Don't forget that you are hauling Liquid fertilizer that can also serve as a powerful explosive and is highly illegal to be transporting.

Fun fun fun ....

I can guarantee the game will be here, as to the ship and the crew ... it could get interesting.

Always bringing up that time you were in the jailhouse when it exploded. I remind you that you walked away from that and it was a damn fine scene that I'd put to film any day.

This part is a touchy scene. Lots can go wrong easily. lots of reacting and how fast. Lots of thing could get interesting.

Tann - No Problem. I can wing it for Wolf until then.

Ody - You remind of this character that was played in D&D when I was young. The first guy who played him didn't really look at the character sheet or use his magic. Then I passed it to another person and suddenly we realized that the mage had a bloody arsenal.

You make me regret not double checking Asher's sheet awhile ago. My fault really. EMPs? Sigh.

You have to remember you have 75 civilians wandering around here. Start chucking grenades and someone will get hurt really fast.

I promise that a chance for Asher to completely let loose his arsenal is coming soon.

Subject: First floor

The interior of the AP is massive. The main floor that you are on is used normally to store all the mobile equipment the terraformers use, but right now this is just a mostly empty area. Two stairways go up to a catwalk above that clings to the side of the building. Beyongd that there are more floors going up before hitting the inner works of the AP.

In the centre is the fusion reactor chamber. It is completely shut down right now and you's have to check it to see if the core is intact or whether it was dismantled. They are often left behind because the cost of removing the core safety is far greater that the core itself. The chamber goes straight up to the top of the building, through a shaft directly out of the top.

The antigrav lift is a huge plate that would normally be set to go up and down only to lift the big parts. However the drive shaft is gone so it is effectively a huge heavy plate going nowhere.

LV-426, Outside of Rocinante Cargo hold 7:45 am PT

The man in the white tux looked rather upset, “It appears that I am in error. I apologize for any ... accusations I may have made. If you’ll excuse me.” He straightens his tux jacket and turns to his two flunkies, “The other man with the case. Get him and it. Now!”

Just as he made the declaration, the buzzer alarm went off on Tess's multiband.

Tess looked at her wrist and them looked up. She spoke into her comm, "Company's coming! A ship just broke atmo!". Sure enough, as she finished the call, the thunderous roar of a ship breaking the sound barrier sounded overhead.

LV-426, Inside of Rocinante Infirmary 7:30-7:45 am PT

We'll have to get help with Cameron-san. Captain-san, are you able to walk to the bay unassisted? I'm thinking I'd better check you, as well." Willow said.

“I’ll make the bay,” Wyatt forced through dry lips, still eyeballing the pocket where the little device had vanished. “Once we get there, an’ yer sure you no longer need that kuh wu device; destroy it. Wipe the gorram thing from the ‘Verse, don ma?”

Closing up his shirt and righting himself as quickly as he could, Wyatt avoided eye contact with his friends. When he was presentable once more, he made to assist in moving the man, still wanting nothing to do with the young girl as the charged feeling was still somewhat present.

“Remind me,” he muttered to Willow as they made their way to the medical bay. “To never answer a distress call again.”

Moving down the catwalk, the infirmary wasn't far from the shuttles actually. Ash put Amber on the one bed while Wyatt put Cameron on the side bench. Willow put the finger sleeve into the medical device that was normally used to run diagnostics. She put the machine into "connect with device - find" mode and let it run as she moved to her patients.

Amber was in a heightened state of anxiety and begging to have her toy back. Willow could not cope with her like this so elected to give her a quick sedative to calm her down so Willow could examine her using the MedComp. As it ran through her tests, Willow moved to the Captain and looked at him with stern no-nonsense of looks as she scanned him with her portable MedAcad tool.

Cameron's colour was beginning to return as she finally moved to examine him. He didn't want to look at Willow, avoided eye contact as he said quietly, "I really don't know what happened. She came on to me, I said know and then next thing I knew I ...couldn't stop myself. This overwhelming desire and lust took over. I'm sorry."

All three of the patients showed heightened cerebral stimulation, with Amber being the most "over stimulated". Cameron was ... well exhausted from pushing his body well past the point of pain or personal limits. The captain was most recently affected and his septum pellucidium and the hypothalamus were almost raw with stimulation. As well his dopamine levels were high - very high. The fact that the captain was standing here, instead of acting on baser instincts, spoke volumes to his self control. The diagnostic on the device came back as Unknown device - Cortical Stimulator. Sensory amplifier present, cannot connect to RF unit access code unknown.

Just as Willow was reading the data and pondering what all this means, the comm crackled with Tess' voice, 'Company's coming! A ship just broke atmo!"

