Gestalt Game Tabletop

Ok, so my tabletop group is doing something a bit differently. We are having a longtime friend and occasional player from another city come in to our group to run an experiment for a paper he's writing.

He has asked another group for whom he occasionally DMs to run an evil adventure, where the party is dropped from a dragon and told to take over the town. My group is running the exact same scenario. The other group is told to be deceitful, tactful, very roleplay heavy, and try to take it over through subterfuge and a moderate amount of violence.

My group is asked to do the opposite, with maximum violence and little interaction with the residents.

He'll time us both in game and number of sessions, each playing weekly for about 6 hours and see who is more successful.

We are 7th level evil (not sure about going neutral), 3.5 Gestalt, anything goes from any printed material. He is a very hard DM in terms of campaign difficulty. We're expected to gain a few levels over the course of the game, but we don't know how many. We are allowed two free level adjustments and two free hit die. We are also allowed two flaws, traits, and anything else from UA.

Keep in mind he uses ridiculously tough enemies, so he encouraged us to be ready to take anything.

So far in our party of 4 we have a swordsage/illusionist that is basically a guy who can hide extremely well and cast phantasmal killer with a scary save DC.

We also have a warmage/warblade, who is our primary damage dealer and tank.

I am thinking going something like dread necromancer/warlock and maybe eldritch theurge with some of the sick charisma boosting templates and such. I don't know what our fourth guy will bring, but he has come up with some crazy psionic and arcane builds in the past.

So basically, I need your help. With any available material and 14 levels (and 2 LA and 2 HD) to play with, I can't really think of a place to start. I have played just about everything in the past, and this has become more of a challenge to come up with the craziest and most powerful build. I'm looking at a monk/swordsage or maybe a hulking hurler build, or a suicide charger.

Any help is appreciated!

So, your goal’s just to destroy the town?

If so, then you might be better off going after the things that make life there viable, rather than picking off its inhabitants one by one. Poison the wells, kill off their livestock and use fire elementals to destroy as much of the town’s infrastructure as possible at no risk to yourselves.

Alternatively, if reinforcements seem likely, you might just want to destroy it all in a single assault. It might be worth investing in builds or magic items that will allow your characters to just keep killing and blitz the place in a session or two.

Do “vampiric” rings and weapons still exist in 3.5? (If I remember correctly they were items in 2nd ed. That allowed a character to regain 1 hp for every 10 he dealt in melee combat.) Create an all-melee party (to avoid worrying about spells and other finite resources) and be sure to go after a bunch of helpless civilians and domestic animals after every real fight. If nothing else, there’s bound to be a few isolated farms and hamlets surrounding the place that you can mine to regain health.

It might also be worth having a few contingencies in mind to allow for immediate escape when required. The DM’s bound to have a few unpleasant surprises in store to throw at you in play.

Doesn’t really sound like a game that I’d enjoy playing in, but each to their own. Good luck, and be sure to tell us how it goes!

The goal is to take over the town, not really destroy it. So we can't go in guns blazing. Besides, it's a big enough town that they could easily overpower us if we get too crazy. We have to be smart about it.

I suggest you do something like Pun-Pun here. Gestalt would do it even easier.

That said, severely unfun most likely.

Hmm, okay then…

Here’s Take 2:

Spend a bit of time about town first, socialising with people and scouting out the lie of the land. You’ll probably want to adopt a group persona for this to avoid drawing too much attention to yourselves. And use this as a time to rack up as many brownie points with the local townsfolk as possible.

Identify the people in your way (current mayor and city councillors etc) along with anyone who seems likely to cause you problems later on and set about destroying them as discreetly as possible. A magic-user with charm and invisibility spells could prove quite handy here, as could a skilled thief. Plant evidence of corruption at the mayor’s office, charm/brainwash a few children at the orphanage to claim that the local paladin molested them and so on. If there’s a way to circumvent “Detect Lie” and similar spells in 3.5 then it could come in really handy here.

I’d be torn between keeping a low profile to avoid drawing attention to yourselves at this stage, and posing unabashedly as a group of moral crusaders exposing the indecency and corruption of the ruling establishment (which could make any attempts to “expose” your group highly problematic). The long-term game plan should be racking up sufficient renown in the area that your group seem the obvious choice to fill the shoes of the people that they’re taking down.

ok.. Taking the best from two classes...You're looking for a munchkin character that's going to be able to hold their own should the dung hit the gnomish air dispersal units rotary blade as it were.

That stated, and being evil to boot. You'll want a character that can deal massive amounts of damage while being able to look out for one's primary interest... Themselves. a Monk's awesome saves, decent Hit points, and incredible versatilty is a must, and by seventh level your wholeness of body kicks in I believe... cha-ching. Throw in your other 7 levels in a class that takes advantage of similar or other light/ unarmored increases to your AC, such as a swashbuckler, Rogue, Brawler or Green Ronin's 'Black Talon Deciple', and you'll find yourself adding Dex, Wis, and Int to your AC, coating yourself in poisons in which you're immune delivering them upon touch. With the freedom of any printed material upgrades, you can take things like Improved Natural Attack, multiple times even as it stacks via MM and Savage Species rules. You're little monk can be easily swinging for d12's if not higher, throwing in your debilitating stunning fists via sneak attacks, delivering poison attacks, and a whole lot more.... Just a thought off the top of my head.

EDIT: When in doubt... Proclaim yourself a lost God returned and disintegrate babies and mass dominate the populous of coastal towns feeding them as a walking buffet to your lycanthropic wolven friend... oh wait.. you're not quite high enough level for Valerian-style evil hehe.
