Now that Finn has posted and given me something special, I'll see if I can't get a post together tonight. But it is late and I've had a couple drinks, so I might wait till tomorrow evening for my post. We shall see!

Some very nice posting there. With that additional stuff for me to respond to and with still waiting on Finn's post, I won't be able to reply myself till tomorrow, probably not till the evening.

Well I'm home now; damn 50 min commute. I hate you Eol!

Ok, I'll start work on my reply but I'm planning to wait for Finn to post before I reply to both of you.

You know, I don't really hate you Eol, it's just envy that makes me say that. I waste almost 2 hrs of each day in traffic. That is what I hate. In my job it would be impossible to do at home.

Anyway, anxious to see Finn's post.

Nope, this is not Tatianna; she is much taller and the ears a little more pointed. She would be a little more affable, unless you happened to be a Mith'ganni.

But post whatever you like, the halfling will respond. Speaking of which, I can't post in the game till I get off work, I don't have the luxury of being able to play games at work. :p @ Eol.

You did, and you were right, but that doesn't mean TBN halfling knows that.

Yeah I don't believe she is really hurt by any comments, more of a show to maybe get a response that will de-escalate the situation, which I'll point out was Not started by her.

So I'll leave my post as stands, and see how things play out. She is interested in what she is hearing and might in interested in joining.

Topic: The Bleeding Lute - Come on in and Play!
Subject: Introductions.. not so fast!

"He can talk," the little rogue tittered, her laughter interrupting and punctuating her words, "but apparently, he needs work on how, ta eat and drink. Ya need to work on that, Sir Elf."

Had the situation been slightly different, Talca, too, might have joined the little woman in her enjoyment of Finn's plight. Given the druid's dour demeanor leading up to the incident, though, the elf shot the Halfling a warning glance, "Please, aier;" he implored softly with a slow shake of his head.

The Female Halfling's giggling slowed then stopped when she saw the imploring look in the Elf's eyes. She sighed and then nodded to him, but said nothing other then to bow her head and show him a gaze that tried to show her own sadness at allowing this to get this far that his friend was embarrassing himself. She turned away and back to her wine, which the bartender had just refilled once again. She remained silent, but her sharp little ears could not help but overhear most of what was being said by the two men next to her at the bar.

"Perhaps, it would be a good idea if,,you came along with me, to watch each other's backs,"

"Perhaps so, it's certainly not the worst idea you've ever had."

Perhaps, too, we should rethink the bit about leaving after you've eaten. It seems, my friend, that you could stand a rest before the road. I, myself, could use at least one more drink and, maybe, a few hours to tend to other concerns, see to some provisioning aside from all of the Lute's cheese and the like?... Daybreak is a better time to set off on the path you're planning, anyway, mellon,"

"Patience," the elf says with a wink and a smile, "The secret of all good bear tamers."

She turned her head to look at him and gave him a smile in return before returning quietly to her drink.

"Better a bear than a rutting tom-cat,..." the bear said.

The Halfling decided that she had enough of this verbal barbs and decided to ignore the bear and instead just sat looking down into her drink as if she hadn't heard the jab at her yet again. She wondered what was the bear's problem; he seemed to like to pick on people smaller than himself. This seemed like a fault in his character and perhaps a sign of his compensating for his own shortcoming; whatever they might be.

"Rrrrooowrrr," the elf purrs.

"Well, if'n you're coming you'd best know what's been goings on,"

"This is no natural blight,"

"Nine months back the harvest came and with it a below average yield. Plenty to go around, but not to much to put back," the druid continued, a faint shrug of the shoulders offered as punctuation, "Fine. There's always next year."

"The Winter came and it was bitter cold, It happens. Winter's always cold, but this one seemed to hold it's grip longer than most - and got into your bones till you thought they'd crack from the chill."

"Now Spring's finally come, with little rain ,and yet, the sky overhead is gray and a mist hangs in the air, making things feels slimy and damp to touch but never actually a good, ground penetrating soak,"

"It's brought with it a slimy fungus that's covering the fields. The turf is brown from it and it's now well into planting time, The buds on the maple, the oak, and ash are dark and won't open ,Then, Johann's chickens wouldn't lay, and then three of them died from getting bound up. The eggs they pulled out of um, the yolks were black with ichor ,Every calf, piglet, foal, pup, and lamb ‘as come out stillborn or feeble, There's no bugs, except flies. Great swarms of um that I'm sure you've seen."

