Topic: Where have all the good fans gone?
Subject: Where have all the good fans gone?

Well actually this isn't really quite d and d fan related but I figured such fans might be able to relate to a short lament/rant. I'm quite boring these days but I used to be able to stay awake late enough to go to shows. Every once in a while I'll search around for what might be going on these days. It was never exactly my whole life or anything of course but I wonder now and then. It's just seeming too much like any internet presence of various groups and companies are slowly but surely dying away. Some just haven't been updated in years but I was practically in tears when I found a once well known message board where I found friends (and have memories from)filled with nothing but spam! It's like a spammers message board now! As I said and really I'm fortunate it's not my whole life or anything...it was a while ago... but I just keep thinking how could this have happened!?

I understand I am probably kind of late on the scene here but it seems like a nice community and I hope you wont ever let it fade away like that! Especially if you've ever made real life aqaintences from it. At least keep a redirect open somewhere so the curious know what's become of you!

I have probably been thinking too much about this and need to get to bed there seem to be a few survivors that have moved on to Twitter.
It just seems such a wretched fate...

Subject: Well that picked up finally...

Sorry I havent gotten around to this,I had actually thought there was a lack of interest and came back to check one last time. I may not be around a lot of the time but can try to check on this once a week.

I'll get together an idea in case you still included me in your count/if there's still room in the game. Thinking half- elf....I know that much...

Edit: would you allow a specialized Mage as in a certain school of magic?

I'm thinking of a summoner/conjurer sort that could call on useful creatures/have a familiar and such. Would that be okay?

Subject: Cool!

I am thinking about this for real...I'm not sure how much time I have but maybe I could post once or twice a week. It would also be my first time in an online game.

Especially if you can help me out with the character sheet...I'm currently unable to get my hands on one. I can come up with some ideas certainly. Also, while it isn't mine( I'm not that cool if that old)I have access to a original advanced players book plus also the older brown cover books so I can look up some info there.

Two questions... by weapon do you mean a specific one or just generally what kind? Would you mind if I looked up a specific one?

It would be quite helpful to me as my issue is currently being able to get ahold of a proper sheet(no books currently, having downloading issues).

I was tempted...but don't think I could handle this one. Let me know if you ever need a sub for a less cranky mage or otherwise subtler characters.

I must say,I am much amused by this half Orc...at the same ew...but amused nonetheless. Kinda of just skimming to see how it goes but that's what's stuck out to me the most so far.

You wake up extra refreshed and willing to take on anything the mob at work wants to throw at you. That crusty eyed guy that has it out for you just can't seem to keep you down! Christmas however...that may be another matter...just how ready are you?

I roll to be more diligent in my desire to type up various writings I have scattered about.

Here's a link to a gameplay video...it's out later today if you're not a mac user. Otherwise it's delayed...again...hopefully no more than a week because of a game crashing bug.

Subject: That sums up what I was thinking pretty well...

So these games do require word processing,at least for particular people like me. I'm pretty finicky about writing so I don't think I could sum it up all in one draft. I would have to save and come back to it and then post.

Plausible for me but maybe not until I'm actually industrious enough to get my poems together. Then there's that library trip...since I presume like in person games your are responsible for your own sheets.
I guess I would email a PDF copy that is filled out?

Then you roll and new posts are made as needed.
Is that about right? I will keep an eye on your game to see more.

I just got confused when you said you write the actions,I have roleplayed with a few different groups but never forum style. Chatty MUDs kinda but really only dabbled in that which isn't really the same.

Subject: I decided I'm going to wait on this one...

Firstly, but possibly solvable through the handy library...my main old has finally had all it could take and refuses to work. I have only access to mobile devices right now so no downloading sheets:-/

Plus I don't know of I'll be able to hop on for more than a few minutes with holiday plans. But still curious enough to have newb questions...

So I see the q&a posts but I also see there are multiple posters in the story parts. How does it work exactly? I can certainly write if need be,but being very particular with my writing I am a little nervous about it.

Yes...enhanced edition...supposedly has new characters and stuff.

Did you look at Baldursgate.com? It has all the new info and a forum section of details. Either way I've never known anything about mods so it'll be good for me. Sad I never got my hands on the original discs.

It's kinda fifty/fifty you really want to get that character done but there are so many intriguing distractions on the weekends...you achieve a bit of both and perhaps more...

I roll with emphasis and determination to get off the evil merchants VIP list.

I saw a post mentioning a bunch of apps which didn't mention this which is coming out at the end of the month. They were mostly utilitarian in nature so ....I wanted to know if it was yet unheard of...or maybe automated versions of d and d aren't as loved? It is actually a slightly improved(but mostly the same supposedly) a port of an old pc game based on the THACO system. All kinds of gaming types are super excited about it. It's multi platform, you can get it on new pcs as well as portable devices! I never played the old one but I am excited to try it!

I am rather enjoying the the skill check game. Despite my recent dramatic failure,I should have known better...sighs...

It's the fun of d and d without taking things too seriously. I had the fortune of being at a game convention where the Dragonlance books guy was there. He is all for a less serious approach and runs a fast premadeish with members of the audience. I got in on it but sadly failed under pressure. Which is okay, his big thing in a talk given before was to not get so attached to characters,in his game they will die. I think the game is really intended to be more of an elaborate and amusing object lesson.

Also, some secrets about getting through those mysterious dungeons the gm has built to seemingly just to vex you. I haven't tried his trick and don't know if it would really work but it's an equally amusing story. Anyways my point is...join the skill check game!

A run of the flu prompts your employer to ask you to do the work of three people! Unfortunately,a very viral person passes you by as you head into work. You will barely have caught up with your work before you are confined to your computer and time wasting...

I roll to Barter with local merchants for order. I appreciate all my end o year Holidays but could they please stop selling items for all three at once...
too early.

*wipes face*

Thanks all for the greetings. So a couple questions I couldn't find an answer to,sorry if they are someplace and I was lazy.

Well maybe three, but that one is pretty simple. So easy answers first, how about an ordinary root beer or hot chocolate? Though I'm sure your famous brews are well crafted I prefer the sweet stuff.

By the by is there a common time people chat? I always see the number says zero people are there.

How exactly do the forum games I've seen work should I find the time? I am not always a rules lawyer about this sort of thing but the way I see it dice rolling must be an honor system or something. At least on the player side, unless the gm just handles everything and you usually go by what gm tell you which is reasonable.

You almost failed but since you did your dice rituals this morning it wobbled away from disastrous results.

You pass but with stipulation that you must do all dishes following dinner including the kinda gross one you hate to wash.

Intellect Check for my new Bring Back Thread Spell. Does that count?

I was remembering my old days(which are admittedly perhaps not that old)of playing around with MUDs and wanted to see if there were anyplaces around where I can at least still chat. Most MUDs that still are live these days require some kind of download I can't get here.

I might be interested in games but not sure what kind of schedule I am going to be able to keep. Mostly lurking for now...
