Subject: What-

Riggs was running down the hall after Gyro, who'd had a significant head-start on him, then caught up with the other when he had slowed to a jog in front of the dormitories. He could hear blaster fire in the distance, and silently cursed his disgust with the now very-much desired inactivity of barely half and hour ago. Suddenly, the lights went out, and Riggs couldn't see his hand in front of his face. Only seconds later, a red light came on and washed the area in a dim, eerie red gloom.

"Well..." he said softly, trying to calm his nerves. "at least we know that the emergency lights work."

As Gyro opened the door to their dorm, Riggs readied his pistol for combat, preparing to face a hidden, imminent threat behind the closed door. Upon peering in, he saw nothing; and since it was empty, it was probably safe to go in. He strode toward the end of the room near his bed and took his tool kit and a power pack, then informed Gyro:

"I'm going to the security room and checking on the long coms. If they are working, I'll notify the Republic about this anomaly; if not, then I'm in there fixing them." He turned and left the room.

A bead of sweat trickled down Riggs' neck as he listened to the calamity at Epsilon over the console. Taken off-guard, he turned to his teammates: Gyro was going to run to the dormitory and grab weapons and supplies. Batter had drawn his knife and looked ready for direct combat. Then, he heard Hodges' voice:
"We need to get someone on the line. The Republic needs to know. Are out long-range comms still working?"

Riggs responded to this: "I don't know, but I can go check. I can swing by the dormitory and grab my tools. If they work, I can radio the republic- if they don't, well, that's why I'm a mechanic." He paused for a second, then added: "Are you coming with us, Hodges? You and Batter? I'm just thinking we should stick together- anyhow, I'm going down." With that, he turned and ran out the door.

The smile on Riggs' face suddenly turned to an expression of shock mixed with intrigue. As the hiss of static settled into the background, Gyro took the intercom function at the console he was sitting at and called the troopers at the other outposts. They had to respond.

The mechanic put on his helmet, previously lying on a table, and grabbed his blaster pistol. It was loaded and ready for action; now, so was he. Turning to Gyro for further orders, Riggs glanced expectantly at the door.

((OOC- Edit: I'd forgotten nobody has their supplies with them. Riggs didn't just grab his tool kit- it's back in the dormitory. My bad.))

Out of the corner of his distracted consciousness, Riggs could hear Gyro saying openly, "So guys, anyone interested in the music station? We could always vote in a song." There was a pause, and he added: "Being we are soooo important, they will have to play our song."

The clone mechanic snorted and turned to face the speaker. "I guess I could go for some music; sure beats listening to each other breathing all day. What do you think is on, besides the anthem?" That was all the Republic military would play; naturally, Riggs knew it inside and out.

Although he was standing only a few feet away from all the interrogation, Linopas was startled nevertheless by the sound of four blaster shots fired behind him. He turned and was met with the site of a very dead tapien soldier with four smoking holes in its gut, while Sellikus stood above it with his pistol drawn.

This didn't faze him too profoundly, however; a light hangover was beginning to settle in, and he clutched his head, speaking in his group's general direction.

"Hey... who was that guy earlier- Durkin, Deer-kan, whatever it was?" He took another glance around the area, cursing the drink from before. "Can't see anyone around the area, by the way..."

The post I put up for Riggs wasn't intended to write off any of your characters' personalities, by the way- I was just stating Riggs' perceptions of them in his own eyes. Just to make sure, in case I was wrong!

Topic: Star Wars: A Clone's Duty
Subject: The Bored Mechanic

"They're always telling us how important the base is. Important, my foot!" The clone mechanic would say to himself as he paced around the perimeter of the dorm. "Why can't we get some real action?"

Riggs had always heard about the battles going on outside in space and on far-off worlds as a young boy in Kamino's vast training facilities. He would hear of the tales of woe and bravery told by adventurous clones; of pilots, soldiers, ships, and Jedi. These stories always seemed to stick with him; but it wasn't the battle which piqued his fancy. No, it was the action behind the scenes, carried out by spies, tactical commanders, and engineers. A very mechanically-inclined clone, Riggs was a techie. He aspired to become an engineer of the highest calibre one day...

