The Klingon Pirate Ship Qa'bortaS

"Scanners are still not cooperating Captain," said Pev from his console. "I do pick up some life signs out there, but I am unable to pinpoint if they are eminating from a ship, EVA, or other. Currently running a complete reboot of our systems, which will take approximately twenty three minutes."

Wor'Mog grunted, a sound the S'ti'ach had learned meant a grudging acceptance of the current situation. "How about transporters?"

"Still online."

Wor'Mog grinned. "Good. Since you've nothing better to do, you, your wife, and Mr. Bo will accompany me over to this station we're coming up on."

The lift doors opened with a hiss, and the ship's Intelligence specialist stepped onto the deck. "Reporting as ordered, sir."

Wor'Mog jerked a thumb over his shoulder. "I was just telling your husband here. Get ready. We're going hunting."

"For?"

"At a minimum, answers. At a maximum, blood."

Shaulin looked over at Pev, who winked with one of his huge black eyes. One corner of her mouth quirked up in a grin in spite of their current dire situation.

Precisely eight minutes later, Wor'Mog, Pev, Shaulin, and the giant simian Slirdarian Jarum Bo stood on transporter platforms. All but Pev carried bat'leths and disruptors; the S'ti'ach wore two d'k tahgs on a bandolier over his uniform and carried four Federation issue Type-1 phasers on his belt, a prize from a violent but lucrative encounter in the Qa'bortaS's past.

"Energize," commanded Captain Wor'Mog.

He's not kidding; the avatars for Wor'Mog, Jarum Bo, Pev, and Shaulin were all expertly done by Kinravip!

Also, the player for the TBD diplomatic ship has withdrawn, so until we have a replacement we'd better be polite, or at least capable of backing up our uncivil tones.

The Klingon Pirate Ship Qa'bortaS

"Sensors are picking up energy pulses," said Pev from the Ops console, his four arms dancing across the controls in an effort to fine-tune the readings. "Intermittant, seemingly firing at random. They are coming from the station array, eight hundred point four killicams starboard."

Wor'Mog stroked his beard. "Do we have enough power to get us over there, Mr. Pev?"

"Aye, sir. Impulse engines were undamaged in the..." he didn't want to use the word attack yet, since they didn't know where they were or what had happened, so instead said "incident."

"Bring us about, Mr. Ay'tog."

"Aye Cap'n," answered the helm officer with a nod. "At least we have the basics: impulse, life support..."

"Minimal shields, no photon torpedos, eighteen dead, another seven injured," said K'mtoq from his station.

"That'll do, Mr. K'mtoq," said Wor'Mog. "Take us to the station, Ay'Tog." The pirate captain rubbed his hands together. "Mr. Pev, scan for life signs, then confirm transporters are online, or redistribute enough power to make them so." The captain walked back to his command chair and opened a channel without sitting. "Shaulin, acknowledge."

The pause was brief before a female voice replied, "Shaulin here."

"Report to the bridge. I have a job for you."

Thanks both! Neither of your instructions were working for me, but I figured out what the issue was: for Imgur pics, you need to copy the BBCode data, then paste in the Insert Data/Image prompt and delete the [img] and [/img] bracket info. Works like a charm now.

Stardate 2379.12.22 (Federation reckoning)

The Pirate Ship Qa'bortaS

Bridge - 1722hrs

Captain Wor'mog admitted to being the son of no man. House Valkor, of which he was the sole surviving member, would not be mentioned whilst sober (though when drunk he would rail against the idiotic Empire who dared remove all traces of his once-proud lineage). He eschewed most forms of Klingon formalities, except in martial cases such as burying his d'k tahg into the gut of someone who deserved to die.

He looked around angrily for such a person now.

The B'rel-class Qa'bortaS had just finished disabling a Klingon shipping vessel, much to the disgrace of her captain and crew, and were preparing to board her and relieve her of her cargo. Everything was going according to plan. And then...and then...

And then, what? Wor'mog had no idea. A flash of light, a shower of sparks. Now one bridge console was on fire, the crewman who'd been manning it a lifeless but still smoldering corpse on the deck. The helm fought to stabilize the ship and stop her spinning. Wor'mog's own ears were ringing, drowing out all shouts and hails from the crew reporting in. Something was blocking the vision in his right eye; he wiped the palm of his hand across it angrily, then saw it was his own blood. He would need to do something about that at some point. But first, he needed to ensure his ship was still intact, and then decide who was going to pay.