"The water in the Lynn is low, low and slow, and dark, like something's blocking her upstream. All this didn't happen at once, either, Everything that's happened has occurred days apart, first at one end of Lynnbrooke and slowly working it's way to the other. Runi, the healer, reckons it started in the northeast and has spread southwest, like we was caught in some dark, unseen tide ,I just came from her study, upstairs, she scryed it out, somewhere to the north, in the upcountry she reckons we can find the source. But what it is, or how bad it is? Won't know for sure till I find a piece of it and get it back here to study."

"Whatever it is, it's mighty dark, and any who go trekking near it might get the taint," t"or be consumed by it." Finn tamps his pipe and adds another plug of tobacco before turning to lean his back against the bar. "So, y'know, that's exciting,"

"Hm," the elf says, "Exciting, indeed,"

His cinnamon-hued eyes break from their contemplation of his drink, then, and lift to catch Sara's gaze before she wanders away. "Leave the bottle, please," he requests.

The flighty barmaid blinks at him a few times but, when he produces another silver and slides it across the bar, she smiles, nods, and, in one graceful motion deposits the bottle between Talca and Finn and scoops up the coin before offering a quick curtsey and scampering off.

"If it's to be as exciting as you and Runi say, mellonamin, then I'd reiterate my earlier suggestion and strongly recommend not rushing off once we've finished our pipes, Let us take the time to, at least, plot our initial tack, gather decent supplies and provisions and, perhaps, another willing soul or two, eh? Better to head into the hells with a bit of water than none, after all,"

The pathfinder takes another draw from his pipe and a pull from his mug as Finn ruminates over that reiterated recommendation. As he does, his gaze falls once more on the Halfling a few seats away, "Excuse me, aier," he calls, offering an affable grin as the woman turns her questioning gaze in his direction, "I don't recognize you as being from around these parts and, if you are, my apologies, miss, but I can't recall your name. Might I ask from where you've come to Lynnbrooke?"

The Female Halfling take a sip of her wine, then slowly turns to look at the Elf who had spoken. She had been listening of course; they didn't seem to be whispering so it wasn't really spying. She didn't smile this time as she turned back to her drink as she said, "What dus it matter? Yar friend will only find some way to throw it back at me as an insult. I am dun playing his game."

The female Halfling noticed the slight upturning of the Elf's lips as it looked like he so wanted to laugh, but restrained himself probably for his friend's sake. She raised an eyebrow when the 'bear' went on talking to the Elf and ignored her jab back at him. She smiled and gave a single nod; she admired his forbearance in letting the 'slight' go unanswered. She wondered though at his initial jab at her; if he was a strong man, she didn't think he would have made such a gesture. She shrugged and went back to her drink; who could tell with bears.

Ow-ow-ow-ow thas haut,..." the bear cries aloud after taking a spoon of his stew. She watches as he goes through a comic routine of trying to douse the apparent fire in his mouth, with first his own mug, but finding it empty.

"GUAS-DAMMET"

He then grabs at his Elf friend's mug, but only manages to tip it over and spill it all over the bar and himself. He lurches to his feet then, knocking his stool to the floor, and grabs his mug before stalking over to the barmaid who is holding a pitcher in her hand.

"May I please have some of that", he growls at her, she looks at him strangely before upending the pitcher over his mug, and seeing nothing flow from the empty pitcher.

The Halfling can't contain it any longer, and a giggle escapes her lips and then it becomes an outright laugh at the comical scene being played out in front of her. She turns to look at the Elf and says to him between chuckles, "He can talk... but apparently.. he needs work on how .. ta eat and drink. Ya need ta work on that.. Sir Elf."

Stardate 2365.02.11
USS Peregrine, Deck 4, CMO's Office- 1058

Doctor Louise Moore entered her office, she sat down but bounded back to her feet again. She hated the waiting and not knowing what was going on. She hit the intercom on her desk, "Chief Cook?"

=/= Cook here. =/=

"Chief," Louise said uncertainly, "I'm going to the bridge to ascertain what is going on out there."

The response was delayed a couple moments as the Chief was obviously thrown off by her statement.