...one day far from here. Now, he was bored out of his mind, trapped on some forgotten (yet terribly important) outpost on a rock out in space, where everything was working perfectly and there was nothing to tinker around with. He would take apart his comlink and gun, along with various other oddities, and put them back together just to remind himself what he was doing sometimes. Other times he would stir up conversation; but often he would just sulk around.

At the back of his dusty brain, he faintly heard the voice of Gyro, one of his comrades on the asteroid; usually he would be happy to engage in conversation. Riggs liked Gyro, and viewed him as a friend- though making friends was easy for him. As long as the other party wanted to talk, that was all it took; trust was rarely an issue, and he wasn't terribly prudent. This view was not shared as well with the other guy, the one called Hodges. He liked Hodges enough, but the scout never seemed willing to talk. Perhaps, however, he was just as bored as everyone else, and was never in the mood. Now, however, he paid little notice. Gyro's words seemed to lack the stimulus he desired today. Perhaps the draining apathy was sinking in too deep.

Vanadia, your review also helped me a lot; it sounds like J.J. Abrams is kind of getting the hang of Star Trek and its reboots. I'd be interested in seeing Quinto's improvement on Spock as well, as I was rather disappointed with him in the last one... but I am rather critical. Thank you so much!

I must say that I was a mite let down by the 2009 reboot of the original Star Trek series. Something about it just didn't work for me; the characters just didn't seem... real. I'm a big fan of the original 1960s series; perhaps I'm just a oldie.
However, I'm quite willing to give Into Darkness a try. I'm not letting my interest die quite yet. What kind of features did it have over the last?

Subject: Where is she...

Upon hearing this knowledge, the panting Pardoner examined the room around him. It was well-lit and certainly well-attended; certainly a different public to the impoverished he'd seen on the streets just yesterday. At the far end of the room, an isolated table near the fire and the bar was occupied by two inconspicuous figures: one wore a cloak over its head, the other was remarkably skinny, and held a sword at rest upon the table's edge. Perhaps these two were who he was looking for.

"That must be them; thank you my good man." Amastus stood up from the bar stool and inhaled deeply. He had no problem approaching strangers, and his charisma enabled this; but something felt different. If he was to be this lady's escort, companion, or something else similar, he had to do all the right things. He had no way of predicting how she- if the cloaked one was her- or her consort would react.

With that, he strode to the table and, in the clearest voice he could muster, introduced himself:
"My name is Pardoner Amastus, a cleric of the Silver Qlergy to the west. I was informed by letter from an anonymous harbinger of information that I am to speak with you." He withdrew the open letter from his robes.

If you're mentioning me as the new character, Salvator, I'm actually a melee soldier. I like the idea of a heavy weapons gunner as well because he'd back us up in the really tough spots; I know we've got a lot of scout/soldier or scoundrel/soldier classes who seem to carry lighter weapons, and I'm carrying a power hammer; then again, you can't beat a sniper's range or efficiency... I guess I'm pretty much good with both.

Many apologies for contributing to this dry spell here on the Inn. Real life has been throwing a bunch of stuff in my direction which seems to be quite willing to eat up as much of my spare time as it can, which grieves my circuits so! But I miss you guys, and I still desire to uphold my usual frequenting here very much.

I'm just so tired of school all over- anyhow, that's pretty much that... I hope to see you again as often as I do soon and have those good times again.

That's all, folks!

Subject: I'm her what??

"Wha- no, not her husband... just need to see her-" The Pardoner paused to take another breath. "Guess I should go get her- thank you, sir!" And with that he turned on his heel and ran out the door.

Amastus cursed his pathetic stamina as he puffed down the cobblestone streets, nearly tripping more than once as he went. His fatigue grew so that he had to stop and ask a rather dingy civilian about the Tavern's location. Almost forty minutes after he left the motel, the cleric dragged his wretched bones back into the tavern and asked the barkeep about the presence of a young lady with a pale, scrawny consort.

Somewhere at the back of his mind as he rested upon the bar-shelf, he realized that he hadn't given the motel keeper any reason to deny that he was not the lady's fiancée.
