For Grugg, it's Christmas every day

By the way, what is a Bladesinger?

Bladeslinger

The bladesinger is a concept that appears in a few fantasy games and novels. It is an elven warrior who has intergrated magic and fighting with a long sword into one perfect warrior type.

hmm

Interesting.

Speaking of which, why is the world which the comic's characters play in not Audalis? I think it is too big part of RDI not to include it in the comic.

If it is, why on earth have I not noticed it?

heh

You missed it. They DO play in Audalis. However, the references have been subtle - no mention yet of the word "Audalis".

Strip #2: Amy wants to play a Chindari ranger. The Chindari are a nomadic human race in western Antaron.

Strip #6: Ray's character is a Drannese knight. The empire of Drannon is one of the "five kingdoms" of Antaron.

Strip #6: Amy references the Chindari again, and includes some of their language and terms in her background.

Strip #6: Rich's character is a cleric of Solanis, the Audalis deity of light and life.

Strip #6: Brad's character is a Sylvari bladesinger. While bladesingers are not necessarily unique to Audalis, the fact that he refers to his character as a "sylvari", rather than an "elf", is a giveaway.

heh

I realized it during the Drannon/Solanis strip, but the chindari completely went over my head.

When I ran my most successful Audalis tabletop game it started in Drannon, which unlike the Canon was a completely ruined and half-razed husk of a country, with cities turned to rubble and pretty much every citizen living in poverty and squalor.

Going to be fun to see how canonical Steve keeps the setting or if he branches out.

Steve is like me, so he'll probably stick very close to canon - unless the players irritate him so much that he feels the need to deal with them harshly.

Or if he's having a bad day and just needs a quick random encounter.

Poor Brad...

He seems to be fast becoming the Meg Griffin of the group.

Also, IIRC the Bladesinger was one of the more unbalanced kits out there (the Audalis may well differ here). Could it be that he's finally learning how to min-max properly?
