Sorry, I didn't even notice this was updated. I will have to be more thorough when I check things over next time.

Reynard moved down the stairs, shield on his left arm and torch in his right hand. He hoped the would encounter too much, as he would have a very hard time fighting. He'd either have to drop his torch for his shiny new sword, or fight with that. At least he'd be able to cover whoever stood near him with his shield.

To no one in particular, Reynard thought out loud, "When I was a child, my parents told me that it is normal to fear the dark. You never know what lurks in the shadows."

They briefly examined the room, before checking around the room. The beds could be a nice place to camp once they had searched the basement level.

Trossach and Ochit began to prepare to move to the right door, Reynard followed up behind them. "Anyone have a free hand to carry this torch for me? I'd like to be able to wield my sword," Reynard asked.

Subject: My thoughts on the persons...

Both Tann and Sibelius Eos Owm make valid points. I do have 1 major different thought than Sibelius in that I find that 3rd person allows you to explore multiple characters thoughts. It is not mandatory to do this, but, if you have multiple major characters at once, this can be useful. I am reading a series called the Traitor Son cycle right now, and he does this. That being said, I have seen just as many things done in 3rd person that focus on one person at a time as many people.

Something I personally like with 3rd person is you can be more analytical, and describe things the main character doesn't see. It is a little bit weird, but can be done, to describe an event happening where the protagonist isn't, or outside of his awareness.

I myself am very fond of writing in the 3rd person, as I like to have many multiple characters at the same time. As has been previously stated, finding the person that works for you is the best thing you can do.

Ochit moved towards the stairs, while Reynard tested his new metal longsword. Reynard muttered to himself, "I've always preferred the warhammer. I feel it is more of a symbol of peace, as a hammer can build or destroy. Even if the warhammer makes it less useful for the former. I guess the sword is more of a noble and elegant weapon though." He chuckled to himself, before turning around to face the stairs.

He squinted in the dark. Morrigu may have been at home in this light, but he certainly wasn't. Lighting a torch, at least until someone had a more efficient way of making light, he peered down the steps.

As they headed towards the structure, shambling footsteps were heard off in the distance. The zombies were back. As a group, they silently decided to move faster towards the structure. Many would be at a disadvantage in the evening light. Reynard struggled to keep pace in the increasing darkness, frequently stumbling over the ground. With the lack of vision, it was hard for him to continue at this pace.

They all made it to the structure. As they pushed their way in, Reynard was hit by 2 visions. The first one was a fairly dull one, on someone grinding some grain for bread. The other one was more interesting: it involved the locking of some woman into a room. As Reynard got out of the trance, the noticed that the others had a similar experience.

While the others discussed the dream, Reynard remained silent. He didn't like that something had managed to get into his head. However, the weapons on the ground intrigued him. It was rare to see any sort of iron weapons, even degraded as these ones were. He picked up one to investigate it. He knew that metal blades specifically were by far superior to other materials, save some stones like obsidian. Even then, metal was generally more durable than stone and wood. If any of these were still usable, it would be a fine addition to his arsenal.

Ooh, a Heroic Age Greek game! I'm very interested in this game. Of course, you'll have to tolerate my lack of experience with OD&D, though, as my experience is mostly on Pathfinder, 4e, and 5e. I may be needing a bit extra help to create my characters stats properly.

The corrupted land gave Reynard the chills, but he wasn't going to complain. He had a mission to do. The Templars wouldn't accept some unease as an excuse for his cowardice. More than likely, it would be a reason for their death. Even as the sun beat down, the sand became dark and black. In doing so, it created a second source of heat. Reynard felt like he was in an oven, being cooked inside his armour. He felt the moisture running down his back. The washing of his gambeson when he returned to town was not going to be pleasant in the least. Aren noted that this wasn't the same as when he first got here. Partly out of trying to avoid snapping because of heat exhaustion, Reynard said nothing.

Eventually, they found some tattered backpacks. The silence was stifling, quiet enough that Reynard could hear everyone rummaging through the packs. They came up with some more food, so starvation was averted for now.

As the trek continued, Reynard jumped at shadows a couple of times. It had been nothing, but this place was becoming more unnerving every second. He blinked some sweat out of his eyes once again, then continued onwards with the party.