=/= Aye, Doctor. We are ready for when we are needed. =/=

"I know you are Chief," Louise smiled, "Moore out." She closed the comm and exited her office before she could have a change of heart.

When she was the Assistant CMO aboard the USS Galileo, the CMO was often on the bridge during times of crisis, there to advise the Captain himself. She didn't think she had anything to advise the Captain of at the moment, but she had seen that relationship then and hoped she could develop that sort of work environment here aboard the USS Peregrine.

She stepped into the turbo lift and directed it to the bridge; her heart beating a thousand times a minute it seemed.

Stardate 2365.02.11
USS Peregrine, Deck 1, Main Bridge - 1102

The turbolift doors swished open and an apprehensive looking Dr. Moore stepped out onto the bridge and looked around. She stepped in and away from the door and tried to place herself where she wasn't in the way of any of the important people doing their duties in what was obviously a battle situation.

"Mister Berk," Captain Drake said, then, "assuming you have those firing solutions, you may fire at will."

Louise's eyes were drawn to the screen where she watched as two barrages of photon torpedoes streaked out from the ship towards some target that she strained her eyes to see, but couldn't.

She was hoping that she wasn't breaking some sort of Shipboard regulation about being on the bridge during combat, but she hadn't been informed of such when she came aboard, and she didn't recall reading anything regarding it either. She stood silently, making sure to move out of the way if anyone came her way as they moved from one station to another.

I'm having problems posting to the game. I put in my post and the subject line, but it comes back and tells me the Body can't be blank. It is blank when it comes back, but it has text in it when I hit submit. I'm now wondering if it is the whole Inn or just the EOD game. Guess I will find out.

Ok, finally got it to post, but the message body was blank. ~confusion sets in~

Anyone?

Ah, figured it out. My html coding for the Bolding in the first Location tag, had and extra < symbol in there after the Starting Bold coding. Note: that apparently makes the Inn unable to post that on the forum. A learning experience.

The post in EOD, is a little something I typed up last night but didn't get to post it then, so I looked it over, made a couple adjustments, and posted it, finally.

"You two Giants planning a trip?" piped up the halfling; her tone was interested and eager.

"Mind your own business, Peck", the shabby one barked while still looking at Elf.

The small woman's brown eyes flashed with what might have been anger, but only for an instant, and the dagger that had slipped from her sleeve, seemingly of it's own accord, slid back from whence it came. It happened so quickly that no one probably noticed it unless they had been looking directly at her during that particular moment.

The Elf briefly met the tiny woman's eyes, offered a vaguely apologetic shrug, and mouthed the words ‘I suppose not.'

He would see a small grin came to her lips before he turned back to his companion. A sparkle came to her eyes as she turned her head to the one that called her a Peck and a look of mock surprise came to her face.

"By the Gods.. it's speaks," she said in an astonishing tone, "Tell me Sir Elf, how did you teach your pet bear to speak? It's a true miracle!"

She chuckled and lifted her wine glass and took a sip; enjoying it much more now that she wasn't trying to down the whole glass in one gulp. Her gaze still rested on the two men sitting a couple stools down the bar.

Subject: Greetings

As the little woman waited for her drink, she turned her head to scan the room, and slowly observed the other patrons. Her inquiring eyes stopped on several different groups as she studied those that seemed to be other than simple farmers and townsfolk. When her drink came, whatever it was, she took a hardy swig as if she hadn't had any to drink for a while. She winced at the taste, then smirked slightly and took another smaller swig.

Talca had offered the little newcomer an affable smile and a nod of greeting when her eyes had passed his but, until she winced at the potency of the wine she'd just gulped, the pathfinder didn't give up much else. Taking note of that grimace, though, and the faint smirk and smaller swallow that followed, Talca chuckled softly; "That's a much better drinking pace, aier (little one). No sense in choking yourself to a stop on the first, aye?" He flicked the woman a playful wink, then, and regarded Finn once more,

"As I was saying," the elf circled back to the thoughts he'd had prior to the halfling's arrival, "If you're set on such a trip, Finn, I'd be happy to come along,"

Hearing someone speak she turned her head swiftly in that direction, her raven locks bouncing as she sought out the speaker. She saw the Elf she had spotted early who was seated nearby at the bar with another man who is rather shabbily dressed and has a rather wild looking appearance.