The Delta Quadrant. A region of space unknown to Starfleet until the USS Voyager was transported there by the mysterious Caretaker in an attempt to find a compatible species he could reproduce with and thus continue to watch over the Ocampans whose world he and his fellow Nacenes had accidentally destroyed.

The Caretaker's partner, Suspiria, blamed the crew of the Voyager for the death of her mate, but was thwarted in her attempt to exact revenge. She disappeared, seemingly back to the subspace layer called Exosia.

But what of the other Nacene? Where had they travelled to, and what was their purpose?

In our game, a third Nacene, Innanna, has created her own array. Not content to merely pull ships in from four quadrants, hers has also taken ships out of time. And Innanna does not search for knowledge; she prepares for war.

The game begins in 2379, one year after Voyager's return from the Delta Quadrant.

In this game, rather than playing characters all serving aboard a single starship, each player will control an entire ship themselves, pulled from time and space and dropped into what can only be referred to as a starship graveyard. Everyone's ship is in need of some repair, but the corpses of ships litter the space where they've appeared. You'll write the crew. All the crew. Go nuts.

The ships will all combine to create a small fleet, with (one would assume) the intent of returning to wherever they've come from. Or maybe not, it's your ship! Each ship will be considered the best at something, be it ship-to-ship combat, flying, medical, engineering, communications, whatever niche you'd like your ship to fill. As each role is filled it will be noted on the Master Roster. That's not to say your medical ship can't have some top-notch kickboxers or your science vessal contain someone with amazing sniper skills, only that when it comes time tor a specific skill set to take the lead, the appropriate ship gets the spotlight.

This will be a freeform game set up with the same guidelines as Draconis Fleet, though we exist outside of their timeline. Please read and bookmark them for reference and we'll all get along famously.

CURRENT FLEET ROSTER AND SPECIALTIES:

The Qa'bortaS, a modified B'rel class Klingon Bird of Prey pirate ship specializing in ship-to-ship and close combat actions

The USS [Name Pending], a Starfleet Hornet-class fighter carrier specializing in flight and skirmishing

The USS Midway, a Starfleet Miranda-class light cruiser specializing in Engineering

The USS Rod of Asclepius, a Starfleet Olympic-class hospital ship specializing in Medical

The V'Nos, a Vulcan Confederacy D'Kyr-class ship specializing in Science

Feel free to PM me with any questions!

Subject: Thoughts on a Freeform Star Trek Game

I've had an idea for awhile now, and wanted to float it past the site, since I've been here for like two days now, so we're all good friends.

The idea is for a Star Trek game where, instead of playing a character aboard a ship, each player plays an entire ship's worth of characters. It would be a reboot of "Voyager," with the ships all appearing in a sort of starship graveyard, brought by the Caretaker Array. The ships band together to explore the Delta Quadrant and search for a way home (unless they're already from the Delta Quadrant, in which case, you decide what you're in it for). To maintain game balance, each ship would be the default "best" at something, whether it be science, engineering, communications, firepower, etc. It would be agreed OOC that this is the setup. If your Nausicaan pirate vessal is best at scavenging, then my Intrepid-class Starfleet ship is not, period.

The fleet would only be as fast as its slowest ship. If my NX-class can't move past Warp 5.2, then the fleet can't move past Warp 5.2. And you can't leave me behind, because my ship has the best bontanical garden, let's say, and the fleet needs that for food and medicinal herbs.

Thoughts? Ideas? Interest in playing if I were to start it up?

Subject: Hello!

Hi all! I discovered this site through an ad for a game on another website. There's a lot to see here!

I've been a roleplaying gamer since the original AD&D. I've played everything from Top Secret to Call of Cthulhu, Feng Shui to Star Trek (three versions!) to Star Wars (same!) to Deadlands. Rifts to octaNe.

I read RPG books like others read novels.

As I've gotten older, my gaming group has fragmented, moved, gotten married, passed away, or just stopped playing, and while some of us are able to gather online from time to time, more of my time is spent looking for good play-by-post games than actually playing in anything.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone, and hopefully contributing in a meaningful way to some stories!
