Subject: Got the message

I saw the message today and decided to check in and see if I remembered my password. Oddly enough, it only took a second try and I got in!

Got married, have a 5 year old empress running the household, moved back to my home town... I'm working on character sheet stuff on my website (I'll link you, I promise) and I've even run some live streams of RPGs on Twitch and YouTube (minor things that most people won't notice; I'll link to those as well).

It's good to be back and I plan on staying a little bit this time.

Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear about your health problems, Grugg my old chap. I would like to help, starting by sharing that charity run link, get that word out and such.

I hope you are feeling better, but I really don't know what else to say.

Holy moly, I remembered my password!

I haven't logged in here for YEARS! I've missed all the ongoings here, I've missed most of the site's problems and downs.

How is everyone? Are faces still being licked? Is Grugg still being... you know, Grugg?

Many of you have no idea who I am but like I said, I haven't logged in here in probably close to or over a decade. I am Skari-dono, the wild and misunderstood. Or exaggerating and not-as-cool-as-he-says. I didn't do much before logging off and haven't done much since. I was, if memorey serves, the resident Icelander here at the Inn, but I have no idea how many of us there are now since I haven't really checked.

In any case, it is nice to be back, at least for the time being, and see what has changed and what has improved.

Roll on and roll out!

Ex-cop/ice guy has been approved

Sorry for the lack of posting that I've promised. I've got stuff that I need to finish (fixing up 2 or 3 computers for relatives that have been sitting on my desk for some weeks) and a game in the evening, but I hope to get a post in this week so we can continue this game.

May have noticed, I did not post today. RealLife(TM) got in the way. Tomorrow is looking promising though.

Ayrn asked if I would allow him to either revise his character or create a completely new one, since he felt Christina didn't really fit into the group dynamic. I agreed but before I could reply Ayrn had already posted for Christina in case I answered negatively.

Anyway, I'm afraid I won't have much time to review any new character ideas until after work tomorrow. I just finished an evening shift and I'm going on a morning shift tomorrow. Ayrn, since I don't know what you plan on doing, if you are revising your character or making a new one, I need to approve the character before you post.

As for the rest of you, I plan on posting tomorrow, whether Ayrn's character is ready or not.

Just read through your posts and everything looks awesome. Looking forward to how this game will develop

To those of you who have spent their earned Power Points, I will add the new stuff to your character sheets tomorrow. Running a bit late as it is and I have an early start tomorrow for work.

EDIT: Sorry guys, instead of doing what I intended, I spent my evening watching Captain America: Winter Soldier. My err will be remedied after work tomorrow, I hope.

Subject: To clarify

Increasing a trait is fine, as long as you keep it within the Power Level limit. However, rearranging your traits beyond the Power Points I awarded you counts as changing. If adding is changing, I probably wouldn't have said that you could add and not change. I did not name anyone specifically, so if you believe you have not made any changes and only added to your character, you're probably fine. If you don't have to provide a new character-sheet, you're probably fine.

As for posting conversations, I have no specific preference. As long as you can differentiate between speech, thought and anything else, I'm fine with it. You can use colours however you like, as long as it can be read. If I can read it and understand it, great.

I will personally be using bold to indicate spoken words, just so it is easier to spot.

Noir Camelot
Issue 1, Series 1
The Disappearance of Prof. Stern

The dark city of New Camelot stands against the wind and rain. Each raindrop is a reminder of how this city has failed its people, how the corrupt have allowed the vile to run unhindered through its underbelly.

Against all that which is malicious stands the church of Our Lady of Victory, vigilant and menacing, a reminder of things that won't stand for this corruption. The rain crushes against the stained windows, but the church will neither bend nor break. On the rooftops stand angels and gargoyles together and watch over the innocent and weak, but inside they gather, the Knights of New Camelot.

Dutch approaches the brood, stern faced and hastened in his steps. This is a serious matter, one that he did not summoned the group for in jest.

"Thank you for coming," he says. "I know it's a short notice, but this required some urgency." He stretches his arm to the door and a dame enters. An attractive specimen of the more likeable gender, she walks in hesitantly in her red dress and expensive fur coat. "These are the friends I told you about," Dutch says in as friendly a voice as he can muster. "Please, tell them what you told me."

