Topic: Dragons in Movies
Subject: Dragons in Movies

There's something that, as a complete dragon geek, lover and aficionado, really annoys me about dragons in movies and television series: people calling their FOUR limbed beasts DRAGONS. There are many movies and television series guilty of it: Reign of Fire, Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon and Game of Thrones to name a few. Oh, and the television show, Merlin got the dragon correct but their wyverns wrong: they gave their wyverns six limbs, just like a dragon. Every fantasy fan worth their salt knows that a dragon has SIX limbs (four legs and two wings respectively), whereas a 'dragon' with only four limbs is a wyvern. It really is not difficult to learn: four limbs, wyvern. Six limbs, dragon. So why they constantly make this ridiculously stupid mistake I have no idea. In fact, there are only a few that actually make actual dragons: Dragonheart, Maleficent, Dragon Wars and Avatar: The Last Airbender (live action). This is why I respect those movies.

Yes, I know the wyvern is a subspecies of dragon, but you don't actually call a wyvern a dragon. The wyvern is a 'pseudo-dragon', if you will, a 'lesser dragon'. Yet the television shows and movies I mentioned above are treating their four limbed wyverns as fully fledged dragons. Take the Hungarian Horntail from the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie. This beast is the very description of a wyvern: birdlike appearance (she even has a beak-like snout), two legs, two wings and a barbed tail, and yet they insist on calling and treating her as a proper dragon. This is wrong. You wouldn't call a domesticated house cat a lion, or a domesticated house dog a wolf, so why call a wyvern a dragon?

This has just been something that has annoyed me for a very long time now.

Subject: Okay, me next!

Favourite tv show: More than one! Gotham, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supernatural. Favourite show while growing up: Teletubbies and Tweenies (yup, back when I was a wee little tot!).
Favourite book: Again, more than one! Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini (best fantasy series ever in my opinion), the Pegasus series by Kate O'Hearn, Dragonsdale by Salamanda Drake, Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney, Dork Diaries by Rachel Renée, How to Train Your Dragon series by Cressida Cowell, the Dragonology Chronicles by Dugald A. Steer (well, all the Dragonology books, to be honest).
Favourite sweet: Profiterolls, chocolate trifle, chocolate cake, chocolate pudding with chocolate custard.. Yup, I LOVE chocolate! (And now I'm making my mouth water lol!)
What do you hope to becom as an Innmate? A better roleplayer and even more of a geek!
Favourite motto: 'No matter how dark it gets, there will be light.'- Jim Gordon from the Gotham tv series. 'A man with nothing to lose cannot be bargained with'- Edward Nigma from the Gotham tv series. 'Waste not, want not!'- not from a tv series, but I like the saying. 'There's nothing more contagious than laughter!' Jerome Valeska from the Gotham tv series. And MANY more!
Most common class: I love roleplaying as a dragon, does that count? Also, I play as a mage sometimes, too.
Favourite time of day to post: Whenever, really.
Favourite dragon: Whoever came up with THIS question, I love ya! Dragons rule!!! So, my favourites are: Draco and Drago from the Dragonheart movies, Hungarian Horntail (yes, I know she's a wyvern!) from Harry Potter, Ukrainian Ironbelly (yes, wyvern) from Harry Potter), the dragon from the live action Maleficent, Rayquaza from Pokémon (yes, he's technically a lindworm), Charizard from Pokémon, Garchomp from Pokémon, Dragonite from Pokémon, Latias and Latios from Pokémon, Milotic from Pokémon (yes, I know it's not a Dragon-type, but it looks dragonish to me) oh, the dragon from the live action The Last Airbender movie and there could be more.
Married or single: Single
Favourite holiday place: Blackpool is awesome. Tokyo (though I've never been. Would LOVE to go, though!), America (like New York City or some other cool place in America. Again, never been but... *shrugs*)
Favourite vegetable: Carrots, cabbage, peas, broccoli.
favourite meat: I'm a total meat lover! Here are my favourites: pork, steak, bacon, venison (deer), rabbit, duck, pigeon breast, kangaroo, chicken (especially KFC chicken!), spare ribs, ANY barbecue meat, Mcdonalds McNuggets.
Favourite seafood: Lots of food questions, isn't there? Well, anyway: I love sushi! Also, prawns, any sort of fish (except sea bass- it has a weird creamy taste), crab from the shell, lobster.
Favourite beverage: Another food related question? Oh, well: any kind of chocolate drink WITHOUT coffee-yuk! Hate coffee!
Favourite hobby: Playing video games, drawing, listening to music, watching my favourite tv shows, surfing the 'net.
Greatest inspiration: I'm going to have to say Wonder Woman. She just insires me to be greater and to help others (and yes, I am talking about the DC character).
What do girls like guys giving them? I'd say love, trust and respect.
Idea of success: When I've been stuck on something for ages (like a level in a video game, for example) then I finally achieve it! Great feeling!
Current profession: None. :/
Favourite superhero: LOTS!!! I'm a superhero nerd! Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Gotham City Sirens (yes, they're anti-heroes, but still!)
My question: Tell everyone an embarrassing cringe-worthy moment that happened to you! >

