I am not a big Horror Movie fan, but sometimes I try to watch what I can these days. So many of these movies I haven't seen or seen fully.

I can't remember Halloween much but I really think Exorcist was WAY more nerveracking than Halloween (and I love Jamie Lee Curtis...). I've seen it like once maybe, it sticks out very well. Makes me a little afraid of becoming too mean. Hell even the word "Exorcist" is scary because of that movie.

There was a lot of complaints about the movies "Poltegeist" and "Jaws" not being in the list. What else?: "Candyman", "Phantasm", "Alien", "An American Werewolf In London", "Silence of the lambs".

Y'know, I really LIKE Jaws. I'm scared half to death when it comes to large bodies of water maybe anything aside from a bathtub, sink, etc or going underwater, but I don't give a crap because I keep watching it. Jaws is a great movie. The deaths were scary too, and needless to say especially Quint's....ugh. No I don't like the kids getting eating and bloody water but it was just well made.

Silence of the Lambs is too real...

Phantasm sounds familiar? Is that the one about the old man with his, what I call, "pet silver flying balls of stabbing-drilling doom?" and he had yellow blood?

I don't think Poltergesit scared me that much, it was fun Also, I think my mom watched it, and...::. For some reason I really like the last scene of Poltergeist with the house.

Speaking of parents, just had a cute flashback in watching "Starship Troopers" long ago. Violent action flick; Impaling deaths make me cringe, so there was one scene where one of the soldiers were gonna get stabbed in the head and have his brains sucked out, and while waiting for it, mom and I closed our eyes. While we were doing that, dad changed the channel. We're like, "HEY WAIT!" Then he changed it back, we saw a bit of the scene, and he changed it again.

Two things, why is Night of the Living Dead not higher and why do you use so many strike-outs?

I'm a huge zombie buff, so I personally like to throw them on top of every list I make, Friday the 13th ain't bad itself either. Exorcist and the original (new one is less than impressive) Halloween should definately be high up, I think exorcist a little more so though.

But now you've inspired me...need to go get these and watch them.

04 - The Shining - King wrote an amazing scary book, Kubrick made a scary movie, too bad the two aren't related. I love the ABC mini version of the book though, King has a great cameo, and the guy from Wings plays Jack, which was a little odd at first, but does a good job 03 - Psycho - Not scary while I watched it, but... I HATE all white bathrooms in hotels, and will always paint my home bathrooms due to this movie 02 - The Exorcist - Have to say this one is pretty creepy too, mainly because it involves a child... 01 - Halloween

So I commented on the ones I've seen, the rest I need to get around to watching. I am a little suprised IT didn't make the cut, Pennywise is pretty scary.

There are of course hundreds and hundreds more... but I think I'll continue my personal marathon of scary/evil movies with Name of the Rose tonight. Medieval murders with blackened fingers and tongues and lots of blood, not to mention a witch burning and Sean Connery

I RECCOMMEND not watching if:
- It's late at night
- You're hemophobic or don't like blood or maybe the color red, especially if it gushes/squirts
- Foaming, spilt bowels
- Just don't stomach deaths or horror movies in particular
- Weird noises that resembles cracking, crunching/breaking bones hissing or something liquid-like
- You feel that some of these scenes might happen
- You don't like suspense
- Ugly looking monsters/people
- Don't like kids getting traumatized
- Anyone/anything getting impaled, cut into pieces, decapitated, etc.
- Men and especially woman screaming in intense pain
- You just don't like what you're reading
- You're eating
There's foul language of course.

Also, I'm gonna spoil you a bit just to get you a fair warning of the scenes.

1.) Oh yeah, "Phastasm" was the movies with the creepy old man and the evil floating silver spheres of drilling/stabbing doom. The death at 7:00 really sticks out the most to me. Yikes. The 3rd scene isn't nice at all. I think Zombie deaths are alright :] and I'm always afraid of the Hellraiser, although he has some great makeup HR deaths are always painful looking.

I'll have to take a look at those when I'm not at work... somehow I think that might actually get me fired. lol.
If your into fascinating death scenes I mentioned Anamorph in the movie thread, but it deserves another mention here. That killer is messed up! You only see the aftermath, but that's enough.
And I will give props to Snakes on a Plane here too. They come up with some fascinating ways to kill off the characters with and without snake involvement. And of course Samuel L. Jackson is always friggin awesome. The movie sucks in general, but it is worht watching for the laughs...

Anamorph was a film my husband found randomly for me. It's in the Silence of the Lambs genre, investigator chasing a serial killer... It came out last year. It stars Willem Dafoe. And the serial killer is really twisted.

Not sure I'd agree with all of AOL's picks on this list, by the way... I mean "The Ring"?... Disturbing... yeah... Weird... yeah... Scary or horrifying? Not... had to watch that thing three times before I managed to stay awake through the whole flick.

Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street? The first movies of each series were what I'd call scary (maybe even Friday the 13th part 2) but, after that, just so much 'cheese' and 'gore'... no real horror or anything... great splatter films, sure, but not scary.

Actually, I'm sitting here, now, trying to figure out exactly when blood and guts trumped suspense and creepiness for "must haves" in horror movies... hmmmm... oughta look into that... mebbe write a thesis or something...

One of my personal 'favorites' in the realm of Scary flicks:

"Near Dark" - Again, not really a jump and flinch fest as far as horror movies go, but a really cool vampire flick nonetheless. Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton kind of 'steal the show' from the main characters in this one, too, but it's worth a rental. Produced and released in the late 80s or early 90s I think...
Worth a watching at least once.

Is also very amazing.
Gave me the willies with those teeth he had in Sleepy Hollow.

Not like true -horror- film, but another obscure film that was really good and has Walken in it is Scotland PA. He's actually a good guy for a change, but delightfuly funny. Well not to spoil it but the way the restaurant owner dies probably tops my list of ways I would hate to die.

I don't know what got me into Sleepy Hollow do I like the Headless Horseman? but I really liked it! Watched it when I was way way way less into horror movies. And Walken is crazy (lol).

...anyone remember him in "The Dead Zone"? Like most movies based on Stephen King's stories, the movie didn't quite hold up to the book but (like Pet Semetary) it came pretty close... another not necessarily scary movie, too, but definitely kind of mindbending.

Actually, I think that's the first movie I remember seeing Walken in, now that I think about it...

He was really good in that. Of course the scissor scene always kind of over powers the rest of my memories from that film.
You know I've never been able to get through that book, tried several times, just kept loosing interest. *shrug* Read the Shining like six times, but can't get through the Dead Zone.
Tis only a small part really but I gotta say I think the bit Walken did in Pulp Fiction is probably one of his all time best. How he did that scene with a straight face is still beyond me.
And then there was that music video he did dancing all over the place, which he really can do, was big on broadway for a long time... He's so cool.