"My name is Gwendolyn Marionette-Stern. Professor Albert Stern is my husband." And so she begins her story.

Professor Albert Stern is one of the world's leading experts in theoretical physics and specializes in research regarding Zygma Waves. He lives a good life with his wife and their son, and he is a good man. Recently, however, he has been working late on some project and won't speak about it to anyone, not even his wife. There have been secret phone-calls in the middle of the night, and sometimes he sleeps in his office or doesn't sleep at all.

Then he started avoiding people completely. First his friends, then his family. He argued once on the phone during his so-called 'secret' calls, and ignored any questions about it. Shortly thereafter, someone beat up their auto mobile with a baseball bat. The Professor was shocked but lied to his wife; said it was nothing, just a prank. That same night, three nights ago, his office burned down and the police said he had died in the fire.

"But I know he is alive," Gwendolyn said with a tissue to her eye. "Yesterday morning, I noticed that someone had entered our home and taken something from the safe. Albert was the only person who could have opened that safe, and he did it in a hurry. It was still open when I woke up and nothing else had been moved." She gracefully wiped away a rogue tear that had escaped down her cheek.

"Please," she implored. "Sebastian needs his father and I need my husband. Can you find him?"

Topic: M&M3 New Camelot: Noir Camelot Q/A
Subject: Heya guys

I probably should have made my point clearer earlier: Before I gave you the extra Power Points for the work you put into your characters I gave you a last chance to make any changes to your characters.

The Power Points I gave you afterwards were not supposed to mean you could make any changes to the characters you've already made, but to add to them. So I am going to have to ask you nicely here: Do not rearrange the points of your characters to make him different (no matter how small the change). The PPs are a reward for the work you've finished, not some work half-way done. I will not approve of any changes, so don't send me new character-sheets; just ask me to add this or that(TM) and I will look into it.

Also, a fair warning, you are looking here at a GM that has actually never run a game of M&M since that one time during 2nd edition. What the heck do I know about the rules anyway? They're more like guidelines anyway

EDIT: Oh, and the game has started

Subject: Gee...

Apologies for the delay. I've been working a lot this weekend and wasn't feeling well on Thursday (overly tired, mostly). Things should hopefully be getting back on track though, and I should be able to get this game into action.

But here are some good news: I'm giving all of you some bonus Power Points! Yay! It will be based on some factors but mostly on how well you did your characters. You are still limited to the Power Level Limit of the game (8, in case you forgot), but you can otherwise use the points however you like or save them for a rainy day.

Eol and Alacrity both get 2 points each - Both their characters have interesting stories and concepts, which I am excited to see in the game

Hammer gets 3 points - He put a lot of effort into making his character and did many remakes to get him exactly right.

Ayrn gets 5 points - For being so helpful as to help everyone with their characters while I wasn't present. The help was greatly appreciated

Please post here or send me a PM if you want to use these points. I'm still working on how I'd like the Advancement to work out in the game, but I'm leaning towards allowing you to instantly spend any Power Points that I reward. Once you've earned 15 Power Points (not counting the points I just rewarded you), the PL increases. How does that sound?

The backstory is approved and has been added to your character. The backstory of your sidekick has been left out however, as to not confuse the two.

Welcome! I've been here for about 7 years, with about 5 years on hiatus. Getting in is easy, it's escaping the place that is the real challenge

Don't be intimidated by D&D, it's simple enough when you get the hang of it. And you can find other non-D&D games here as well; I personally prefer other games, dominantly World of Darkness but I'm also getting a Mutants & Masterminds game on its feet at the moment. So yeah, diversity is definitely a thing

All characters approved!

I'm giving you some time to make any minor changes you deem necessary, but try to keep it small if any. Next week is going to be very work-heavy for me, with many working days and long hours, so it may be unlikely that the game will get started until the week after that.

Lets say that you have until Thursday to make any changes to your characters, but after that they cannot be changed except for advancements.

Started adding characters to this thread as they are approved. In some cases, there are information that are cut up in my inbox and lying here and there, and I am still waiting for a final version of Samael to approve.

