Topic: Tell a Tale of the Golden Age of the Inn Subject: mail
Hey guys,
So yeah, that email worked. I was surprised to get an email, out of the blue, but it did get me thinking about times gone by and the fun I had here over the years and years and years as a member. I´m still a believer in this site, though time´s running thin for a lot of things I used to love. I´ve got a 3 and a half year old running around and a 4 month old boy too and I spend what little private time I have trying to catch up with movies, series and books I want to see and read. I´m trying to make time for writing and filmwork and that leaves hardly any room for interactive online games. But still, a lot of my creativity went into the games on this website and will always be an inspiration for the things I do today.
I hope you´re all doing well. I hope you´re games will live long and multiply. I hope to come back from time to time and check on the progress.

Topic: Grugg Subject: yeah
Dude, I was thinking about you the other day, when it hit me I was hearing Christmas songs on the radio and connecting that to the video from last year.
I hope you'll recover soon, that your left hand will regain it's intelligence and that we'll see you more active here on the site (look who's talking )!

Hey Cap,
Always happy to see old faces return to the Inn.
Glad to hear things are looking up. Don't be shy and get that creative hoodoo flowing again.
Cheers!

Topic: Thoughts on death. Subject: thanks
Thanks for sharing that, Vesper.
It's a strange thing, dying, which none of us can truly understand. Yes, of course we know that the body stops functioning. But what really happens is the last mystery in life, I suppose. Thinking about that makes you see what is really important. Not your house, not your car, but the fact that you are, indeed, alive, and conscious of it.
Cherish that.

Topic: Alacrity withdrawal Subject: well
You're right to put family and yourself first. Though you are and have been a valuable part of the inn, at certain times even its heart, there have also been times that you had to withdraw due to personal issues. So, that being said: you'll be back.
It may not be soon, but you can't stay away from this place. Sooner or later you'll get that itch again, and you'll find time again. And we'll be here to help you scratch.
Take care, ok!

Topic: Weird War II Subject: sure
With the sudden obliteration of the waxy woman, the group was left wondering what exactly had happened. More so, the Captain was left wondering what exactly the exchange had been between Star and the strange lady, but he was informed of the most important part soon after.
"She said: Hamon-rye is not longer master in my temple," Star translated for them, and then voiced the question that was probably bouncing around in everyone's minds.
They moved onward, into a chamber filled with dead people.
Bullets to the brain, the Captain mused. It was interesting because it could mean two things: these poor people had been executed, or these poor people had not been poor people at all, but risen corpses trying to eat an avid member of an association for gun owners.
In any case, the atmosphere in the room was dreadful. A cold wrapped itself around the Captain's body and tried to bury itself deep in his heart. Luckily for him, his heart was layered with callus, and while this emotional deformity had forced some questionable decisions in the past, it now gave him the necessary protection to continue the mission.
"Go ahead," the Captain nodded to Rat's request to scout. "We'll take a look at this equipment here, trying to figure out what it is that's been going on here."
OOC: He'll check on the corpses himself, to make sure they're really dead and to see if there are any clues to what has happened.

Topic: Weird War II Q n A Subject: well
Yeah, I just posted here. I have limited time, and since my post would've just been a 'ok, let's move on' post I figured I'd spend my literary skills on the next full action one.
Seriously though, there wasn't much to post, so I was lazy. I'm ashamed of myself.
Also, yes, I'm the captain, but don't wait on me. It would kill this game if you'd have to wait for my approval every time you want to make a decision or take action. I know that's not how it works in the real army, but on a pbp-forum-game it can cause a great deal of delay.

Pressing on seems like the only option. Though I'm pretty sure she'll pop up again. Star didn't get possessed by her spirit or anything, did she? If so, let's say the captain thinks this was too easy an encounter to be completely finished.

Topic: Weird War II Subject: star
The captain tried to hide his confused look as Star conversed with the waxy woman before them. Star appeared to have the situation under some form of control. That form being that the woman was willing to talk instead of just rushing at them with raised fangs and talons. He decided to await the result of the conversation and keep his gun ready just in case words couldn't help them in their progress.

For those of you who don't want to appear on the video, please be creative: make a video of your christmas tree while doing an oral, off-screen message, use sock-puppets or action figures or even your cat. As long as the audio is clear. It's the thought that counts.

