That's my Fantasy! Woohoo!

I'm a polo shirt and khaki pant type of guy. I also love t-shirts with unusual prints on them from places I have visited. I have three t-shirts strictly for D&D playing. One says "Carpe DM - Seize the Dungeon Master", another is a black dragon printfrom collar to bottom, and the other is labeled "Continuing Where we Last Left Off" on the front and "They're Not That Tough" on the back.

The door out of this room has no lock, and upon a examination from Dapple, she realizes that although not trapped, the door is not hinged either. In fact, with the smallest amount of pressure, the old door would have come crashing down into the hallway.

She listens carefully, the magically induced silence of Kilgim now ended. The sounds from above are distracting but to Dapple’s elven ears, there is no sounds coming from beyond the door.

(assuming someone will open it carefully)

The layout before you is what you had expected from Gwanele’s map. Before you is an open area about 20 x 20 feet. There is a good solid door to the immediate right of you, on the north wall. There is a corridor to the south with a number of doors in various states of decay. It looks as though the rooms and cells to the south have not been used by the current inhabitants. This room itself has no furnishing or décor of any sort, other than a pattern of mold on the far wall that resembles a man’s head with very big hair.

The smell of pine is stronger here. It permeates the nose so much so that you feel you can taste the scent. At first you thought it might be a cleaning liquid, but this is stronger than that, like a concentrated smell of pine sap.

Dapple listens to the north door and checks it. It is not locked, but this one is indeed hinged. There is a fair amount of rust on the bolts too, sending suspicions through Dapple and Char that the door will creek loudly when opened.

They have offered me the job. It is mine to have and they want me to come in to fill out all the paperwork. However, i want to make sure of some details not discussed yet before I sign anything (vacation time, benefits, etc etc).

yo usee, in my wife's line of work, they send out offers of employments that you get to read and have your lawyer go ovr first before you sign. This is what I expected, but doesn't seem to be happening. But I have only change jobs once in the last 25 years and it was family oriented, so there was no offer. So maybe the offers of employment only occur in the high level professional sales circles. I do not know. I will go in Tuesday with full intention to sign up, but I want to go over all the details first.

Subject: There'll be time enough for counting

“Good, solid sten-bolts is all. Figured you could get some fair market pricin’ fer the lot of them… got a good five cartons full: five hunnerd, shiny.”

“Willow! You sly vixen. What you be tryin’ to do to me 'ere?”

"Dodger, darlin', if I were attempting to ‘do’ you, there'd be no mistaking it for anything else. I told the captain, if anyone could move marked goods and get close to market value, it's Dodger, and so here we are. We hadn't gotten to talking about price yet, and we had no intention of hiding anything. With me, sweetness, what you see is what you get."

“Same’s clean through fer the lot o’ us, Dodger. I ain’t no Chwen, and ain’t lookin’ to wind up on the wrong end of Dodger’s interests. Like I said, five hunnerd o’ them. These here are good, solid pieces o’ equipment, Dodger. They ain’t some spoiled turnips we’re trying to dice and pass off as raisons. They’ll fetch ya a good price on the flipside, so what’s your offer?”

A moment. It isn’t a long stretch of time - the space of time between the clicks of the second hand. There was a lot that could happen in a moment though. Wyatt had seen scores of men die in a moment. Dash had pulled Rocinante from certain destruction in a moments turn of the wheel. Willow, well she had seen men do in a moment what should have lasted an entire evening, yet a moment was all she needed to bring a man from death to life on an operating table.

A moment passed between Dodger looking at the serial number of the sten-bolt. That was all it was, a serial/lot number that was stamped on manufactured goods. Sam saw that from where he was sitting. Nothing saying alliance only goods or any such cautions – after all they were just gorram sten-bolts. But Wyatt wasn’t looking at the serial number; he saw the fear flash in Dodger’s eyes. Something about this shipment scared the big man, and scared him badly.