Once all characters are approved and ready, I hope to get the game started soon.

Could be that you have your pop-up blocker blocking the chat window from opening. Had that problem once. If that is the case, you need to allow pop-ups for RDINN.com, which might either be your browser or your antivirus provider.

When your characters are ready and finalized, PM them to me. There are drafts all over the place and I would like to have the characters all in one place. I will then put them up on the first page of this thread for easier access once they have been approved.

I will be looking at some of your calculations, but not too closely. I am a bit spoiled in that my players have usually known what they were doing, so I trust that you do too. So I will mainly check out if your characters are within the Power Level limit.

Also, I will not accept a character that doesn't have at least two complications. It is fairly easy stuff, part of character creation and all that, but also easy to overlook once you're done with crunching numbers. Additionally, I will not accept idiotic complications. If you put down the most silly thing you can think of, I will ask you to change it or I will bombard your character in the game with frequent occurrences of this silly complication.

Finally, a requirement, I need to know what you are playing. I'm especially looking at Grugg here, since I still have no idea what his character's concept is or what it is. As far as I know, it is a construct of some kind, most likely robotic. But it is also the 1930s, so I am very keen on knowing how that robot exists (excited even ).

I believe we have 5 players, so when I have 3 characters' final drafts in my inbox, I'll start working on getting this story set in motion.

Once I get home from work this evening, I will be on chat to answer any questions you might have. I should be home around 8pm GMT (no daylight savings here though), so soon after that. Keep an eye open for the password.

Subject: Yep...

Back home from my holiday and starting a working weekend (where I work to 19:30 each day, starting 7:30 today and 10:00 Saturday and Sunday, yay). So I think it would be a good idea if everyone would post their concept ideas and Origin to this thread. I know some of you have already sent me a PM with these information, but I would really like to keep it all in one place.

Please do not PM me and ask if this or that is OK for a backstory, just post it here directly. As far as I know, any backstory is acceptable, as long as they do not involve squirrels or irradiated toilets. Or actually, the irradiate toilet is probably fine too. Just have a backstory/Origin, even if it includes "my character has no idea where he comes from". That's fine too.

Everyone's character seems fine as far as I've seen, although I have no idea what the status on Zilver Wreker is, so I believe we should soon be able to get the game started.

(If anyone's wondering, and before you bombard my inbox with any questions, I run on GMT clock with no daylights savings.)

Doesn't say in my book, so I'm ruling that you can affect others of same Insubstantiality normally. Affecting anything more substantial needs modifiers, as does affecting anything less substantial.

Topic: M&M3 New Camelot: Noir Camelot Q/A
Subject: Actually...

If you are Incorporeal you need the Affect Corporeal Modifier, which has a flat cost but still has ranks. While you're Incorporeal, any effect that has this modifier is limited by the modifier's rank.

So, for example, if you have Blast 5 with the Affect Corporeal modifier at 2 ranks, your Blast only works at 2 while you are Incorporeal (against corporeal targets, that is). If you want to make full use of your attacks, you need to spend a few more points (not much I think).
Of course, I don't know if they changed this in the revised rules, so if anyone has that I'd like to know if there's a difference.

As for the rest of your character, I can't see anything wrong with him so far. I approve of the Sidekick, Sanctum Sanctorum and Vehicle, although you might want to consider some features for the Sanctum (which you can add later if you like). Extra thumbs up for the inventing pastor
The best thing about Devices is that you can keep them as powerful as the Power Level limit of the game allows, i.e. you are not limited by the Equipment your buy with EP. The removable bit is a flat cost of -1 per 5 power points for the device. The cost is -2 per 5 PP if the device is easily removed (such as with most hand-held devices).

For example, a device that has a total cost of 20 PP, you would divide 20 with 5 to figure out the refund for the removable flaw. You always figure out the removable flaw's refund after you've applied all other modifiers and flaws. Regarding arrays, I believe the removable flaw applies to the array's total cost, and not individual power/effect within the array (although the cost shouldn't change that much). Not sure though, since I don't have the revised rules and I don't know if they clarified it there.
