Evil Campaign in the works: Looking for 5 players seriously interested in traversing a world full of tomfoolery and shenanigans. No good alignments will be allowed and true neutral only on a case by case basis. This will be in 3.5e Forgotten Realms setting. I am still open to requests for this to be on the surface or the Underdark.

Think of this as an audition. Please post here, or PM to me, either a back-story you have created for a character in the past that you are particularly proud of, or even a made up excerpt from a nonexistent game.

I am open to creativity so please surprise me.

I haven't DMed a game in a while so this may start out a little slow as I am getting my barrings. You can let me know what you are available for as well as far as commitment and time that is available. That will help in the planning of things.

Any race that is found in the world of Forgotten realms can be used but not all may be appropriate for the setting of the game. For example a duragar wont mix well in a drow house feud unless he has the right connections but there is no guarantee. Hence I would like to know if anyone has a preference to Underdark or surface. Then I can let you know race restrictions.

Beyond that I don't know yet because some things have yet to be determined. That's why I am waiting on you all to post before finalizing any thing.

In case you are worrying your "audition" piece will not be the toon you play for this game. I just want to see peoples past experience with building a character. I'm new enough to RDI that I don't know most of you so I want a rough idea who has a grasp for this kind of thing before I say yeah sure join the ranks of evil with us. Sorry I wasn't explicit enough on that the first time around.

Would book of vile darkness be allowed too, seeing as this is evil?

Yes but please run it by me so that I can make sure to keep myself educated as well on what specifically you are wanting from the book. Basically if you are taking something from anything other then the core books then please site it in your character build so that I will have an easier time referencing it.

Also if I don't hear from anyone soon on a location preference then I will simply choose and post later this weekend the starting for the game. I'm getting to a point now where I need to have that decided before I can continue my preparations.

Its looking more and more like this will be Drow based unless there are any strong objections. So far its been one yes and one with no preference.

Location and Race: Because we are at a draw for topside and the Underdark, and because I want to start writing soon, I have decided that the surface version of my story is the way to go. Surface side there is a wide variety of races (including drow) that can be used. Any race that is found in the forgotten realms and can plausibly be found in the starting NPC’s household is open and available. Just remember that in-world prejudices will be taken into account.

Starting Level: Everyone will start out with an ECL 3. (I.e. as a drow you begin at level one because of the character level adjustment.)

Ability Scores: I am using the point buy as outlined on page 169 in the DMG. You all have 50 points to spend. However you are only allowed one 18 in your base score (before modifiers).

Money: The amount you start with will depend on the class you start with. Please PM me once your class is chosen and I will respond with how much that your character has to start purchasing personal items with. I will not put any restraints on how much money you can spend on one item just remember this is an evil game so putting all your eggs in one basket, so to speak, could be dangerous to your health. You might break out in a bad case of death sooner then you anticipated.

Books: To start out the PHB, PHB II, DMG, & DMG II are open, also the player’s guide to Faerun if you have it at your disposal. Because this is an evil game you may use feats from BofVD but please let me know in advance what you have chosen to use. As you level I will open up more of the book for you to use however for starting out I will not let you raid the whole candy store.

At each level that you gain a feat I will let you choose another book for your character to open up. Yes that means that a fighter will have the option in the long run to have more books available to them than say a barbarian. If you are able to start a prestige class on a level that you don’t gain a feat please let me know what it is you plan to do and I will let you open the requisite book to begin your prestige class. However if you gain a feat at the same level that you can begin a prestige class I will not let you open two books.

If a class that you wish to start out with is not in the starting 5 books that are open you may use 5 points from your ability score point buy in order to open the requisite book you will need for a different class.

Beginnings of a plot hook: You have all been commissioned by the head of a certain noble household to do a job. How and why your individual characters are in that room at that time is up to you to build into your back story. My opening post will give you a good idea what kind of man you are involved with. If you have additional questions please feel free to PM them to me. Also I would like to keep your back stories just between you and me for starters, unless you choose to have your character be someone that is known for their treachery. In which case what is known is more rumor and hearsay then truth. What I want to know is the truth behind the rumors, and I will be sure to post the rumors for all to be familiar with.
I will try to be sure to communicate with you regularly if I want to use part of your back story to help with plot hooks, embellishments, and added difficulty level. But I am human and will make mistakes from time to time. I love collaborating and feel that together we can have the best outcome.

A standard for us all to play by: If I have done something to upset you or that you simply cannot understand then PM me first before airing your grievances with me publicly. I will respect you in the same way. Otherwise feel free to use the Q&A thread for clarification and questions as it is intended. Even though I am running an evil campaign I am not the kind of DM that wants to screw over their players. IRL I try to be a fair and thoughtful person, just do not expect my NPC’s to agree with me.