At the end of the trek, they stopped and began to set up camp. A gust of wind blew ash all over them, including their eyes and face. Reynard coughed, tears running down his face from the pain the ash inflicted. Ashe stuck to the inside of his clothes somehow, making him even less comfortable. Taking a drink from his water skin to sate the gravelly feeling in his throat. Finally feeling somewhat better, he looked up to see a small structure, rising above the desolate landscape. Ochit voiced his opinion to wait until morning to go to it.

Reynard hoarsely replied, "Are you sure? I think that structure may be our best bet to survive the night. I don't want to be buried or suffocate out here when more ashe is blown over us." Reynard coughed a bit more ash out of his lungs. It isn't like it would be anymore dangerous out here then in there. Enough of our party is able to see in the dark to get us there."

(OOC: Brave last words, hahaha.)

Sorry, midterm and paper week. I was waiting for others to post too, as Reynard is up for just walking through and fighting. We seemed to fare a lot better than those elves did anyways. Plus, many of us seem to lack stealth.

However, how do we want to approach the decayed lands? Do we want some scouts up ahead of us or just stay as a group?

Reynard joined Trossach in collecting some wood and setting alight the bodies. As they burned, Reynard used his limited knowledge on religion (+2) to give them something of last rites. Giving a brief spoken ritual, he concluded with, "Dei vos curent." He turned back to the party afterwards, and prepared to depart.

Aren, which Reynard had now learned the elf's name was, was picked up by Ochit, who was in no mood to wait around. This suited Reynard fine. Watching the rations in his backpack disappear was not sitting well with him. Walking over to Ochit, he said, "I will stay beside you. If we are attacked, I should be able to cover and Aren you with my shield. That should at least give you time to react."

(OOC: Hopefully my Latin is correct. If not, well I guess Reynard only knowing bits of 'an old language' from his parents fits)

I am fine with some sped up battles, especially since they can take a very long time. The ones that the party is pretty obviously going to win don't really need the weeks of posting (perhaps a post on how we plan on engaging, and then you do it?) It is the ones where there is a major threat of death that need the longer times for posting and planning.

I think we should burn the bodies, then have Aren show us where they dropped their backpacks. We direly need the supplies, and the less time they are in the open the better. If the elf isn't ready to go by the time we leave, Reynard will just carry him.

As for the undead, I think we proceed with caution, and engage them as we come across them. Most of our characters lack stealth abilities, with Reynard being both reluctant to sneak and pretty disastrous at it.

Also, Reynard will use a hit die. He got beaten up pretty badly out there.

Once they had scavenged what they could from the bodies he walked over to where the human was waiting and offered his hand for a handshake, "Forgive me comrade, but it would seem your name has escaped my memory and I would like to know the name of the man who risked his life alongside my own."

Taking the hand, he replied, "Reynard is the name. Reynard Coslett. From what my father said, it is a name from before the Sorcerer king." He shrugged his shoulders. "As for risking my life, it is something I seem to have the tendency to do. Too few people risk their lives to try and make the world a better place."

As the elf awoke, Reynard approached him and Klik. He let Klik get his answer first, to try his best to not repeat what his comrade had said. He followed up with, "How long have you known your allies? I am curious if they will return for you, or just run back to the city."

(OOC: I vote short rest, and then keep moving. I have already posted some of after the rest unintentionally.)

Do you guys want to take a long rest, or keep going? I think we should probably push onwards. Our supplies are definitely running out and, unless we come across more somehow, I'd rather not be weakened by the time we arrive at the ruin. We do expose ourselves to attack a bit if we get attacked today, but I think it is worth the risk.

And with the prisoner, I think we should keep him along. I doubt he'd make it back, and if he did there is the entire 'Do this mission or die' thing that the Templar's probably are enforcing to the letter. I would like to know how close he is to his comrades, to see the chances of them showing up at night to find him.

Reynard looked over the remains of the combatants on the field. None of his group had been killed. A couple of the elves were, a couple fled, and every undead abomination was now lying on the ground. as he did so, he passed by Crowe, and murmured to him, "Good job," before continuing. Stopping once mid-examination, he prodded one of the fallen zombies with his boot. Hopefully, they didn't have to fight through too many more of the explosive ones. Otherwise, it would be a long mission for him. He turned to the other's.

"I say we loot the bodies, then set everything ablaze. No point risking to see if they are reanimated somehow. Anyone who needs healing can come see me as needed. I say we spend as little time here as possible. We have a mission to complete."