Dodger sized up Wyatt and his crew in the same moment. After which the guarded smile was replaced by the genuine one, followed by that infectious laugh. “Ahhh, Miss Willow, dese not be marked. No fears dere. And you speak truth, I can move marked goods if the goods be good. But dis is the first time I ‘ave ‘ad anyone bring me goods what were stolen from me, looking for a good price.”

(assuming some astonishment here)

“See, I ‘ad a client want to move dese bolts along with other such merch, going to Newhall. I used an independent operator, much like yourselves, to do the deed. Trustwort’y sort who ‘ad done many jobs in de past.” Dodger leaned back as if to weigh his words, “Dat be Captain North and ‘is swan - Nina ‘artley

(You have all heard of Nina Hartley. It was found adrift in the black, with no crew, no cargo. Reports on the waves said it was hit by pirates, using an EMP to disable the ship, then overriding the backup systems to open all hatches – sucking the crew into the void.)

“Yeah Mon! Dat de one. Very ‘arsh way to steal 2 credit a piece sten-bolts. But pirates don’t always know the cargo is good or not. So I ‘ave to make amends to the client. I ‘ave a rep to keep. Offer to pay de cost of d’ goods, and compensation, Mon. But ‘e’s all no worries Mon. Even t’rows a big job to me to make sure dere be no ‘ard feelings. I don’t bite the ‘and that feeds Mon, but dere be lesser mon than me on a meat ‘ook for losing dis cat’s stuff, you know what I mean?

(Assume some commentary here)

“So ‘ere you be wit’ part of dis cargo. So what am I to do? If I send you ‘way and you move dem elseswhere, word gets out, my reputation is shot and you be in trouble. If I try to move dem and word gets out, then my rep be trashed and dere be questions. If I take dem and turn ‘em over to my client, then ‘e’ll want names and you’d be in a world of ‘urt that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, let alone alls of you. So what am I to do now? Dat be de question.”

I have been seeking a new job. I received an offer from IKON on Friday for Site manager. It looks very promising right now, but i will be going in to the head office on Tuesday to see all the details. From the verbal offer though, I am very happy with the terms and it is exactly what I was looking for in a job.

This will probably mean I won't be on the site as much as I have been for awhile. My current job had me very very very very bored so I sought refuge here. However, I am not leaving the site in anyway shape or form, just going to have a real job again.

If you ever thought to yourself, I wish I had a job where they paid me to do nothing - let me tell you from experience NO YOU DO NOT! It is fun for a few months but it is terrible after that.

As to how far to go with the date? Taking it as far as leaving for the Roc (btw - I like this shortform. I see it pronounced as ross) is fine with me. This is not an intergral part of the plot, in fact it is a sideline I'm doing because it is fun to play out (to think I was going to merely say "you had an interesting night"). So have fun with it but don't add any major complications. You will have a marvelous meal, Auntie Sun will not take your money but will charge it to the Takahari family (making some blunt comment about how they'll never even notice it darling, but do tell Miss Call-me-Willow that I treat you right.Okay? Thank you, darling). No one will jump you on the way back.

OOC: As with the other game, I am sorry for the delay. RL sucked me in and spun me around these last couple of weeks. Glad to be back.

Meeting the Dodger

Dodger’s place of business was in the seedy side of town, where Dodger had been born. “I be born 'ere, Mon, and I be buried 'ere Mon!” He would exclaim if anyone asked why he remained here.

Wyatt, Sam and Willow entered the establishment, a basic building that could be a residence or a business and did not stand out to anyone on the street. Willow was dressed to the nines and looking her best. Sam was doing his level best to not be distracted, which was barely avoiding walking into light poles and brick walls while admiring her walk from behind.