While not proficient with the Elvin language, she knew enough to recognize the 'slight' that the elf had used in referring to her. "little one", indeed. But what else was she to expect from elves. But then again, he had chuckled rather than sneered; it was said in an almost friendly matter rather than to be meant as demeaning. She would refer judgement until she knew more.

"Aye," she said as the elf turned back and said something to the shabby man, "best to consider me size when dealing with drinkin. I'm not a Giant like ye self, eh? " She offered up a sly grin to show she was returning the 'slight'. Her eyes took in the look of the two men near her; it was hard to discern anything of the shabby one, other than he appeared to like to roll around in dirt and such. Her eyes delved more on the tall elf; her gaze noticing his weapons, and other interesting facts. Locations of items, any pouches, valuable looking items, etc. that were visible.

As she looked at the elf, his last words to his companion finally sank in... "If you're set on such a trip, Finn, I'd be happy to come along,"

"You two Giants planning a trip?" she asked raising an eyebrow; her tone was interested and eager.

As the glass door opened, Máiréad walked past Tomiki and seemed to be in a daze as she took in all the lights and mirrors and clean surfaces. She had never seen one of the ancient Medbays in such near pristine condition; they were usually destroyed, ransacked and dark.

"Please state the nature of your medical emergency?"

The mechanical voice caused her to start, but she recovered quickly and held her staff ready as the bot descended towards them. She relaxed a little as she began to understand the purpose of the bot. She was used to bots trying to kill her, and not offer to heal her.

Máiréad looked about at the rest of the group here as she recalled that none of them had any injuries due to the healing they received during the last battle with the Catbots. She turned back to the bot and voiced a reply.

"We have no injuries... currently," she spoke softly, "please state the purpose of this facility? What is this place?"

She doubted it would respond to those questions, she expected it to be only purposed to deal with the sick or injured, but you never knew, they might get lucky.

Subject: Enter a Thief

The door to the Bleeding Lute suddenly burst inwards causing some of the patrons to jump and move a hand towards their weapons as they thought something might be attacking them. The doorway was obscured by a swirl of dust on the wind for a couple moments and then, as the dust settled, the patrons eyes dropped lower and lower until they fell upon the diminutive hooded figure standing in the doorway. It was no more than 3' high and not an inch more; it carried a short 4' staff bound on both ends with leather in intricate weaving. The figure took in the room with a glance and then, as it stepped inside, the door started to swing back shut and crashed into the figure knocking it to the floor.

The small person stood up, the jarring hit dislodging the hood from it's head to reveal a round face framed by black curls and dark brown eyes scanned the room and the Halfling woman smiled sheepishly as she grabbed the door and closed it tight before turning back to the room and approached the bar looking more towards the floor perhaps in embarrassment at having her entrance, which was supposed to be grand and menacing, spoiled by a simple door.

As she got to one of the few open bar stools, she slipped a drawstring haversack from her back and set it on the floor at her feet, then whipped off her hooded cloak and draped it over her sack. The hooded cloak gone, the rest of her outfit could be seen; her small lithe form was adorned in a set of light leather that looked half armor and half clothing. Many pockets, slits and other openings appeared in the clothing to allow for many places to store items. The outfit looked functional and comfortable, and yet this comfort might have been offset by the sheer number of small blades that seems to be attached to the armor on almost every appendage. Several long daggers rested on a belt at her waist, and other small blades from 3" to 9" in length were sheathed into scabbards that appeared woven into the garment. The small knives were attached to every arm and leg as well as all over the torso.

The Halfling woman sprung easily atop the tall bar stool and reaching into one of the many small openings in her clothing, she withdrew a silver piece and set it on the scarred bar counter. "Wine," she said in a small, yet strong sounding voice, "if you got any. If not, whatever is good."

As she waited for her drink, she turned her head to scan the room, and slowly observed the other patrons. Her inquiring eyes stopped on several different groups as she studied those that seemed to be other than simple farmers and townsfolk. When her drink came, whatever it was, she took a hardy swig as if she hadn't have any to drink for awhile. She winced at the taste, then smirked slightly and took another smaller swig.

(OOC: A simple intro. Any are welcome to interact, if they will. )
