11. Dart around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the theme from Mission Impossible.

I've acctually done this one.. haha They would sparatically*sp* play the Mission Impossible theme, and my Mom and I would suddenly act like spies in the middle of the store, our backs up against the isles or crouched down like we were spies with guns or something...it was funny...then when the music would stop we would act like nothing happened...haha fun times...
(hehe, Kaelyn, can you actually see my Mom doing that? haha She really did it with me! And I was a Junior or Senior in HS at the time...hehe)

anyway

Toss something with an anti-theft tag on it into a shoppers cart who was on their way out the door.

Have a female teen get in line with an adult and put a package of pads or tampons in with their stuff, and when they refuse to pay for it, have them yell, "MOM/DAD! DO YOU WANT ME TO BLEED ALL OVER THE CAR?!"

You are suddenly smart and cute. So now you have guys all over you, but you are too smart to fall for their bologna, and as such you are doomed to a life alone.

(worst thing that could happen to me aside from wroser things...is to be alone the rest of my life)

I wish I am able to save up enough money to get my own apartment/house FINALLY so my children and I will finally have a stable home, AND that I am able to be transfered to a day time position at work as I'll have no one to watch my children at night once I have my own place.

Artanis was relieved the make-shift bridge was able to get all of them out of there. She just sat near the entrance of the cave, leaning against the wall of it, listening to everything. She was glad Bart and Elesia were ok and had survived.

Kas handed Artanis one of the healing potions, which she gratefully accepted, and drank it without delay. She waited to see how well she felt before making a decision to go with Loriel and Kas.

(If she is sufficiently healed she will follow them in, and find them, and take out whatever creatures decide to cross her path. If she is not sufficiently healed, she will remain with the others, and I’ll post from there.)

Kaelyn, Don't forget the money pouch containing 88 gp, 101 silver, 47 copper, 3 falchions (as she claimed one as her own) water skin, and the copper ring. All of which she found on the initial four orcs they fought when just past the hole and axe.

If I remember correctly, the initial description of the hole was that it was a 10' hole. As such, the 12' "bridge" should fit nicely, with 1' securely holding onto each side of the hole, so long as someone will hold onto one end of it to help ensure that it does not tip or slide.

As for setting it on an angle...again I don't see a reason to need to do that, but correct me if I'm wrong, Kaelyn....?

We didn't jump the hole before. There was floor there, it crumbled beneath the tail end of the party when Moonshadow accidently tripped the trigger while walking around the blade in the middle of our way.

It's the hole that Linnix and Aleist*sp*(sorry) fell into when the ground crumbled beneath them. where they fought the spider, and we had to jump past the Axe when it started swinging again, where Kas almost got chopped in half, and where we faced our first mini-battle inside the "cave".

Ok, at the end of my last post, I said:

(OOC: If no one objects, Artanis will go ahead and start tying them together as tightly and securely as possible with the rope found. She will leaving a bit of each ladder sticking out about a foot or so on each end, that way it is longer than the 10' gap in the ground, and has something to rest on the edges of the hole with.)

So basically she will lay one flat, and the second on top of it, with about a foot sticking out on either end. Know what I mean?

Artanis proved to be too slow. She decided to let Linnix have her fun, and sat down for a bit to rest. Her eyes lit up at the site of the ladders and rope.

"Those look to be about the right size to utilize in our need leave the way we came!"

With, a bit more energy than she thought she had in her, she got up and went over to where Linnix had deposited the items.

"Perhaps we can even tie the ladders together. One on top of the other, tight and firm with this rope. In this way it will be a re-enforced make-shift bridge of sorts. So long as we each cross one at a time, I think it will work!"

She looks around to see if anyone is listening. "What do you all think?"

I changed my mind. Linnix is proficient in daggers so I think she should have it. If you don't wnt the other one, I'll take it, if you do, then you should have that one too....

That's just my opinion though. Not sure what everyone else wnts.

Subject: What me? No, I'm fine, really! :D

Her breath caught in her chest as Artanis watched the arrow shoot through the air, and it was as though time came to an achingly slow crawl.