At the doorway inside, you are met by Dodger’s bodyguards, Hack and Slash. Hack was a huge giant of a Chinese man, head shaved except a long bound top-knot and well honed muscles covering his body. He dressed in deep blue Wu-Shun trousers with vest and walked with a graceful precision of a cat. Slash was also a large man, Caucasian by descent. His right eye, left arm and upper half of his chest were all replaced with cybernetics. He dresses only in red boxer type shorts and crisscrossing leather straps that held two Dao Broadswords on his back. Slash made no move towards you as you entered, merely watching you through the red optic of his artificial eye.

Hack bowed to you respectfully and motioned to a table by the door. You had been here before and you knew the rules, no guns pass this point. There is no point arguing the issue and it is a matter of honour in Dodger’s house that no one goes in armed.

Once inside, the office is a smoky place, with many drapes and curtains giving the oversize place a feeling of many rooms. Dodger leans on his desk awaiting you. He is a tall man, black skinned and dressed in a t-shirt and pants of a multitude of banded colours. He smiles broadly as you enter. “Captain Wyatt Mon! Good to see you?” He steps forward to shake hands. “Sam! ‘Ow you doin’ Mon! Nice Shirt! ‘Ow long you ‘ave to wear to win de bet?” He asks with a hearty laugh. Then he lays eyes upon Willow and he whistles slowly, “Willow, my my my. You are looking fine Girl.” He shoots a look back at Wyatt, “You are an unfair man, mon. Bring a beautiful woman to my ‘ome like dis, ‘ow am I suppose to talk business wit’ a clear ‘ead?” He laughs again while strolling around his desk to sit down. “Can I offer you a drink? Smoke? Other pleasures?” He asks still laughing infectiously.

(Assume some small talk here. Dodger serves only the best to his guests)

“So. Willow say you ‘ave some cargo you need moved. Whatcha got Mon that be burning a ‘ole in your ‘ull?”

(assuming you brought a sample to show)

Dodger looks at the stem bolt critically. He leans over and turns on a lamp. The light form the lamp is a dark one, but it illuminates writing on the stem bolt that was otherwise invisible. He looks at the writing for a long time, and then starts laughing again. He looks over to you with a smile, but the look in his eyes is no longer as warm.

“Willow! You sly vixen. What you be tryin’ to do to me 'ere?”

On the Ship

Trish re-organizes the goods within the cupboards of the galley. Willow was a dear for wanting to help, but Trish had a system for organizing and she preferred to do it herself. Plus it was important to hide some of the stock away or else Asher or Sam could eat them out of a week’s worth of food in one sitting. She shook her head at the memory of her finding Sam and Asher once eating concentrated protein paste out of the tube. She shuddered at the memory.

Speaking of protein paste, Trish noticed something strange. She has five of the small jars left, hidden in the back cupboard and as she removed them to rotate them with the fresh bought jars, she noted that one was open and half empty. Those boys! If they are going to eat my gorram stash, they could at least not put an open package back!

Meanwhile, Kora worked on the engine, happily grease covered and thinking at the same time. Captain mentioned they would be heading to Frisco on Regina – which was where an old army buddy of hers lived, last she heard. She wondered if Shakespeare was still there. She also wondered how he was doing. So many of the survivors had turned to one vice or another after the war.

The Date

OOC: I added some conversation but you may embellish afterwards

Beth looked up at the sign of the restaurant that Asher had brought her. She stopped in her place. “Asher? You don’t mean this Sunni’s Noodle House?”

The Kid looked at her and up at the sign, “Is there another?”

“No but …”

“Well then” The young man gestures and walks up the stairs. Beth follows looking very bewildered.

Inside, the restaurant has a waiting area, which is a sign of trouble to Asher. In fact, the waiting area is quite fancy and posh, with a coat check (that actually takes coats, mind you) and a well dressed lady at the doorway to the entrance. She looks at the young couple dubiously. “Yes? Can I help you?”

(assuming some sort of “we’d like a table”)

The young girl looks at Asher with a barely concealed scorn. “What is your name? You have reservations? We are quite busy right now.”