Reynard glanced towards where the elves had fled to. Recalling the Templars forcing this mission on pain of death, he wondered if they would even survive if they got back? Not that they would survive any of the wild beasts if they found any, of course. Ahead of them lied the desecrated lands, and some tracks already heading into them. As cruel as it was, Reynard partly hoped that the other groups would open a path nicely, then conveniently be killed right before the completed the objective. Maybe only the bad ones get killed and then they banded with the good ones? Smirking is his helmet, Reynard noted what insanely good fates would have to befall them for that to occur.

(OOC: Reynard wants to loot then burn the bodies, then continue on his way. He will use his heal skill as needed, but is reluctant to use his lay on hands yet.)

As they had been for a majority of the fight, Crowe and Reynard double teamed one of the zombies. Crowe thrust his rapier directly into the chest of the zombie, and Reynard finished it off with a wide swing to the head. Smirking beneath his helmet, Reynard looked around for another opponent. He noticed that, similar to the other zombie, this zombie began to inflate. Without thinking, he pushed himself infront of the party, and did his best to cover them with his shield.

The substance that burst from the zombie's body coated him much more severely than the previous one's had. Coughing as the noxious gas burned his throat and the corrosive fluids' his armour and skin, Reynard did his best to rub it off of himself. There was only 1 more zombie nearby.

Morrigu's spells terrified the elves, and the 2 ones left standing began to flee. As the retreated, Reynard called after them 'The 2 of you alone probably won't last long, whether it be because of more zombies or the Templar's. Stay with me, and I will protect you!" Whether or not they did made no difference to Reynard's action. He stepped up to Z3 (assuming it is still alive) and engaged it with his warhammer. If Crowe stepped up as well, Reynard would continue to shield him.

(OOC:If Z3 is still standing, Reynard will engage it. If not, he will move towards Z5 if it is still moving towards Morrigu. He tries to persuade the elves that are retreating to stay with them, but makes no effort to go after them.)

The elves are not an overly big concern to me. I doubt that they will actually survive on their own once they have fled from the group. Our group seemed much more capable of dealing with the zombies than all of them. I would have liked to have gotten them on our side, at least for a little while, and add a bit of firepower, but I don't believe we should go out of our way to get them.

Subject: All too easy...

The zombies were robust, Reynard would give them that. However, they were not skillful opponents. Reynard's raw power allowed him to score hits on them that more nimble, or competent, opponents would have blocked. Reynard joined with Crow in yet another joint attack against one of the sprinters. Those ones seemed the most dangerous. If it came to it, they could just walk away from the other ones and throw things at them. At least, until enough of them came to surround them that there was no escape.

Suddenly, a terrible shrieking came from the hillside where Trossach and Morrigu still stood. Reynard looked up expecting some sort of hideous monster, but it was just Morrigu. 'Just Morrigu'? That was hardly a thought befitting someone blasting fire down on the zombies. Someone who was willing enough to show magic had to be somewhat capable with it. But how much?

Not thinking about it, or his own limited powers, anymore, Reynard stepped forward beside Klik. Holding a zombie back with his shield, he gave it a solid blow with his hammer. As the elves withdrew to a safe firing distance. Klik seemed to be doing okay, dodging and protecting himself with his shields, so Reynard attacked whatever zombies were still near him and used his shield to protect Crowe to the best of his ability. Crowe had initiated this fight, and Reynard was determined he would get out.

Fighting beside Crowe, Reynard hit another blow on the sprinter. Though it had not fallen, it was on its deathbed. Additionally, it had only got a grazing blow on the elf it wanted to fight. Apparently, it really wanted to attack the elves? No matter, the elf was surviving. After they dealt with the sprinters, Reynard was confident the tougher melee combatants could form a wall to hold the undead long enough for the archers to take them out.

Ochit moved up to Klik, Ochit, and Reynard. Klik informed them of his plan to aid the fallen elf. "Shall we tend to the other swift one while the Doc handles his work?" Giving one last shot to finish off the sprinter they were currently fighting, Reynard responded "My shield is beside you, friend. Let's go!" Unless circumstances prevented it, Reynard would keep beside Crowe and cover him with his shield. It seemed that Ochit would be covering Klik, so the plan should work...

Joining up beside Crowe, the 2 of them quickly dispatched one of the zombies. Even in destruction, it still was a threat; it exploded, covering Reynard and Crowe in a blast of acid. Using his shield, Reynard was able to cover himself and Crowe partially, reducing the damage somewhat. He probably would have to invest in a new shield when they returned however. Reynard grimaced as he quickly wiped some of the corrosive liquids off of him.