Topic: Favourite Horror Movies?
Subject:

I like either torture horrors (where the victim gets tortured- yeah, I know, I'm sick!), or ones where you don't see the monster, or if you do it's only for a brief moment and not too clearly. I think that invisible monsters or monsters you don't see clearly are the most terrifying because what's more deadly and terrifying than a threat you can't see or see well? Plus, with invisible monsters in horrors, you don't know where they're going to strike next, giving the movie a good jump scare factor, and if you can't see the monster in the movie your brain is free to completely imagine what that monster might look like, which is both fun and cool in my opinion.

Topic: Favourite Horror Movies?
Subject: Favourite Horror Movies?

As it's close to Halloween, I thought I'd start a thread about what people's favourite horror movies are. Just curious. Well, that and I like discussing the subject in general!

So without further ado, here are mine (in no particular order):

Dead Silence
Nightmare on Elm Street (the remake)
Freddy v Jason (even though it had bad special effects for the time it was made- 2003! So bad, I actually thought it was a late 80s/early 90s movie until I Googled the year it was released!)
Paranormal activity 1 & 2 (3 & 4 were terrible, but 1 was, in my opinion, the most TERRIFYING horror I've watched!)
Paranormal Entity (not as scary as Paranormal Activity, but still pretty scary!)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Texas Chainsaw
Hostel (again, bad sequel. What is it with horror movies and having bad sequels/prequels?)
SAW (forgot the numbers of the ones I've seen, but love the ones I did see-except for the very first SAW movie. This is an uncommon (in my opinion) example of a movie series that actually gets better over time)
Jigsaw (great addition to the SAW franchise, but there was one point I was REALLY confused about. Won't say what it was, though. Don't want to give away any spoilers lol!)
Annabelle (Annabelle Creation was well written and I liked how they did the scene at the end of the movie which tied it in perfectly with Annabelle. Prefered Annabelle, though. More scary in my opinion)
Dark Ride (as you can probably guess by now, I love James Wan. Brilliant director, which is partly why I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming Aquaman movie he's directing)
The Tortured
And there's probably more.
Final Destination (again forgot which numbers lol. The 3d one with the car race at the start, the one with the bridge and the one with the roller coaster)

So what are yours?

I thought men could channel, too. Just that it could send them mad if they let the One Power control them?
Or do you mean that your character isn't a channeler?

Hmmm...

Not sure what other things there are if that makes sense. My channeller is a Wilder from Ardon and according to Giddy's nationality description, Wilders are hardworking people so I was thinking of making my character a person who likes to help her friends wherever possible. So a support and protector if that makes sense.

Thank you! I'm glad somebody else agrees with me about Jared Leto's Joker! You're right, that was NOT the Joker- more like a depressed clown with constipation. That's how I've always described him lol.

I LOVE the DC tv shows (except the Arrow- boring in my opinion). I watch Gotham, the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. And, confession: I have a HUGE crush on Cisco/Carlos Valdes! Leonard is cute, too! XD
I'm addicted to the DC shows I watch and are super passionate about them.

I love how this site actually encourages and rewards you for participating-EVERY site should do this! Plus, this site is very welcoming and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I actually spoke to t_cat11 earlier, the actual owner of the site. There aren't many sites where you can speak to the creator themself. That proves how, as I said, welcoming and helpful the members-and owner!- of this site is and I am very happy and pleased about this. It makes Newbies feel welcomed and encourages them to stay-well it does me, anyway-because they aren't being shunned because they're new.

Sorry, listen to me prattling on lol! XD
I know I'm definitely going to stay on this site for a long time to come!
