Topic: Peradyse Lost
Subject: Lorae

Lorae takes in the sights, noting certain aspects of nature, the trees especially the decidious ones, the bright green grass, the snowcapped mountains, and the full river.

"Midday, Mid-Spring," she states to no one in particular. "I would suggest that we find a campsite near the river, for we have been riding all day. I, for one, am hungry."

Subject: This Way

Lorae rides forward to Brianna's knee, "Let us ride Sister of my Heart," Lorae speaks the words that had, until this moment never been spoken on common to a human, for indeed, Brianna had become just that, a sister in the truest sense.

She presses Moon Dancer forward into the vortex. Her heart gladdens as Brianna moves with her.

"At 30 miles a day, that means there is at least 4 days of travel left to Tilverton." Lorae stashes the unselected items into her bag.

"So......we best get on the road."

Lorae turns to help clean up from breakfast when she notices Flame pouting on a tree limb while the others tack their mounts.

"Flame, I have a ring for you."

When she is finished she removes her buckler from her bag. Her hands lovingly caress the highly polished surface and fingered the carved border with the myriad of animals and trees in bas relief.

Taran. He had made it for her, a gift of protection and a reminder of his love. He had been willing to accept him—her however she was. Maybe that was what made accepting the change easier than she thought it might be. Though love between those of the same sex was not forbidden or even frowned upon by Elves, there was something more to the depth of what she had felt when they had last parted. It had seemed ages since that parting, and she had daily felt an emptiness within her, as if a piece of her was missing.

Lorae looks about as others move into positions. "Hold your fire until they hit the entangles" She then positions herself as bait for the trap.

"Logan, I will join you as soon as they are into the entangles."

Subject: To Your Places

"To your places," cries Lorae riding to where Vatta had gone and setting her first entangle.

Next she rode out to set another in a line from where she would be, in plain sight, and where the Orcs would be coming from. She set it out far enough that they would probably be in a full run by the time they got to the spot. Lorae planned to cast another entangle behind them so that they would have trouble trying to skirt the area, if they figured out just what is was that was causing the problem.

Next she rode up to Shadowbane, for a moment she stared deeply into his eyes, the communication was silent and ended with the great black nodding his head.

Lorae then takes out the glowing green crystal uses one of its powers to protect both Shadowbane and Dancer. When she returns to Cerric she does the same thing for Shanara and Char. Lastly she does the red mare and Draug.

"Cerric, it would be best to stay mounted and near the tree where Vatta has gone." Lorae turns to look that direction. I will put an entangle in front of her oposition. Stay on Shanara if you venture out into the glade. She can sense the magic of the entangle."

"Logan, I will make some mounted forays on the Orcs and Goblins, then I will join you as it get to hand to hand."

Lorae paused to think back on the fleeting glimpse of the encampment.

"About a dozen Orcs, and one big one," she pauses, "and about twice that number of Goblins."

"Given that they will have to track us by scent," Lorae went on to add while checking the direction of the wind, "then they should come out somewhere to the west of where we came in."

"There is one thing I can help with," says Lorae and her reaches int the bag of hold and come out holding a glittering mirthril chain shirt. "This was mine until I got new armor, As it is made of Mithril, it will not impede your spell casting."

Lorae moves her stallion closer to the Cerric's mare. "Here. Put it over your clothes for now, but later you can wear it underneath you clothes."

"Vatta I also have a chain shirt +1 if you need or can use it and there is a hand crossbow you might be interested in, the Drow we took it from had no more need of it."

"Now Brianna, has that Helm given you any ideas on how to tackle the problem." Seeing Brianna still lost in thought she turns back to Cerric.

"Bye the way you mare is named Shanara, It means Lady of the Light. She is Dancer's bonded mate."

As if to prove this Dancer and Lady nuzzle each other.

"As for my contributions to an ambush, I can set a few entangle spells that will funnel the Orcs and Goblins into the open ground of this glade." Archers could shoot from the trees to slow their advance and those with cavalry skill can make ride by attacks from the flanks."

"Logan," says Lorae leaping gracefully back up on Dancer, "is seems you have a knack for drawing the best of the enemy to you."

As Xuor speaks Lorae turns to listen.

"So we may have Goblins and Orcs together, nice group, can you say how far back it was you passed this group? Could you tell if they turned to follow your group? If they are headed this way we need to know how soon they will arrive and if not then what our next move should be?"

"About 2 miles back, They saw riders caught up is a field of Elven magic, and that they could warn of the impending attack, so what do you think? I did not see tham in the act of following because we passed them so quickly, but it will take them longer to get here than it did for us. I used magicsa to ease our passage throught the plants. Also slowing them will be the fact that we left no tracks."

"As to whether they are coming.... Brianna will you have Flame go back and check on the Orcs. Meantime I will prepare spells to aid us like entangle."

"Cerric. I would advise you not to use fire spells the summer grasses are not moist enough to keep the a fire from going out of control."

"Yes Eventide has been warned," Lorae said in a manner of an adult placating a child, "and then I rode to Ashbenford and alerted then. They gatherad a force which was only 10 miles from the Elven village when we left them."

"Now, this is Cerric," she points the the man now beside Logan, "He is a cleric and a magic user. The young female elf who guards us is Vatta though she has declared to guard Cerric first and foremost."

"Cerric you are working on Logan a fighter, then there Brianna a fighter and Highnar is the Dwarf and then there is Xuor a Elven ranger and finally Daug," she points to the wolf, "Xuor's companion."

"And now that is done, I am sorry to say we may had drawn trouble to us. As we rode here we passed a band of Goblins and Orcs preparing to move out. They may come after us."

