Personal Bio:

Carmen was raised by a Spanish-American family who adopted her as an infant. Realizing she had no hope of being somebody should she choose to remain in Spain, she applied to Harvard and was accepted. She trained as medical personnel, later choosing the same path at Starfleet Academy, where she met and befriended Lea Blackstone.
Both were assigned as medical staff to the USS Discovery.
