Topic: Audalis X - The Future Awaits
Subject: Audalis X - The Future Awaits

I've been playing a lot of Cyberpunk, Warhammer, and Shadowrun lately, and got to thinking what would Audalis look like in such a setting? Since the Inn is relaunching with a more modern feel, this might be a great way to generate some new content.

Audalis X: The turn of the millenium has come and gone. Technology has become exponentially more sophisticated, and many things that once were considered miracles are the things of grade school projects. Wizards lend their arcane powers to R&D departments, and the gods tend to bless professions in passing rather than court lifelong devotees. It's not uncommon for a hospital administrator to ask Lysora's approval before hiring a new chief of medicine, or for images of Rydor to adorn courtrooms.

While the times have changed, much of the world remains the same. The streets of Sendria are no more safe than they were in 452 ER, Pardinal is still a simple place with acres of farmland and terrible wifi, the sylvari remain staunch environmentalists, and Bayris is, unsurprisingly, the only nation that refuses to join the Antaron parliament.

Topic: The Death of the Inn?
Subject: I don't think it's dead, but maybe on life support

It's ironic I was just thinking about this site last week. I can say life has happened. The times are definitely changing, and I think the rise of mobile devices are what's killing site. Back in 2002 or so it was common to sit on the desktop and chat away into the late night hours, writing and posting. Now it's about browsing sites on your phone.

That and there is a component of fear. I fear getting so deeply involved in a game and then having to flake. So I just stopped joining and running games. But that doesn't excuse the lack of just being around. I have literally so many memories of this site and for some reason they all came flooding back last week. Actually that's a lie - a song that used to play on RPG Radio popped up on my Pandora and I think that's what triggered it.

Funny timing, eh?

Maybe this is the spark the site needs.

Been way too long my friend. I do know that I am far too much of a flake to involve myself in any games, but I could surely use about a gallon of the finest swill around.

Hi everyone. I used to come around here a lot. Then I stopped. I had two kids. I got a really nice job. Then I lost that job.

It's been a weird few years since I left. I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to stop by and say hi.

In all fairness you took a break after your first two to learn how to do parenting. I think I'll wait a few years on number 3 until I actually know what I'm doing

Hi guys. Been out for a while (years? I forgot).

I've been keeping up with many of you on facebook and honestly I've been avoiding this place for fear of being sucked back in. Working two full time jobs with two kids is draining to say the least. But I figured I'd stop in and say hi and remind you all that I still love you

Also I want to lurk a few games and live vicariously through you.

On another note: Shadowrun is back!!

Rewrite the adventure hook, campaign summary, mission objectives, etc. all from the villians point of view.

Everyone is the hero of their own story.

I place the blame solely on the release of Diablo 3...

Subject: Avengers Discussion (Spoilers!)

So with two threads dedicated to spoiler free talking points, let's open it up to those of us who saw it already.

What did you *really* think about the movie?

LAST WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I thought it was amazing, actually. I was happy to pay theatre price and might even go again. As much as I thought Stark would steal the show, I thought Hulk actually was the breakout star. Sort of the Dr. Manhatten of the Avengers.

Cap had a few good moments: blocking Thor's hammer, giving orders to the police, and then at the end when everyone just sort of looks to him for tactics. Hulk... smash.

Thor seemed a bit out of place, which I suppose was on purpose. It just appeared like he should have been the deus ex machina of the team rather than the Hulk. In one scene Thor is going toe to toe with Stark in a stalemate, but in probably the most hilarious scene of the movie he gets sucker punched by the Hulk.

Hawkeye I thought was too forced. I didn't think he added much to the movie and could have easily been left out. Everything he contributed with the exception of getting ensnared by Loki could have been accomplished by someone else.

Black Widow was gorgeous as expected and I really like how they gave her important roles and jobs that unlike Hawkeye could not have been accomplished by anyone else. She came off as being a "superhero" while still being the weakest and most "human" of the group.

And let's be honest: Stark really did steal the show, as expected.

Overall I thought the movie could have easily been another hour long and I wouldn't have noticed.

Also, the stingers at the end were amazing.

Thoughts?

Subject: Found it!

"Found it!" Slipp yelled out. Too bad his match was almost out.

As the others were coming, Slipp looked furiously for something flammable to keep the light. Hoping to find something, he quickly hurried to get more light before his companions arrived.

Maybe that stuff on the floor is flammable? Maybe the gas will blow them all up? Maybe he should just put the match out before anyone gets hurt (chemical engineering...?)

(OOC: I realize this doesn't go to the end of the last post. More to come after a quick check)

While I appreciate you coming to us for advice, you have the grandmaster of all DM's living in your house!

Anyway I would suggest beginning with 4th edition. It's more intuitive and doesn't involve a lot of hard-core roleplaying.

You can find some great pre-generated 4e modules that do all of the hard work for you, and some even come with pre-generated characters.

Depends on how rare or common they are in your world.

If you can go down to the local ____ of protections R us, then no they don't. If an adventurer might come across a full set over the course of their career, then sure let them stack.