Topic: Your help NOW! Subject: Your help NOW!
Hello fellow innmates,
As you may have heard, one of our most beloved members is currently unable to access the inn because he's going in and out of the hospital for some serious treatment. Yes, I'm talking about beardmaster Grugg.
As you also may know or realize, the Red Dragon Inn is his second home, and therefore we think it is unthinkable to let the moment pass to send him our get-well-wishes. Since we guess that this is a moment in which he needs our support and positive energy, let's go all-out.
We want you to make a video of yourself, telling Grugg whatever you want, which we will all compile into a nicely edited feature that will put a smile on his bearded face.
The specs:
- shoot a video of yourself, no longer than 30 seconds.
- shoot it horizontally, and make sure the lighting's good
- send it to my emailaddress (which you can find by clicking on my username or via this link), and include your rdinn-username (and real name, if you want).
- keep it positive, keep it decent
- send it to me before next Monday (28th of December)
Do it now, before you forget. And tell all your rdinn-friends about this.
From the RDINN-Staff,
Almerin

Topic: Weird War II Subject: been a while
Luke frowned when he noticed the woman standing in front of the statue, wearing the garment of a priestess or divine maiden perhaps. He didn't know much about Egyptian religion, or culture for that matter, but he knew about women. He knew a LOT about women. For one: smooth skin was good, waxy, flawless skin usually wasn't. It was a sign of a frantic, obsessive mind, like a mask hiding the true nature under a beautiful façade. The women with perfect skin he had encountered, while being employed as an over-amorous milkman, usually ended up being the ones who turned out to be most conceited. This made him fancy the more mundane and imperfect women more. They knew their ‘adventure' to be just that, and nothing lasting or permanent.
"Madam," he addressed the woman, "we must ask you to leave this building at once. We believe it is quite unsafe for you to stay here."
Of course he guessed that she was probably more dangerous and likely to attack them then any of the other hazards inside the temple, but he thought the gallant approach would work in their advantage. If she thought they were no threat, she might be more inclined to talk. If she turned out to be undead or after their blood for other reasons, it didn't hurt to waste a few words to be certain. He just hoped the rest of his team knew to be as ready as ever. A conversation didn't mean he was letting down his guard.

Topic: Weird War II Subject: findings
The captain lured the zombies back into the corridor, where the team made short work of the undead. They searched the room at the end of the hallway, looking for ammo, rations or, more importantly, any clue to what had happened here. Was it the wrath of some Egyptian God that had turned these Nazis and their workers into flesh-craving living corpses? Was this the power of the staff being used by the wrong hands?
The Captain was looking into the papers that were scattered all around the room when the Sergeant came over asking about his findings.
"I'm not sure, Mr Branigan. Other than the words on the wall I don't think we'll be able to gather much information here. We need to get deeper into the building. We'll start there."
He pointed to the eastern set of doors. "Do you think we'll be able to get through them?"

Topic: Weird War II Subject: let's set a trap
The captain motioned for his team to stop before entering the room. The six shambling figures were his first priority. At least, neutralizing them was. There might be some hidden message or clue to what they were dealing with here exactly in the writings on the wall. But he wouldn't let his teammates go into the room while those creatures, whatever they were, were roaming freely.
He gathered his team and told them to retreat into the far end of the hallway.
"I'll lure those things back there, so they won't be able to swarm any of us. Remember to aim for the skull and use blunt force, rather than waste a bullet."
He waited until they had backed away and walked into the doorway. (continue if these things are indeed zombies, he'll retreat if they are not).
There he mustered the most alluring of 'pssht's to the closest zombie, turned around and smacked one of his own buttcheeks. Woman back home had never been able to resist his gorgeous bottom (though he had never used similar tactics on them). He was sure that for a zombie it looked positively irresistible.
Of course he wasn't going to wait around to find out what a zombie's idea of arousal was, but instead went back to his team, luring the zombies along.

Topic: Quest for the pickle Subject: a little help
Hey Astrid,
I found that it's always helpful to explain a bit more about the mechanics of this game. Maybe you can tell potentially interested gamers if this is rules-based (and if so, which rules) or freeform. Do you intend to post once a week/day/doesn't matter? How many people are you looking for?
Also, tell us a bit more about the world where the game will be situated and a bit more about the story you want to create (more about this pickle and mayhem, perhaps?).
Hope that will help.
Good luck with the game!

Topic: Weird War II Subject: Going in
The scene outside the temple was quiet enough for Luke's taste. If everything was calm now, nothing would come later to attack them from behind. He hoped.
Of course there was no knowing what was going to happen once they entered the ruins. So far, it looked like a standard zombie outbreak, though what had caused such an event was unclear so far. What good fortune, he thought to himself, that this place is in the middle of nowhere. Not much chance of a disease spreading in the heart of the desert.
He nodded to the rest of the team to continue. There was no need to tell them to keep their rifles ready. He knew his team and they knew that by entering the temple they were supposed to expect anything. Any Thing. They had seen some weird monstrosities in their time together. What is was the Germans found so attracting in the occult and otherworldly crap, he did not know. But he would clean it up just the same.
(OOC: going into the temple, same formation. Plan is to search rooms for the occult items and shoot anything that's remotely hostile.)
