Topic: could you put guns in a classic dnd game?
Subject: its all in the eye of a beholder (heh punz)

i suppose it all about how you go about making your dnd game as involving and fun as possible and what would and wouldnt work well in a fantasy game. such as made up weapons or customization for even the most simple or common items in the game. however i have noticed that more detail and interactivity makes any game more fun.

(not sure i explained it in a non offencive ,understandable way)

and tomorrow ill post another topic that should punch your brain into shape with another great question

Topic: could you put guns in a classic dnd game?
Subject: your right darren

but remember the power to stop a horde of dragons with your party would be worth the millions of platinum you would have to spend . and i think it was the way i put it in that made it sound op not the idea itself (i mean 200gp for a weapon that only does 10 damage and then another 100gp for a sizeable amount of the weakest ammo that only does 5 damage and no special effects other than it wouldnt feel very good in your eye) doesnt sound too op now i hope :-/ .

EDIT:also all the parts effect eachother using the weakest stats of each part so not all customizations would be very good (even though said parts make it look ba)and the requirements for it are rather high if put in a dnd game using a high amount of str and dex to use not to mention lv and skill req

but we could have special armor that could stop bullets or atleast reduce the damage of one anyway. but also i would have made the more powerful guns rarer anyway not to mention how expencive they would be.

Topic: could you put guns in a classic dnd game?
Subject: gnomes invent everything

they really do

anyway some mishaps i thought up for hand cannon
-cannon doesnt have enough powder, drop cannonball on your foot, too much gunpowder roll a 16 or your cannon is destroyed roll16+ and it just loses 25% durability luck also helps, accidentally shoot the supporting pillars of the building your in(oops),someone (through skill or luck) manages to plug the cannon before you fire:better hope your cleric can cast revive.

bowguns are useful (and diverse)
bowguns can be light,med,or heavy
bowguns can use many kinds of ammo (pellet[shotgun type ammo],peirce, exploding ect.)
bowguns can use magical ammo(water,fire,lightning,poison,dragonfire[closerange])
bowguns are uber expencive(200gp for the weakest, least expencive one that can only use lv1 non magical shots)

Topic: could you put guns in a classic dnd game?
Subject: thanks to you two

bowguns are similar to crossbow but fire various types of ammo that only they can (ie certain bowguns could use a shot that does water damage), even to make multiple attacks with one bullet (ie a bowgun that specializes in underwater combat could shoot 3 sub shots but uses only one ammo),complety customizeable you can change stocks frames and barrels to fire many different kinds of ammo (although maybe not as effectivly) and would be almost (if not as or more) expencive than mini cannons.
also the bow gun is an idea from a video game series called monster hunters, but it sounded like something you could put in a dnd game.

Subject: could you put guns in a classic dnd game?

i think yes, but nothing modern however. i beleive guns in the classic dnd would be more along the lines of flintlocks, automatic crossbows, bowguns, and miniature cannons.
all of course having their pros and cons (ie autocrossbows do very little damage but roll 3d# or how mini canon does massive damage and can destroy walls but holds only 1 shot and takes 3-5 turns to reload) guns would be very expensive too around 50gp for a good flintlock, ammo would be a cheaper 30 silver for 50 shots (in this case gunpowder for your new flintlock). i would like to see all of your opinions on this however.

Topic: Radiance and vengence
Subject: feeling under equiped

the sounds of battle had stopped. veron looked around but other than the many trees around he only saw the blurred shapes of takley, jericho, and a dead pigeon, veron guessed it was safe enough. veron (ignoring the pain of his injured arm as best he could) decided to pocket any food and money their attackers had on them perhaps a pair of seeing lenses if he found one that fit him, veron also tried to make them presentable for their passage into death (which was difficult because most of them had their bones turned into pulp). he places a copper on each of their heads to pay articules god of the slain so they could ferry to the gates of judgement (veron wasnt very religeous but it was how he was brought up an it felt right to him).

the pidgions came out of nowhere and where divin at the group trying to get in a hit. out of the cornere of his eye veron could see jericho chargin twords the birds.one pidgion swooped low enough that veron might be able to land a kick on it, and veron attempts to hit the pigion with a spin kick.

Topic: Radiance and vengence
Subject: wait a sec purple leaves?

something didnt seem right... but what was it, veron looked around other than the altar nothing seemed out place. he check for any unusual sents or sounds, the trees next to the altar smelled strange, like honey mixed with bad eggs, and now that he looked at them he saw the leaves were a purple color. he knew what they were now fire maple trees named so its spicy syrup and flammabilit, under them were various plants and meats as well as.... a rather unfortunate tauran(cow person).
"who did this"wondered veron"no-one from around here thats for sure"

"hey put me down i can walk faster you know!" well atleast i can find the others now
he hered the rapid chittering of squirrle speak behind him, when takley finish veron apologised, although he didnt say it veron didnt know what made him thingkof wandering off, he guessed it was because he was so tired.

Subject: the altar

not looking back to check veron was sure jericho would follow or try stop him but he wouldnt he was worried because he couldnt find takley and assumed the worst and that after more than 20 years he still knew little of his friends but veron wanted to know what had happened more than before. he saw the altar in a clearing and something on it ,but he couldnt see it from here. skirting around the edge of the clearing veron tried to get a better view...

"we should see whats going on"says veron looking in the direction the screaming came from"lets be careful though" hopeing he isnt doing something stupid veron begins to move in the direction the screams came from beleiving guardian takley will stop him if he was.

Subject: jokes and picking up where others leave off

quickly getting over his surprise and now alert veron says jokingly"thats good, i had almost forgotten i needed sleep." and then to takley "you'd think we'd have gotten use to his sudden appearences by now...." veron begins to wonder why they havent seen anyone else on the road lately there would usually be some travelers or tradesmen on the road to the bird clan village maybe it was just a slow day or something but even that was bad because no trade means no stone for building and no metals for more hunting equipment particularly spears with of course means no meats and .... 'im thinking too much of it'veron mumbles to himself'it isnt tradesday anyway'

Subject: traveling...

it was late, they had decided to keep traveling hoping to find a good campsite... still havent found a space in the trees to put even one tent and camping in the middle of the road isnt the best idea. not that sleeping was something veron particulaly likes doing, because he still had nightmares of the destruction of his village and the deaths of almost everyone he knew. he kept on walking too tired to do much else.

(OOC:have a feeling this is going to be a great adventure!)

(just down the street from the inn you see the local forge but its not just any forge.....)

its the magical forge of item creation (M.F.I.C)!!!!

here you can post your item ideas regardless of whether its magical, a sword, armor, or even something silly like a turd shooting slinky.(just dont post anything thats too vulgar for our younger innmates/viewers).

heck maybe if your really lucky (and i mean REALLY lucky) your post could be put in alacrity`s magical item by the rdi staff (or not ,its really not up to me).
