Loaded Dice: Strip #16

Strip #16 is now up. As always, comments, discussion, and criticism are all welcome.

This actually happened... I could not believe the mage's character wanted to do this, but it was pretty funny.

I liked this one. I love it when stuff like that happens.

One of the tabletops I'm in right now we get more annoyed with each other then with the enemy sometimes.

My character, a very talkative halfling, often gets zone of silence cast over her so the other adventurers can get rid of the ringing in their ears. It has been useful a few times though, she's good at getting past guards who will do anything to get her to shut up and leave them alone.

Loved the spell effect. Also, this is a good plan against another PC who you think is annoying. Just Charm him/her to shut up/stop running out of hiding into battle/killing innocents/poking dead guys/what have you. I will remember this one next time I play a spellcaster

I’m surprised that no one’s hit on the more obvious solution yet…

Party: “Please stop doing that. You’re going to get us all killed.”
Problem Player: “Hey! I’m just playing my character.” (And as far as he’s concerned, getting what he wants is more important than keeping your characters alive.)
Party: “Okay, you do that. We’re staying right here. Have fun.”

“I’m just playing my character” is all very well, but it can create situations where the rest of the group have absolutely no reason to back up (or hang around with) the dangerous maniac who’s perpetually landing them in hot water beyond the fact that he’s a PC.

In my experience, dealing with these kind of situations OOC is probably better than using magic to mind-control the offending character (which can create some serious bad blood) … but that wouldn’t make for anywhere near as entertaining a comic.

Conflic of intrests...

When players conflict it can be a hassle. As someone stated above, the party can split up, and the cleric can continue to do what his background dictates. The problem becomes how survivable is a party without that player. Worst case here is that if the pc decides to continue and the cleric gets himself killed, the party is then trapped in a dungeon with lots of undead and no healing or turning. A very bad situation.

A compromise can be the best solution. What is best for the party that also will satisfy the needs of the character. Obviously here the priest has forgotten the primary focus of the party being here is to wait out the storm. 'A let's just get through this and you can notify your temple in the next town we pass through may have sufficed.'

Failing these.. The B.A. Barachus (A-team) plan could work too..(knock him out and drag him Back to a safe area) but... 'I pity the fool!'

I don't know if its the case

You have no idea how many times my old tabletop group cast hold person on my friend's rogue.

LOL

Okay... in 'Olan's thoughts...' "I love the way Jhim looks when he's casting his spell."

Gotta agree with ya there, boss... Artwork was way cool on the spell effects, but I've gotta say that I loved the way Jhim looked after the spell casting...

P.S. You likey? You votie!

Hehe.... ha.

That's pretty funny. I 'd when Jhim just totally backfired Rich's comment. It was also funny with the charm spell. "Did you just use a spell on me?". Pretty funny.

Good job!
