The wrath of Ike

Did anybody get any damage from Ike?

I live in Ohio and we got very high winds yesterday with gusts up to 78 mph.

There are trees down everywhere including on my garage. Our power is out because of that tree.
Lots of schools and businesses are closed and stop lights are out all over. I've never seen wind like that in my life. Very scary.

Anyhoo, I was just wondering how widespread the damage was and I hope everyone is safe.

not much here

By the time it hit Toronto, it was 50 mph winds and all it did was blow the cover off my bbq.

My thoughts are with all our members in the danger zone.

Pretty nasty, that Ike

There's widespread power outages, tons of downed trees (one on my garage... missed the house though), and all sorts of crazy stuff. Gusts of 70+ mph ripped through here for a while.

Heard from my brother (who's a lineman) last night - he's been down south (Mississippi and Louisianna) since Gustav rolled in and got sent to Texas, yesterday. He said as bad as it was in LA and MS, TX was a virtual wasteland in comparison. Soooo... as upsetting as it was to find that tree on my garage, it's nothing compared to what those folks on the Texas coast. Prayers, good vibes, happy thoughts, and lots of love for those folks.

Nothing here

Didn't get much on the East Coast, although it is a bit rainy. You chaps down there take care now, sending all my good vibes down there.

Edit: I also unfortunately read this title as "Wrath of Ikea" and was very confused.

wow...

50 mph winds in Canada? That was pretty far reaching!

People down here are buying up all the leftover summertime grills so they can at least get a hot meal... I'm lazy though I'm gonna forage at a restaurant...if I can find one I can get into! The traffic at the eateries last night was unbeleivable! Traffic jams at all the drive thrus and standing room only inside.

Wish I knew how to hunt and trap something other than a Big Mac.

Almost built and Ark

St. Louis got a TON of rain and large parts of the city were flooded. Heard most of Missouri got the same treatment. I had a few inches of water around my house for about five hours yesterday morning, such a great thing to wake up to at 8am on a weekend... lol. Got some water in my basement, coming through the windows, the garage got flooded and my car got some water in the baseboards (by the time we woke up the water was too high to move the car... lol). But didn't lose anything of any value, and our basement held up better than our neighbors, no one was hurt where I was, I've heard stories in St. Louis of tree's falling on people and people getting stranded in apt's and even one report of a couple getting washed down the street the current was so rough for a while. Lots of street's closed, power out... though I got to keep mine, thank goodness.
So yeah MO got hit pretty hard, though not as hard as they are getting hit down there. My dad is signalman with the RR and he's on his way down there to help get that back up and running...
And yeah I'm sending all my good thoughts to him and everyone else down there.
M.

Michigan

It's sunny a bit now :] but last night it rained so much! Some good wind too. "This is definately some hurricane weather".

I wonder if it had something to do with my blackout earlier.

Cute small story of retardation

I had a dog named Ike right? Cute fella, lost him a long time ago.

So I was with the family. We were concerned about the weather, and father said, "It's because of Ike.".

".....!" Like long 6 second silence. [I guess we were getting superstitious].

Forgot who:

"...Ike?"

"What did he do??"

Me: "OHH! THE HURRICANE!!"