Crowe kept moving, trying to intercept the zombies charging the elves. It was a good idea. The elves all seemed to be skirmishers, and were quickly overwhelmed in melee. Even if the running ones were not particularly capable in melee, they could stall for the slower ones. As Crowe raced towards them, Reynard kept pace. Unlike last time, he would try to get to the other running one; although, he would still stay next to Crowe to cover him with his shield. As he and Crowe moved forward, Reynard loudly stated, " Sir Crowe, you still have my shield you can count on!"

As they began to move forward, Reynard observed Doctor Klik moving up into the fray as well. Hopefully, Klik would be able to fend for himself for a moment. Reynard had more faith in his safety then the elves. After all, he was Thri-Kreen, and they were tough warriors in their own right.

Subject: CHARGE!

Reynard voiced his opinion. Watching the one elf go down infuriated him. Instead of aiding those who could be of benefit to then, they instead sat back and did nothing. These zombies had to be dealt with. Even if they themselves did avoid them, that didn't mean this group wouldn't attack others, possibly even civilians someplace.

Crowe suddenly charged in. At the moment, it seemed like just him. Watching his companion move in, Reynard drew his hammer and followed him. As he closed the distance (since he can't get there in one round) Reynard gave a quick blow on his horn and bellowed, "REINFORCEMENTS ARE HERE!" Reynard assumed that the other elves would not engage in melee, so he followed Crowe, and engages the same target as him. With his shield, Reynard was confident he would be some aid to his less protected companion.

(OOC: Reynard attacks the same target as Crowe, and uses his bonus action to impose disadvantage on a attack on Crowe.)

Sun. Armour. Not a good combo. Especially with the desert heat. Reynard rubbed his forehead once again with a cloth. The bone armour did not vent well in the least, and he could practically feel the heat being absorbed. Rolling his shoulders in an attempt to remain somewhat comfortable, he trudged on. He wasn't going to be the next victim for the Templars.

He eyed his team as the progressed. He had yet to decide whether these people would remain constant travel companions for him. He had began to like Klik, which was weird. He never thought that he would ever enjoy the company of a Thri-Kreen. Or not be attacked and devoured by one while travelling. Additionally, he had never heard of a Thri-Kreen being as tactful as Klik either.

Projecting his mind to those gathered he spoke
"Rest easy, I will keep watch as a shepherd does their flock. I need not sleep as you do, and will take the time to prepare for the morrow, and perhaps annotate our travels."
Given their pre-adventure apt for conflict, Klik figured these early hours of the evening may be his only quiet time to reflect in the days ahead, and he had no qualms with dutifully putting the wasteful 'sleep' other creatures needed to more productive uses.

"I was going to offer my services to keep watch, but since you don't need to sleep that would be for the best. Reynard stared into the fire, contemplating times past. He knew that the future would be better. Better than the so called 'guard' occupation he once had.

Though the fire helped a bit, the night was frigid. Reynard curled up to the best of his ability in his bedroll, trying to keep his head warm. Suddenly, sweating in the day seemed much better than this.

They travelled 2 more days, and it was the same. Little conversation was made. This frustrated Reynard slightly. It was hard to gauge everyone as they didn't say or do anything. Except for Morrigu. Reynard filed a mental note to not annoy her. Perhaps make some attempt to get on her good side? Or, would that just be making himself a target? Reynard found himself moving closer to Doc Klik. "If I may inquire sir, you, ah, said you were trained by the Templars. How did you find yourself in their services?" Reynard asked him as the progressed on the second day.

(OOC: Will backpost more as needed)

They slowly moved up near the battle there were 8 armoured figures on one side, and 4 elven adventurers on another. Did they take casualties? Or were they simply confident that the 4 of them could handle this? The armoured figures moved in in awkward, jerky way.

Ochit heard the sounds of battle and moved with the others to investigate. Soon they saw a group of elves, the ones from the village, fighting some strange looking individuals. "Much sticks in. Not die. How keep fight?" Ochit pointed towards the group of eight. "Go fast. Follow no when fight. Find first."

Reynard turned to the party. "Leave them? I suggest we engage whomever they are fighting. Those elven adventurers may be our competition yes, but who knows if they are trying to help another. Perhaps they have families? I am in favour of an attack. We could stand to learn about one another's capabilities anyways."

Reynard waited for the response of the other's.
