Ultimate party trick

Although Damocles had been in the Sharn City Watch he had never seen a changeling change before, nor one as ferrell as this. He had assumed he was some sort of subspecies or lesser form but this savage beast was definitely intelligent dissipate his bloodlust.

"I think I prefer the orange hair but the brown skin" He said definitely shocked but not off guard.
"But don't threaten the kid though." His hand resting low on his baldric. He was still unsure about the green, and now orange, haired changeling.

Halloween

"You! Kid, I'd be worrying more about growing pains and awkwardness before you should worry about baubles. What do you think this ring means?"
He smiled, knowing the man ineffectively covering his armor would want to speak more on his race.

"I think I prefer the orange hair but the brown skin" Beau giggled at the comment."But don't threaten the kid though."
His smile dropped at the last comment. First he spoke to the man in armor. "An ally in battle is not someone you need to protect."
He then turned to the changeling who looked something like a halloween candy...wait, what's halloween? "And I can tell you that ring is more than a symbol of status." He shrugged and leaned back in his chair, drinking the last of his milk.

Preferences and Status.

"I think I prefer the orange hair but the brown skin"
Eleak changed back to mossy green hair and a deep brown skin. "Well, it's a good thing it doesn't really matter what you prefer on me, does it? I do this to be more like the nature which I revere."
"And I can tell you that ring is more than a symbol of status."
Eleak looked at the kid. "You know what kid? You're pretty observant. This ring is a promise. A promise to nature. One I'll be keeping."

"So you two are signing up for this too eh? What's your reason?"

Nice

Damocles was please that the changeling hadn't responded to his comment or physical action so he indicated to Ailinel to bring a drink over for himself. Turning to the boy and changeling he made his apologies.

"I'm sorry, I have precious little gold as it is so I'd like enough left for when we survive whatever we've put ourselves in for."
"So you two are signing up for this too eh? What's your reason?"
"I'm not a mercenary but I am a blade for hire, I normally guide people around Sharn but if my nation needs my help in it's defence then I have to answer it. We are the gateway to the East, if Breland falls then the rest of Khorvaire is at risk."
Over the ale, brought to him by Ailinel, Damocles asks your names.
"I'm Damocles Dlilith by the way, ex-Sharn City Watch at your service. Can I have your names please?"
And he throws back his head taking a long gulp as if drowning something in his throat.

"I'm Damocles Dlilith by the way, ex-Sharn City Guard at your service. Can I have your names please?"
Beau stood up from his chair at the introduction. "I'm Smith," and he extended a hand for Damocles'. "But you're lying." he said briefly to the changeling, immediately changing the topic, "Still, I want to know the promise was if you don't mind."
He waited for an answer and then answered the question asked. "And I'm just one of those adventurers you hear so much about. I'm looking for some warriors and I figure a battlefield is the best place to find them."

Name.

"I'm Damocles Dlilith by the way, ex-Sharn City Watch at your service. Can I have your names please?"
Eleak stood silent for a while. He eyed the man and the boy up and down. They were two odd individuals, but then again, he guessed he was too. But still... Maybe they had proved themselves worthy... Well, here goes nothing. "I'm Eleak."
"But you're lying." he said briefly to the changeling, immediately changing the topic, "Still, I want to know the promise was if you don't mind."
Eleak let out a hiss at the boys comment about his truthfulness. "Calling me a liar eh boy? I suppose you know all about that, don't you? I'm no liar, and my promise is to make sure that nature in all it's glory is treated with respect, something other people seem to be sorely lacking. Those monsters being one of those kinds of people. Which is why I'll be killing them."
Eleak's eyes turn into vertical, catlike slits, and he brings his hands back, revealing his nails to be much sharper than normal, and long like animalistic claws.

Tooth and claw

For some reason Smith and Eleak were knocking sparks off each other, this is not possible good. He was satisfied with the names and intrigued by Smiths reasons but perhaps now was not the best time. He decided to take a step back in the conversation to let Smith answer this affront.

The boy's got skillz

Beau nodded in respect to the changeling. "That ring has nothing to do with nature. If it did, it'd be made of wood or something." He muttered very quietly to himself "faint abjuration." and followed it with "a ring of protection is magical, not exactly natural."

Or...

Eleak held up his hand, his palm showing to the boy, spreading his fingers wide, allowing the boy to get a good look at his ring. The ring was engraved with leaves.

"Or, it would have these engravings. As for being natural, it is using the natural materials from the earth is a respectful way. That is the proper use of nature. And it does give me protection, so that I may serve it better.
Eleak's eyes stayed slitted, staring hard at Smith. If he was anything, Eleak was honest, and tied to nature. Nobody would challenge that.

Beau smiled looking at the ring. "See that's my kind of nature lover. Nice to meet you Eleak."

Hmm, yes, hmm not bad, hmm needs to put on some weight, well. The splendid looking Human with the wide Brim hat, seems to be glancing, an takeing measure, of those who signed on. Oh, yep a bit to slow, ah, a changeling. What a great scout to have on ones team. Interesting.

Sits with his drink, an relaxes while still listening an watching others in the inn interact. An glances to the door every once in a while.

Trust in battle

Having listened to Dron, Damocles would have to disagree. It's better to get arguments over before the battle so your judgement isn't clouded. But Dron's questions were good, it was cirtaint that more information was needed. There was no way that running in blind would win as they could find themselves outnumbered, out flanked without rations or transport, without so much which could end up in them being left without their lives.

"I'd have to disagree with you about saving our wit, it's best to get arguments over before the battle so you can trust your allies and so your allies can trust you and know you don't hold any grudges. But blades are best saved for the battle."
Damocles turns to the mercenary and follows Dron's questions with ones of his own. Not a man from a military background but he still understands the need for transport and rations.

"How are we getting to the Greywall Mountains? We're at least 300 miles away, and what's the terrain and weather like? Are we going to be fighting on flat windy platos at the peaks or in the valleys between them?"

Those Wits

With out logistics, an good leadership, this battle, will not fair well, for us. An the rest of the East. Will any of the heros of the Great War be joining Breland, or the Mercenary forces? Dron(thinks of some of the heros, hes heard of in Breland.