Lorae hurries to Logan's side. "Healing first," she replies, "I don't want you dying for the answers."

Lorae spreads her hands over Logan's body and she looks upward, "Light, this warrior has need of your healing grace."

She hold her hand over him and almost immediately she feel the prescence of The Light as is courses through her and then flows into her arms and down to her hands before it transfers to Logan's body. The holy radiance moves to the site of each wound and then descipates. She follows this with 2 heal spells.

"Cerric, your skills will be needed."

"Brianne, remove the dressings, says Lorae standing so the Cerric could get to Logan. "The Light's healing stopped the bleeding."

Hearing this, Lorae knows her friends could be is great danger. But the line of the Cormyr Forest before her is formidable, not a place to be galloing horses, even the grasslands left before them was tricky and is was not a good idea to gallop willy-nilly through it, least a horse step into a burrow and break a leg.

Knowing this, yet needing to hurry, Lorae reaches into her pouch and draws out the green crystal which was left after her mother's disappearance. Holding it to the waning light of day she begins to pray.

At first the facets of the gem flashed out varied vibrant greens, verdant blue-greens and every so often a scintillating yellow-greens. The air about it began to glow green and form around it them until the three were enveloping otally in the glowing greenlight, The green light make what the view in any direction strangely tinted as if they looked through a a green glass bottle..

"I am Lora'el'ra'marwyn'isilliri, Paladin of The Light."

Her name is like a piece of melody that one wants to hear the end of. Then there was her pronouncement of being a Paladin of The Light. (OOC Knowldege check Religion 25 or better to know you have never heard of this deity.)

"I am sorry for your loss, this colt lost his mother from an attack of mutated owls, though they did not kill her she was sorely affected and chose to go off and die."

Elessarae saw the man's sudden inattention and she moves her right hand closer to the hilt of her sword. She extends her senses out to possible ferret out what it was that caught the man's attention. Were there others in the bushes? Was that why he ended up ingoring the sound or movement.

"A Lady of the Bladesinger's tower has recently taken up the quest to find the reasons for the mutated animals. If you wish to help, then take that carcass to the High Druid in Sillmarion, maybe he can find out from it if it is a disease or something else. But be careful, I took a dead demonic owl to the High Druid and a flock of them came to attack his tower. It might be that there is someone behind all this that does not want us to find the source of the mutations."

How the strange eyes turn to Vatta and seem to comtemplate her for a moment, or was it longer. It seems that those observant orbs take in non-descript clothes, so common among those who plied their trade in the shadows. They also seemed catch the telltale hints of hidden daggers, the grayish-greenish eyes lingered at Vatta's boots and lower sleeve

"Greetings, your weapons and skills could be of use." Lorae just nods to the girl, who looked not much older that Lorae looked. It was only rarely that Lorae's years of experience were revealed in her eyes.

"Sir Cleric, and young elf, if you have horses get them quickly, we move out soon."

While they were talking the armed Militia were piling into the wagons.

"I am a Priest of Oghma, and may be of great service to your cause. If Eventide is well endowed with healers, then I should remain here and do what I can, but the choice is yours my lady."

The elven woman turned in her saddle with the grace of a dancer. her chin dropped and her and eyes came down on Cerric. There was a quality to her gaze that when beyond seeing. Her strange hazel eyes shifted from grayish, to greenish and only the golden flecks in her eyes remained the same. Her eyes did not just see him, but Cerric was sure that she saw into him.

"Eventide is just a hamlet, lacking priests and healers." Her speech was like music, some of the words were not easily discernable, but Cerric got the gist of her message. "It is believed that they are the main target, because of the number of elves living there, though with the number of Orcs spotted, opportunistic war bands might try for Asbenford."

Two more sets of eyes came to bear on the priest. The first were the large violet eyes of the Moonhorse who seemed to be listening with full comprehension. The second set appeared from under the elf's goldish-white hair, they were gold and slitted like a cat's eyes, but in this case they were slitted like a Dragon's eyes for the creature pearing at his seemed to be a tiny fiery red dragon.

As Flame moved to the edge of Lorae's shoulder, Cerric could see that the dragonette's scales were like flattened rubies over golden underscales. Depending how the light hit them the dragonette's color changed for deep red to bright fiery redgold.

"Priest of...Oghama," Lorae speaks the god's name trying to duplicate, the sound of it. "your skills will be needed at Eventide."

"Gather what you need and be prepared to ride, others are waiting on the other side of the river."

"When we were last in Asbenford, I someone mentioned there was an Elven village at the edge of the foreat where the shoutcut to Shadowdale enters the forest."

Lorae looks to the others, "I can get to the Elven enclave unnoticed to warn them, and then go on the Asbenford to rouse some fighter."

"Highnar, I don't not mean to belittle your ax work, but a hundred orcs could overwhelm us. I would suggest watching them for now cut down any that lag behind or get seperated from the others. In the meantime I will ride fast to warn act a both places. It is quite possible that the Orcs may split and you may have to do the same you may have to do the same."

Lorae half draws her sword and pulls out a luminescent green gem that had been clasped in a dragon's claw that made the pommel of her sword hilt."

She turns to Logan. "Please put this somewhere safe, I can then find you wherever you go. I also suggest you team up with Xuor. I think Highnar and Brianna will make a strong team. Brianna, I would like to take Flame with we, as he can guide me back to you."

She then goes to Highnar's mount and takes the gelding nose and turns it to her, for a while they commune and when it seems Highnar is ready to mount Lorae leads the gelding over to where the Dwarf is, swings the reins over the gelding head and gives it a command, "Kneel."

With that the gelding dropped to his knees, putting the stirrup much closer to the ground.