In the span of a few seconds, Artanis watched as Linnix, Loriel, Xaris, Aelistae, and Kas each attacked the woman. Artanis looked at the woman’s face, which at a first glace appeared beautiful. But somehow it was distorted with malice. It was as though for a split second, she could see the evil hatred pass across the woman’s face. To her, the witch more resembled a dead tree, fallen and left to wrought, its bark twisted, knotted, cracked and scarred from the elements and time, than a beautiful woman. She almost felt pitty for the woman……..almost.

She was about to screamed for Xaris to look out, but before the words could properly form in her throat, the arrow whizzed by his tiny head, missing him by a mere hair’s breath, and impaled itself straight through the hand holding the wand.

Only then did Artanis release the breath that had been captive within her chest. Her hand covered her heart in relief, and a somewhat smug smile formed on her lips. Seeing that the wand was no longer a threat to her companions, Artanis could not hold herself upright any longer. She crumpled to the ground. Breathing, she realized, was suddenly very difficult. She glanced over at the shield, which lay discarded on the floor beside her. She knew that had she not had that shield for protection against the lightning bolt, she would very likely be dead. She pulled the shield closer to her, and reached out to her sword, wrapping her fingers around the hilt. She pulled the blade close to her chest, and held it against her breast.

She raised her eyes heavenward, as she lay there, “Thank you for hearing my plea in this, my time of great need, oh mighty Helm. Praise be to the god that kept my arrow straight and true!” she whispered exhausted, and utterly drained.

As Loriel approached, Artanis could not fully focus on her face, as though she were having blurred vision for a moment. She blinked a few times, then smiled as her face came into full focus "Thank you, Linnix. That is very kind of you."

After another moment of laying there, her mind cleared enough to be disgusted at her weakness. She forced herself to sit up with great effort and looked around. She wanted to make sure all her friends were alive and still kicking. She also wanted to make sure no one saw her moment of weakness.

Artanis knew Loriel was ok, as she’d just spoken with her, and could see she was scouting out the room.

As she looked about she saw that Linnix appeared to be fine. She chuckled as the woman got excited about the hidden compartment in the throne. She then saw Xaris deliver a hefty kick to the box, causing it to pop open. Artanis may be injured but her sense of humor was still firmly intact.

“They say that it’s not the size of a man that counts, but how he uses what the gods saw fit to give him, that makes all the difference. How true that is, and in more ways than one.” She thought to herself, chuckling softly.

She saw that Aelistae appeared to be fine, though Artanis found it strange that the woman was holding her sword in her hand. She paid little attention to that, however, only glad that Aelistae was alive and well.

Then she saw Kas, and frowned. She struggled to her feet, taking great effort to stand. She paused in her movements for a moment, as the room suddenly tilted at a dangerous angle, before almost bouncing back to normal. She blinked, wondering what that was, and shook her head to clear it. Once she'd regained her balance, she made her way over to Kas, and more dropped than knelt, beside her. The concern was plain to see on her face.

“You really should lay off the axes, Kas. They’re bad for your health.” She said, a rye tone to her voice, in an attempt to make the woman laugh. She wished that she were able to help, but knowing she could do nothing for her, she simply moved back to give the others room to work.

(Artanis will try her hardest to make it look like nothing is wrong as she does her part to find any loot or useful items.)

Cool with me if you get the belt, Jozan. I'd say you more than earned it!

If it's ok with everyone else, I am really interested in the dagger, and would like to have it, if no one objects.

Even as Artanis withdrew her blade from the last of the foul orcs, she was turning toward the Ogre and the fight she was prepared to join, when she saw the damndest thing. She paused for a split second, at what she saw. Though they were in the midst of a battle with the beast of a creature, she belted out a boisterous laugh.

"He actually severed the leg from its body!” she thought, “ What heart this little one has!" And Artanis was proud to fight alongside her companion.

“That’s the way, Xaris! Hack every last limb from his worthless body!” She roared as she dashed over the debris of what was formerly the barricade before running to join Xaris. “But don’t think that I’ll let yo…”

Artanis’ words froze in her throat as she heard, then turned and saw, the woman shuck off her deceiving garment, and stand tall and menacing. Evil radiated from the woman’s every pore.

“While I commend you on your sense of morality and justice. I pity you fools, for while my master moves his plan one step further to completion, you will not live to see the light of day!”

Artanis barely had time to raise her shield in an attempt to fend off the lightning bolt that suddenly shot forth from the woman’s wand. She glanced over at Xaris, and then the Ogre. She had no time to rejoice at the ogre’s long overdue demise. She was concerned for the gnome, but quickly realized she had no need to be. He was ok.

