Personal Bio:
Brooke wasn’t really sure what she wanted to do with her life. All she knew, after that ‘eye-opening’ family vacation to Risa, was that she wanted to experience more of what the galaxy had to offer and she figured Starfleet was the most direct route to that goal. With that in mind, a still young Brooke started re-focusing her educational and extra-curricular goals towards a commission as a Starfleet Officer. She focused primarily on communications and psychology in college (and the Academy, for that matter) figuring that, as she was still undecided as to exactly where her career would lead, those two courses of study would provide her with the broadest spectrum of possibilities.

Upon graduation from the Academy, Brooke received her first post in Operations as a Comm Officer on the USS Crazy Horse where she served effectively and efficiently. Due to a ship-wide personnel shift, spawned by an unusually large number of transfers on and off the vessel, Ensign Llafet was reassigned to Tactical Operations. While she was initially unsure of the transfer, she quickly found a foothold in the department and found that she enjoyed her duties in TAC even more than she had OPS. As proficient as she had been as a communications officer, Brooke truly shined in the TAC department and, after a few months experience in the field, even wrote an article which held that the tactical posturing of vessels in given situations could be read much as body language. The article went on to detail the variations, similarities, and differences of these postures as they related to different cultures (based on her own experience and extensive reviews of tactical logs and records from a variety of sources).

The article caught the attention of Starfleet Tactical Command (and Jack MacTavish). Ensign Llafet was recognized and commended by TacCom and, when Jack MacTavish learned he was to become the CTO of the newly commissioned USS Discovery, he requested that she be assigned there, as well.
