sigh

why must I be drawn to playing squishy characters? Oh yeah it's so I can know more inside info than the rest of you. Inside info I tried to work with without giving too much away.
Hope you enjoy the long post.

Specialist schools

This is how it works for you.

Your specialist school choice (for you is transmutation) receives a +1 DC. This stacks with things like Spell Focus: Transmutation and Greater Spell Focus: Transmutation. So for, say, a Slow spell cast by you, the victim has to make a save at DC 14+ your int bonus, instead of 13+.

There are two schools that are forbidden to you... these represent what you gave up to focus on transmutation. I think you picked them already, but I'll have to look.

Every time you gain a level that opens you up to a new spell level, you get one extra preparation of a spell of your chosen school. So you get the normal spells per day out of the players guide, plus one extra per day per level you can cast, but only of your chosen school. Plus when leveling, any wizard gets to pick two spells out of the book to take of any level they can cast, but you get one extra of the school you specialize.

I hope that makes sense.

In light of recent information

What Kilton said about the gods was something very close to heresy in some religions. This made me wonder and I realized why no one said anything was because I have made little mention of the deities. This may be what kept anyone from choosing cleric. Now I have more time to write, I think I'll do so. I will make a short list and highlight their major personalities.

The House of Quilestra Quilestra - The Dragon God, the Scintillating Dragon. The only known true deity. Represents all alignments and all things draconic. Omnipotent and omnipresent. Can manifest across all planes at once, has done so once. Sees the future and the past as part of the dimensions of the object called 'Pellios'. Thought to be a combination of Bahamut and Tiamat. Priests can be of any alignment and draconic heritage is not a requirement. Paladins are Dragon Disciple Prestige Class.

Zifnab - The Merchant God. Often called the Skin Dragon, he is depicted as a dragon with a quilted skin of what seems to be human flesh. The stories in the East (Agoria) describe him as having a store in every city that only those in need may find. Has played a major role in opposing Kharsis' advance north into Agoria. Is said to have invented money.

The House of Charnuggen Charnuggen - The Lord of the Scales, god of Justice and Wisdom in War. Ensures that the law is enforced. Acted as Patron Deity after the Forsaking until the rebirth of the Dragon God. Priests of Charnuggen are called Magistrates and in many places form the higher echelons of the town guard and the judicial system. Magistrates can detect lies at will. Paladins are the Justiciar Prestige Class.

Mask - Patron goddess of thieves, goddess of feminine deceit and trickery. Sister of Charnuggen. Opposes her brother's commitment to the law and openly opposes it. Both represent the eternal struggle between law and crime. Most Thieves' Guilds pay tithes to the church of Mask. Priests (Theiel) are always female, paladins (Tamar, Assassin Prestige Class) are always male.

Mushai - god of Darkness and Evil. Twin brother of Charnuggen and mortal enemy. Opposes his brother's ambivalent denial of morality in the pursuit of law and represents the struggle for the law to become absolute and therefore innately corrupt. Lord of the legions of the Lawful Evil Infernals of the Nine Hells. Priests are always necromantic and paladins are the Blackguard Prestige Class.

Glot - the Dealmaker, Guardian of the Gates of Hell. Patron Deity of lawyers, moneylenders, landlords, tax men and swindlers. Horribly deformed bastard son of Mask and Charnuggen, result of interference by Mushai. Opposes the machinations of all the other deities and his gospel(story) represents the consequences of all manner of societal sins: Incest, sibling rivalry, Oedipus complexes, greed, lust, bigotry and racism. Prists are called Barristers and often challenge the authority of the Magistrates of Charnuggen, sometimes leading to violence. Paladins of Glot are unheard of. Perhaps extremely well paid mercenaries. Glot is depicted as a morbidly obese male with stumps for legs, his massive body completely blocking the way to the afterlife. Through political maneuvering and shaking of the right hands and the greasing of the palms of others, Glot managed to gain influence over the fate of every soul in Pellios. One day, every single creature must stand and be judged by Glot. He decides where you end up in your final resting place (plane?) Adventurers typically meet with Barristers to exchange currencies and buy exotic items or services. Locals use barristers to draw up binding contracts of services.

House of Liet Lliadru - god of Nature, the Green Man. Once an elf, Lliadru was the first mortal to ascend to divinity. worshipped by many elves and half elves, but there are some humans who also worship him. His priests are actually Druids. Paladins use the Arcane Archer prestige class.

House of Bakhsmet Bailor - god of Travelers. Once mortal as well, his stories of travelling the known world are legendary. Every sea tale, monster tale or dragon tale of the most epic caliber are about Bailor of Bakhsmet. He is the Beowulf and Hercules of Pellios. Extremely popular deity. Priests are called Wardens and paladins are the Horizon Walker Prestige Class.