As she looks at her book with insincere disappointment, a diminutive woman comes up beside her. A Pan-Asian woman of some years, and a very determined look about her. “What are you doing, girl?” She says loudly and pushes the young girl out of the way. She comes to Asher directly and takes his hand, “You must be Asher Talhone, am I right, of course I am. Come, come! I have a table set aside for you, very special, away from the common place people we put near the kitchens.” As she says that she stops at the shocked expressions of a couple dining that overheard her comment. “Marcus, darling, you are looking well. Hilda, my goodness, you have gained a ton. More soup, less pork buns for you, darling.” She says with a wide smile and then smoothly glides to a room off to the side of the main dining room.

The room is set up for two, with candles and fine china. A bottle of sake sits on a warmer within reach of the table. “Come now, come, come. Please sit down. Let me take your coats.” The tiny woman says as you move to sit down, “You girl!” She shouts at a passing server who stops in her tracks to accept the coats unceremoniously tossed at her. “Go! Hang these up and tell Mina I want a special dinner for two for the guests of the Takahara family.” She turns back to the couple, “I took the liberty of putting out sake for you. I am not sure what you drink on that ship of yours, but I am sure it is dreadful. Bathtub gin, I am sure!”

“I am Auntie Sun, you are my guests. Tonight, you will be dazzled and amazed by a culinary masterpiece like no other. I am inspired, darlings, merely inspired! I want to create an evening of enjoyment for you like no other.” She gestures wildly around the room, then her eyes settle on Beth, “My, aren’t you a healthy one with the bosoms? No no, no modesty. It is good to be proud of the assets one is given. No plastic women here!” She turns to leave the room, “be sure to sample the hargow as it is real shrimp, grown on premises darling. The pork, well we all have our limits. I’ll be back shortly to see how you are doing. If you are not stuffed to bursting, then I will have failed!”

OOC: Tann has asked that his character’s name be changed to avoid confusion. Therefore Talas is now Maximas Meridias Jerale. Please update your notes and notify the media.

I have been very busy of late, so sorry about the delay.

Arien took in all that was said by Maximus (formerly Talas) and the surprising words of Dapple Moon. He shook his head and moved himself directly in front of the gladiator so they could have eye contact.

Arien’s words were calm and collected, but his eyes flashed of anger, “Maximus, you took this mission knowing the dangers, knowing the way we were taking in and knowing your companions. Now is not the time for you to be saying no and now is not the time to sow seeds of distrust. Adrian is with us and serves with us – put all else aside. All he has tried to do from the beginning is to be helpful. He is from the empire, yes, and he makes no apologies for that and I don’t ask him too. Dapple is from the empire, as is Jal. The lands I call home were imperial less than 75 years ago. We all agree the empire is evil, and has touched us all. I judge a man on his deeds, not his past. So if you cannot get pass these prejudices of yours, then leave now and await our return at the base camp. But if you are the better Man that, as I think you are, then drive out those feelings of fear and distrust, fill the void with courage and stand with me. My sister may be in that tower and she needs our help. I need you. She needs you. Are you with me?”

(Assuming Maximus is staying)

Dapple took the lead down the tunnel, with the other following behind. The old sewage trench was definitely not constructed by dwarves and it became big enough to be roomy even for Maximus and Arien. Those of you with military training come to realize this was probably build this way as a alternate route out of the keep, come a siege or an attack. This is confirmed when secret caches of rusty swords, spears and shields are found along the way.

Traveling the length of the tunnel, there is no sign of recent use. Soon Dapple reaches the end of the passageway, her elven eyes searching the way out. There is a small hole in the roof, certainly the former latrine area, but it is boarded up. Tearing out the boards would be very noisy and certainly attract attention.

Dapple feels around to see if there might be another passage or a secret door. The wall to the south reveals something of interest, when it starts to give way was she pushes against it. The bricks are stacked without mortar, and can be easily removed. Ever the caution one, Dapple checks over each brick as best she can, looking for trap mechanisms, but finds nothing. Wordlessly, she begins to silently remove the bricks, with Char moving beside her to help until a way is created.

