So...

I laid out some suggestions on what to do next IC.

Personally, I like the following idea:

Treasure hunting! Let's see if we can find this wizard's tower and pillage it! WAY easier than solving this village's problems. Plus, maybe we'll find clues along the way to this greater mystery.

Otherwise, back into town, I suppose. See if someone will connect with us.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS FOR THE DM:

1) Does the Abbot know where we can find information concerning this mystery diety that the witch worshipped?

2) Is there a map available that shows any the geography off the coast? i.e. nearby islands and such?

3) How close are the nearest settlements/ villages/ towns from this village?

Think that is it for now.

answers

1) The Abbot says there is a very old scroll that lists the dieties worshipped in the world. You could see if you could find it (search check).

2) You find a really old sea map, used by sailors, who marked some sandbanks (I think is the word) and dangerous rocks off the coast, but no islands big enough for living purposes.

3) The next settlement is at least a week's worth of traveling away from the village. The same in the other direction, with the abbey being an exception.

ok

It takes you guys another hour of searching together to find the list of Gods.

Cliffhanger... I'll have to post it later, since I HAVE to go right now.

edit:

Gods that might be of interest are:

Major Dieties: Cardista - Goddess of the Sea
Thadril Anskar - God of Storms & Pride
Kith-Jora - God of Nature

Minor Dieties (most of them forgotten nowadays): Salimontao - Goddess of Fish
Gubulondil - God of the Current
Freskid - God of the Tides
Neveeral - Goddess of the Beach

I am risen from Death by Taxes and game to play on

LOl, I take a day or two out to do taxes, mine and my mothers and DM hers (I was frazzled because I lost a bunch of stuff I needed at end of March in a computer virus attack that left me to wipe out my hard drive. and hadn't been able to replace all the data. so I ended up frazzled for days and finally filed for an extension for us al)l and look a what is happening here behind my back.

Good ideas Ayrn. I too think that we need to investigate that wizards tower once we are back to the village, but finding out information especially of the names of a sea deities is where we are right now that and any other information that might be available. Almerin will have to tell me that what we found basically what there is to be found. and there is no corroborating stories that give more information her in the abbey.

yes

This is all the information you can find on the topics you've searched, with the searchcheck I rolled for you all. A lower check would've given you less, a higher check might've given you more. But there's no second chance for this, since that's how the game works.

In short: yes, this is all our heroes find.

So... where to people?

Does the information regarding the Seas Deities change much? Should we look to speak to the druid again now?

I believe Almerin is looking for some direction on where we go next.

Personally, my vote is still on searching out the wizard's tower for starters and seeing where it goes from there.

What do you all say?

(p.s. I hope to post Sunday late night)

Away...

Well, I'm away from Thursday until next Tuesday. Not sure about the internet connection during this period, so probably next Wednesday before I post again.

Haha!

I see an update from Almerin has been posted! Yay!

Sadly, it turns out that it led us nowhere.

At least the villagers are a bit more friendly!

So... where to now folks? If you haven't figured it out yet, this is the joy of Almerin's games --> zero railroading means we gots to do a lot of the thinking ourselves.

Personally, I'm not sure what to do next. But here are some thoughts:

1) Befriend the innkeeper maybe and draw out information from him over time.

2) Try to be helpful and sacrificial to the village in the day to day work of their lives so that they begin to trust us and we might inspire them to also follow us (or at least, inspire them to change their own destiny with a little help from us). Maybe the Syl cleric could set up a "health clinic" in the village for a bit. Driscoll could help out with some general labour. A number of us could provide "entertainment" in the evenings at the inn (Songs, stories, "magic tricks", etc).

3) Seek our the sea elf druid guy again... though I'm not sure what we'll gain from that. I have a funny feeling that he won't be anymore helpful.

4) Explore the area around the village and look for where these lizard-men-creatures are living. Maybe the villagers know? (I think the sea druid knows, but, again, I don't think he'll tell us out right.)

5) Leave. This seems the easiest, and may be in line RP-wise with Driscoll's character... though, as a player, not so rewarding.

The options I am leaning towards are #1,2, and 4... maybe a combination of the three of them.

What are some other ideas that you all have?

QUESTIONS FOR THE DM:
1) What are the main types of work in the village? There's a blacksmith. Farmers? Fishers? Berry-pickers? How do people "make ends meet" in this village?

2) Do they get a lot of travelers come through (by land or sea)? Or is the inn more of a pub for the locals?

3) Who's "in charge" of the village?

It may be that some of these things we need to discover IC (i.e. #2/3), and that's cool... a simple answer of "You don't know, yet" will suffice.

Thanks, Almerin.

ENCOURAGEMENT TO ALL: Don't let the fact that you don't know what to do discourage you from posting. Just post an idea for a course of action even if you're not sure it will lead us anywhere.

For example, I had my doubts that looking for the magic sword would actually result in us finding it. My hope was we'd discover some clues about our really mystery while we searched.

While I don't feel we discovered any real clues yet, what we did find out from Almerin's post is that the villagers seem a lot less hostile to us now that the "Tithe Time" has passed by and they know that we didn't meddle in their affairs. I feel more confident now in talking with them and more hopeful that they will be a little more loose-lipped around us.

Let's keep up the posts. Once per week at least. Twice per week if we can.

Even if you don't know what to post, at least a simple post here to the Q/A board that says something like, "Not sure what to post..." or "Don't know what to do next.." or "Here's an idea, what do you think...". This way Almerin knows that at least we've still around and interested in the game.

Looking forward to hearing some responses to my suggestions up at the top!

Thanks,
Ayrn

ah

Don't jump into conclusions too fast, Ayrn. I'm usually not one for giving hints, but perhaps you guys have some skills that can be of use in exploring the remains of the wizard's tower?

As for your questions:

1) work in the village: fishing, sheep-herding, some farming, net-and-boat-repair. There is a smithies, but that hasn't been really active in some time. People don't own a lot of horses, and the iron that is being worked is usually the smaller stuff that exists on the boats.

2) The inn is more of a local pub. There are rooms, and you can guess they do get travelers from time to time, but the coastal path is not a very busy one, as you've noticed in your going back and forth. So far, you haven't met anybody else traveling along the coast in this part of the dunes.

3) Who's in charge is a good question. So far, nobody has been identified as a leading figure. But that's something to find out IC.

new player

We have a new player in our midst. Mephistopholes will be introducing Aldagen the Sylvari ranger shortly. As I said in the recruitment, he'll be there as if he has always been a part of the group.

Welcome!

Hmmm, interesting

I do have a question Using a religion check is there anything I can figure out about the symbol on the top of the sword box.

As part of my character I have mentioned about a family heirloom lost many many years ago with an close ancestor of mine. Of course due to Sylvari longevity that can be many hundreds of years ago.

Anyway I named the sword the Sword of Light and as player found it interesting about the sun symbol on the front. because what it was was a Brilliant energy sword/

Just wondering and of course knowing you it will be a matter of finding out,

Thanks!

Well, I've caught up on the old posts in the topic. I'm definitely excited about getting going. My characters submitted for review.

So, I'm curious. Who's actually still active in the story? This is the second change of cast, isn't it?

who's active

The active players are all that are listed in the first post of this Q/A, except CAssandra, who has not replied to my question of activity yet.

Brianna, a religion check doesn't reveal anything. It might just be that sword, but apperently, you DO know me