LV-426, Atmo Processor 7:45 am PT

Bolt cutters in hand Wolf took the lock off easily opening the door. As decided the two moved forward until the breakers were found and John tripped them flooding the interior with light from florescent bulbs on wired racks to reveal that the Fixer and Tech guy stood inside a huge circular room that would have normally housed equipment and vehicles needed for initial terra-forming, but of course, it was empty now. In the center of this large area was a domed chamber with shafts leading up and all over the upper reaches. The main processor would be in there and would be secured but they were after the Atmos Processor not the main and it was up the shafts near the top of the building.

“Any ideas?"

(Map is on the way)

Suddenly, both John and Wolf's comm activated to the sound of Tess' voice. "Company's coming! A ship just broke atmo!". Sure enough, as she finished the call, the thunderous roar of a ship breaking the sound barrier sounded, loud enough to hear through the walls of the AP.

(assuming both of you head to the door to look out)

LV-426, Emergency Landing Field 7:50 am PT (8:00 am landing and disembark)

A ship appeared overhead and quickly swooped around the landing field and Rocinante. It was a ASREV with federal Marshall emblems on it. It did not land immediately but moved around the processor and Rocinante for awhile - as if scouting out the area and doing a recon of the area.

The passengers all began to get up, cheering and happy that they were saved. The authorities had come for them. The ASREV did a final parameter sweep and then landed, lowering onto the landing field directly behind Rocinante.

As the engines powered down, the landing ramp lowered and out walked a man in the black uniform and trench coat of the federal Marshalls. He was a tall man, handsome in a rugged sort of way with brown hair and an easy smile. He had a sidearm at his right and machine pistol on other. Behind him came two other men, dressed in full Alliance military armor and carrying assault rifles slung over their shoulders.

One thing I need to work out is how much it will cost you to fix the drive pod properly when you are done. that could cost some serious coinage in the end.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA
Subject: Loki question

Loki asked me a series of questions that were very good so I am posting them and my answers here for everyone to see.

1a) Is it within John's abilities to build a long-range transmitter, one powerful enough to reach Sihnon? (Also, would that be a Create/Alter Technical Device check?)

It would be an INCREDIBLE complex action with each roll representing 1 hour dedicated. The transmitter is there in the building, you would need to boost the signal, change the frequency to modulate over commonly used bands and you’d need to build an amplifier. You would also have to activate the fusion reaction.

1b) Could the gang of nerds that were previously checking out the Roc's engine room be encouraged to aid in the construction of such a transmitted?

Sure but only one of them has practical knowledge. The others are all theoretical physicists and frankly, they do not work well together.

1c) Would John be able to salvage or use the equipment within the atmospheric processor to build and power a long range transmitter?

Yes. The Fusion reactor here can pump out a lot of power. The transmitter is here, it is just the matter of “fixing it” to be off the cortex and use frequencies to which someone might be listening.

2a) Is the room at the base of the processor large enough to house the Roc's passengers and crew?

Definitely. You could get everyone in here with comfort. If you explore a bit, there are “barrack” type rooms above you.

2b) Is the room at the base of the processor a defendable enough position should the crew or passengers attract any unwelcome attention?

Depends on the definition of defensible. Yes, you could get everyone in here, close the doors and limit the access that bad guys would have to you. But the walls are not armour plated, you have a fusion reactor in the middle of your building and the atmo processor is a large unmoving target to any ship with a targeting system.

3a) I know you've said the parts we need are in the upper shafts of the processor, but could we get a list of the parts and where they may be located?

You basically need to steal a turbine that you can fit in the drive pod of Rocinante the fit doesn’t have to be perfect, just be able to spin long enough to get you off planet. Then you need to steal some hydraulics and steel to jury rig a door system for the drive pod to shut it off when you are in space.

3b) Are there any obvious or apparent ways to access the shafts near the top of the building?

There are stairs and catwalks. I have not posted a fully description because you just got in the door

4) Does John know if Atmospheric Processors keep spare parts around somewhere?

Usually anything worth money is taken with the terraformers when they leave. It is possible that something is left behind.

5) Where could something be found/what could be used to patch the crack in the Roc's reactor core?

The reactor is surrounded by special plates and one is cracked. Wolf has spare plates but has to wait for the core to cool before he can do so (see my post on page 46 of game)

The lie about being a courier is complicated by the fact that couriers usually are hired not to be noticed and to move as fast as they can. You are doing neither. If I were to make a suggestion, I'd work on the lie to explain why you lied so you don't get caught with the lie.
