wait...

you're 26 right...so you had to be born in 1981, maybe 1980. If you're talking about the Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, it was in theatres in 1980 (and again in 81 i believe). I checked that on IMDB. You wouldn't have even been 1 year old... O_o right?

Oh...

I guess I just showed what I nerd I'm not. I was about to correct you, when I googled it and saw that Empire Strikes Back is the second one. I was thinking of Return of the Jedi...

I suppose now we let the smiting commence. I deserve it.

<><><>

I have a lot of early memories but would be hard pressed to figure out which ones are the oldest.

The one I remember most vividly is my mom telling me that a German Shepard had stolen my bottle. I believed that until I was in my 20's!!

I remember when I was two, I was standing in my living room. Watching my mother cradle my baby brother. That's all I remember...must have stood out for some reason. I dunno...

Earliest memory...

I was about 2 yrs and 6 months old, and I was locked in a closet for roughly 6 hours (by my mother's account) a day for around 6 months with no light in a Day Care facility run by the State of Arizona. When my mother and other parents found out this, the Day Care was sued, and every parent who had ever left their child there had every cent of their money refunded. My mother got double for the mental trauma inflicted on me.

Ever since, I have been claustrophobic, with the exception of vehicles and elevators.

I can see how that might alter your perceptions a bit.

Birthday party

I remember celebrating my sister's first birthday in our duplex in Montreal. She'd been sick all day, and it was hot in the house, so she was in her high chair, wearing just a onesie, looking bewildered and miserable as we sang Happy Birthday. It switched to delight pretty fast when she got a piece of cake though

I would have been a few months away from my third birthday, and while I think I may have earlier memories (standing in a field at my great-uncles' farm in Mitchell, Ontario), I'm not sure if they are true memories, or memories of photographs from family albums. Being the oldest, there are lots of pictures of me when I was little, a fair amount of my middle sister and very few of my youngest sister And yes, (because I can almost hear my daughter asking) we did have photography when I was a little girl...electricity, too!

hmmmmmm

I remember like five scenes at my parents' old apartment. I moved out of there a few days after I turned one, so it had to be sometime before that. Maybe it was that ugly orange shag carpeting and green couches.

I remember when

I was about 4 and my father had to replace the "Sump Pump". It involved digging out part of the basement an then re-cementing it afterwards. My dad had myself and my sister Joanne put our handprints in the cement and write our name and age under them. I still remember doing that to this day.

Last I heard, the house is now a Vet's office and the handprints are still there (my sister still lives in the old town).

neat

that's a cool story, Al.
when i was a kid i would bury things in the ground in my yard, and promise myself that i would go back and dig in that spot to see if it was there in the future. Or I would leave cool things in the ground for the next people to find when they moved in. Like a box with things in it. I've never gone back to find anything, of course.

Oh yeah

I've done that too believe it or not, in the front yard of the second house I lived in.. Mama was so mad when she saw I'd dug up her lawn.. I called it my time capsule because I'd seen something like it on Wish Bone or somethin or other... the littl kid's show with the fox terrier in it? Anyways.. I've never gone bakc to see mine, either.