She turned to look back at the witch with a new wand in her hand; the other spent and left in ashes at the woman’s feet. She instantly dropped her shield and sword, and, drawing her bow, positioned herself to aim and shoot the woman’s hand/wrist in which she held the wand.

She sent up a prayer to the great god Helm, “By your grace and almighty power, may this arrow strike true.” An then she let it fly,

Artanis quickly raised her shield as the bolts whizzed through the air in her direction. The crackling sound earned her shield a quick glance, and an arched eyebrow at the crackling blue energy coming from two of the quartz stones.

She glowered at the massive ogre and emitted a sound, akin to a growl, when she heard his words, and saw the woman of which he spoke. She feared for what had become of the child, who was nowhere to be seen.

Artanis quickly surmised that the orcs could do considerable damage if left unattended while the group worked at bringing down the Ogre. “Dispatching the ogre will be no small feat!” she yelled, as others made for the Ogre first. “I’ll rid us of these foul orcs first!”

With that she kept her shield held in front of her as she charged the orcs, swinging her sword in (hopefully) a deadly arc at the first one she reaches, aiming specifically for it’s neck, in an attempt to sever its head from its pathetic little body.

(If that doesn’t work, she will simply hack away at it and whatever companions come her way, relying heavily on her shield to block blows, and protect herself, and her bastard sword to do the maximum damage possible, and as quickly as possible)

Artanis arched a brow at Loriel’s words, but accepted the shield with a simple, “Thank you.” She then moved forward, down the hall toward the next door.

Reaching the door on the left first, Artanis pressed her ear to the door, and listened for any sign of life. She hadn’t long to wait, as Moonshadow emitted a menacing growl, followed, soon thereafter, by a loud bark. She cursed beneath her breath at the sound of a woman’s cry, and the sound of her being struck, and silenced.

"Go now, before he can prepare!" Kas hissed at the others, not wanting to speak too loudly, and give the Orge warning of just who else was outside his door.

Artanis wasted no time in throwing the door open, her sword in one hand, the newly equipped shield in the other, and quickly took in the scene before her…..

Artanis found a few useful items amongst the dead orcs. She put the money in her money pouch and secured one of the falchions, and the water skin to her belt, the remaining three to be put in the party wealth. She placed the copper ring in a separate pouch. The human necklaces, she left where she found them, cringing at the site of them.

And so the party moved on. As they came to a couple doors, Artanis opened the door to the left. She didn’t see much in there, but the smell that greeted her proved to be unpleasant. She silently concluded the containers must hold long forgotten food.

She heard the loud creaking of the opposite door, as Xaris opened it. She turned to look inside. Loriel moved quickly and removed the strange statues of their weapons. When Loriel emerged from the room with the shield and spear, Artanis asked, “May I take the shield? I have been in the market for a good shield, and I have yet to find one. It would be of great assistance as I stand at the front ready to take on what enemies may think to overtake us, while you prove their attempts to be futile as you take them out with your excellent aim with the bow.”

What is the possibility of kind of a combo of the above choice?

Look in each door we come across, so as not to leave any enemies at our backs, but not go in and search anything in depth. Perhaps as we backtrack back out of this massive, and seemingly abandoned, and then over taken with fowl type critters, cave, we can search rooms at that time.

Like, maybe Kaelyn can point out what items we see at a quick glance, so we can make notes in our heads which rooms we would like to go back by.

My reason for saying that is that I agree with both arguments. First I thought forget the rooms, go after the women, as Jozan said. But after hearing the other argument, I agree it would be entirely BAD to leave all doors unchecked. We could make it to the chics a ton sooner, but at what cost? We could be assaulted by an onslaught of creatures, rather than having the chance to dispatched them in (hopefully) small spurts. Of course, there MAY not be anything more...but I find that increadibly unlikely concidering who the DM is.

So...what do ya'll think? Would that be a workable possibility?

Artanis staid back, and out of the way, so the healers could do their work. She said nothing of the "scratches" she had in her side. She knew others needed much more healing than that.

As she waited, she looked about and noticed the discarded bodies of the orcs. She walked over to then and one by one searched each one in turn, for any items that would be useful.

(next post will be better. I just didn't know what all to post...but I did wnt to make sure I got this in there)