Before you is a room. It is the old uniform storage from back when the tower was occupied. Shelves and wooden dowelling still hang here, but the contents are long removed. There is only one door out of this room, on the west wall. There is no one in the room, nor anything of interest. From above, you hear the sound of feet running back and forth, as well as objects being moved.

There is a scent in the air, of pine sap and astringent (think Pine Sol cleaning fluid). The smell is very strong but there is no source to it in the room. Whatever it is, it comes from something close by.

OOC: I sent maps out before, but let me know if you need another.

Playing to your complications will lead to you getting plot points that allow you to effect the story, save your bacon, or make better skill rolls. Example would be Asher using plots point to seduce Beth and hence a quick blurb of an evening has now fdrwan out into an adventure of its own.

Playing assets have bonuses built in, but good roleplaying in general leads to advancement points that you can use to gain more skills, or better at the skill you already have.

“She …the prisoner managed to unscrew the hinges off the door using the buckles of her uniform. We caught her trying to get out through the kitchen.”

Dalmer shook his head, “Resourceful isn’t she? Where is she now?”

“We returned her to her room and tied her to the bed. I hit her with some tox to make her quiet.”

Dalmer’s hand lifted and the soldier found himself in the air, float as it were, “You gave her what?”

“Umm…..ahhh…just a bit of tox sir.”

Dlamer twisted his hand and the soldier screamed in pain. A small voice in the back of his head told him to stop, but he didn’t listen. With simple gestures he tore off the limbs of the soldier one by one the dropped the torso on the ground. “Untouched! I said untouched!” Dalmer said though grinding teeth. He stepped over the dying body of the soldier and hurried to the stairs leading up to the room.

He entered the dark room. The sword was on the floor beneath the bed and the girl was sleepin gin a drugged slumber. The rage within him would not be unanswered, “Get up!” He commanded.

The girl opened her eyes and tried to stand. the soldiers had tied her up to the bed. Dalmer waved his hand that the bonds broke one by one. She stood up and took a few steps. Every movement was resisted to the last and Dalmer saw the defiance in her eyes. Part of him admired the spirit, while another fantasized about breaking it. “Take the sword in your hands.” He commanded.

Alloryn stepped slowly, like a summoned undead staggering from the grave. The emperor had said the action had to be of free will, but Dalmer no longer cared. She’d take it and she’d do what he wanted. The mage stopped before the sword and then finally stooped down to grasp the hilt.

The colonel found himself on the ground. A wave of energy hit him like a club. His green left arm throbbed with power. He rolled quickly and stood again. Looking at the girl in the dark.

He eyes had changes to a glowing green. The wave had come from her, form the spirit that now was in possession of her body. The necklace of command strained as if being pulled apart at the seams.

‘I order you to stop!” he shouted

“I WILL NOT BE CONTAINED!” A cold feminine voice came from within the girl. The sword dropped to the floor from her limp hands.

Dlamer found himself being lifted up. This was unexpected for he had been told that without light, she’d have no power. Clearly someone had the wrong information about the spirit. He focused the power of his hand, and lifted the girl up as well, then threw her against the closet wall as hard as he could muster. It seemed to work as he found himself on the ground again. Not waiting for a second chance, he brought the girl up and smashed her again into the wall, and again, and a third time to be sure. He let the limp body of the girl slump to the floor. Damn. This wasn’t the plan. The Emperor will not be pleased

The hatch to the room opened and Boris’s head popped up. “Colonel? Sir? I can’t see a thing?”

“That’s because it is dark in here Boris.”

“Oh! Are you okay sir?”

‘Yes, but we have had a setback Boris. Tell the men and the reds we are going to plan B. Let the dwarves feel her wrath when she awakes. It is time for us to leave immediately.”
