D&D 3.5: Legacy of the Shade Lord

Many years ago the land was under the tight grip of the Lord of Shades, ruling from his all-seeing tower and wielding the fel blade Ur-at-nh. His death at the hands of his longtime friend was like a rebirth for the dying world. The land has begun healing, but there is much work left to do. The minions of Marellis have fractured and formed rival camps, and rumors of woe and terror abound that the fel blade is in the possession of one of his lieutenants.

This is a D&D 3.5 call to arms. Who has the courage to stand against the minions of the scion of LongShadow?

Character gen: Standard 3.5 gen, 4d6, 3 highest, reroll 1's. Background required. All characters will be in some way descended from draconic ancestry. This small amount of draconic blood is purely cosmetic as far as mechanics goes. However, it is more than enough that the Sorceror class is always available to all the players at any time. Most of the characters will only exhibit a single draconic trait: a blue streak of hair, silver scales on stomach, draconic eyes. It is unlikely, but not impossible, that a character could have any mechanically beneficial trait.

The land of the Shade Lord is in great peril, and travel between towns and cities is impossible. All characters will be in the town of Sodgrove, on the edge of the kingdom. However, this probably isn't where you are from. For this, you have a few possible options:

Bizzuks
Humans, gnomes, halflings, elves. The shining star of the world, Bizzuks is the imperial capital. There are forums and libraries and paved streets. The Shadow Dragon, Hosteratix, rules here. The libraries have been made private and the forums are closed.

Easton
Humans, elves, half-elves, dwarves. Ruled by the wight queen Antagony. Easton used to be a lovely idyllic kingdom. White walls, fancy architecture, a peaceful and pleasant place. Now it is besmirched with foul denizens, gambling, and other vices. People disappear at night.

Blackfay Marshes
The swamps. Lizard folk, halflings, half-elves, black dragons. A huge shallow lake with settlements all over. Ruled by the Dragon King, Sulphisextantus.

This will be an adventure for the hardcore, those who like the dungeons and the dragons. 5-7 players, troupe style play. If there's more interest than that, I'll think about adding more.

I just want to get a game going. Reply if interested.

Levels and Half Dragons

I usually start at level 1, but I am open to negotiation on that.

No, actual half dragons will not be allowed, although, I might allow one or two draconic traits through from that template.

And what books?

What books are allowed? Core? More? Say... Tome of Battle perchance?

And such things

The Drow / Silver mix is fine, but if you add human or some other race in too, it will be really neat. Do what you will there, although Drow above surface will be problematic at times...

I can't include the Tome of Battle. This is what I will allow:

Players Guide
DMG
Arms and Equipment
Arms and Armor
Book of Exalted Deeds
Complete Adventurer
Complete Arcane
Complete Divine
Complete Warrior
Defenders of the Faith
Deities and Demigods
Draconomicon
Fiend Folio
Frostburn
Libris Mortis
Lords of Madness
Manual of the Planes
Masters of the Wild
Races of Destiny
Races of Reknown - Halfbreeds
Races of Reknown - Drow
Races of Stone
Races of the Wild
Secret College of Necromancy
Song and Silence
Stronghold Builders Guidebook
Tome and Blood
Unearthed Arcana
Book of Vile Darkness
Heroes of Horror
Stormwrack
And of course all Monster Manual material.

Levels and such...

Well, if levels are negotiable, let me state that I'd love a mid to high level campaign... say... between 5th and 10th... somewhere in that range.

Hmmm...

Fifth level is kind of high for a start... I mean, after all, you're only one level away from leadership and two attacks and whatnot...

I can handle third. Third, you all have an extra feat, and next level you'd have a stat point.

What say you?

Complete Scoundrel?

Any chance Complete Scoundrel could make it onto the list of acceptable books? I've been thinking about making up a Paladin but I'd like to be able to pick up the Grey Guard PrC. I don't need anything else out of that book if you don't have access to it.

Hrm.

I'm sorry Deucalion... I don't have access to that book. I would not feel comfortable allowing a prC from a book I haven't read. But I don't want you to think I'm being mean or anything.

C'est la Vie

So the paladin is out. And I totally understand not letting stuff in that you've not had the chance to study.

Has Oko got back to you with what class she's thinking about? Is rogue still an available choice? If so, I'm all over that one.

Of course! =D

Plenty of room, Stryke.

Takes all the hits? Whew... That could get ugly.

And Deucalion

No, Oko's last comment was rework... so I figure she's still diligently working on her concept.

This is not going to be a formulaic party. I don't want any of you to be worrying about the other players while making your characters. If you're all bards, you're all bards. Speaking of which, an all bard party could wipe the floor with any equally leveled group; but that's something for the common thread.

Anyway, just focus on what you want to do. Rogue is perfectly cool.
