

"Sacrelarch..." Karrain's head snaps up as he withdraws himself from examining his Mana Body situation, eyes focusing upon the lanky, stubbled, stranger.
"See to Thomas and Varis, I will speak with this man." With an apologetic bow he turns, straightening rapidly and striding over to Walker.
"Alright, something tells me we need to talk, something more important than my increasingly imminent demise or any of this City's petty polotics or customs." He motions for Walker to follow him (assuming that he does) as he strides outside, stopping as he exits and sidestepping to the right so he is out of sight of anyone from within. With a word of Anathemum, Karrain whisks a shroud of silence around the two, his eyes boring into the younger (I'm assuming that Walker's not eight-thousand and sixty-five or older) man.
"Alright, you can tell Sy'karios that if he doesn't show his face soon I'll be ramming that golden staff of his down his throat."

Yeah, Celtia's stuck in the middle of a ton of exams, ect. ATM.

Also, greetings, Incognito, it's good to see heroes willing to do their bit for the community...however there's one thing I'd like to adress. The Ethronians made sure that no-one knew about Karrain or the arts of Sacrelagy after his imprisonment, as a 'class' it died out millenia ago with Karrain being the first and last one. Knowing me I didn't make that particularly clear...

"I've had worse." Reok massages his splintered arm, as it begins to numb...probably not a good sign. "Alright, Creek, here's what I'm offering, you heal me then, since I'm feeling nice today we can talk about hiring me on. That'll count was whatever compensation you were planning for me and ensure that I finally manage to leave this blighted city. Deal?" The barbarian bares his teeth in a grin, made all the more feral by the trails of blood flowing down his left side.