Bane - not actually a god, but a philosophy, a way of life. Bane's philosophy is something combining socratic thought with zen practices. His followers treat him lsimilar to Buddha. Martial arts is taught as a method of meditation and clarity of the spirit. The overarching theme is self reliance. Priests of Bane are the Monk basic class.
Paladins are higher level Monks. Bane was a half brother of Bailor. Deceased.

Akmed - the Saint of the Sea. Half brother to Bailor and captain of the vessel that took Bailor across the sea. Just about all sea people follow Akmed. Bloody pirates. Priests are basically priests of Bailor with more specialization. They are always on board a ship, and the crew call them Bos'n. (pronounced "B-oh-sin")

Individual Deities Ore - God of the Earth, the Keeper of the Rift. Ore is a dwarven deitiy primarily but is not only worshipped by dwarves. He is the god of Duty, Honor and the responsibility of capability. It is Ore who sits in the center of Pellios and holds the mana rift closed. Without him, life would be impossible to sustain. Whenever there is an Earthquake, Ore is adjusting his grip and mana trickles out, pushing the earth out a little.

Mastik - God Of War. Patron deity of people who want to spend their lives killing. He is the bringer of the Sword and the Flame. Used to be mortal. Called Army Killer. Called God Slayer. Took on the mantle of the dead god of War while still mortal. Confiscated a plane of Hell as evidence. Carved his way into the Celestial Court, never ascended. Brings balance through equalization. Rules over the knightly order Knights Inquisitor.

Saye - God of the Dead. This is the man in the boat who takes you down the river Styx and deposits you on the Shore of Vallili where you stand in line awaiting Glot's judgement. If you were not given the proper funeral rites(established by your local customs), especially the burned incense and the coins(the only two things that are the same everywhere), Saye cannot locate your spirit and you wander the foggy banks of the Styx until you either fade away or follow the river up and out into Pellios where you become a spectre. They say that inherently good people shine with an inner light that allows Saye to find them no matter where they are. Saye has few priests and no paladins.

Maratul - the god of Lies. Presides over the breaking of the oath and the passing over from the honest to the dishonest. Whenever a lie is told, a small prayer is said to Maratul. In recent years, more and more members of thieves' guilds have become followers of Maratul. Perhaps as much as 20%.

Irithnil - the god of Neutrality, the Infinite Coils. Irithnil is not from the realm of Pellios. It is something different. It exists "in the spaces between the planes". It offers safety within ambivalence, Protection within the coils at the price of one day being caught within them. The Gospel of Irithnil says that death within the coils is the ultimate fate of the universe and is unavoidable. Serving Irithnil guarantees that existence will be more endless than the rest, being allowed to exist inside the god in the afterlife. A god for fence-sitters and goths.

Kharsis - the scion of Darkness. God of Hatred and Fear. His realm exists for the sole purpose of blotting out the light of the world. He is hatred and oppression made substance. Borne of a vile union between a heretical drow priestess (one of the first drow) and a terrible fiendish black dragon, Kharsis' birth was foretold. His daughter is the Hag Countess, the mother of night hags. Priests are called Scions and typically shoot for True Necromancer and paladins are usually things like Death Knights, corrupt paladins of other deities.

Herzoule - The Flayed One, god of Chaos. This is the living incarnate of Chaos. In other game worlds, one might call him the plane Limbo. On Pellios, Limbo is conscious and desires to destroy everything. According to Herzoule's gospel, destruction is inevitable and encouraged by the universe, therefore it is not a bad thing to destroy. Priests of Herzoule are called Defilers and are extremely rare.

Zydar - the Storm Bringer. God of Weather. A vengeful and angry god depicted wearing blackened platemail. His Sword, Atreva, fires lightning at his foes. He is the reason that the Great Desert is a desert. He is also the reason why the rivers flood every other year. Angering him can have swift consequences.

Trush-Nicinct - god of Treants. Venerated by unicorns and other nature spirits.
Yeenoghu - The Dog God. Presides over the inevitable corruption of civilization into ruin. Patron God of Kobolds and Yuan-ti.
Gruumsh - God of Orcs and orcish things.
Kalpetit - The Warlord. God of Hobgoblins.
Lolth - Demon Queen of Spiders.
Demogorgon - Lord of the Abyss.

I didn't say it aloud..I don't think I did anyways

But just as a note Kilton is aware that this new philosophy would be considered heresy and will mull it over more as the game continues...look for a multiclass into cleric sometime in the near future and a new religion. (ooh that idea makes me excited)

That's true

you didn't say anything aloud. Hide your feelings deep, Luke. They could be made to serve the dark side...

Just checking...

Just wondering where we're at with this game? I know you are without a computer, Shaithis, so your access is limited. Any timeline on when you might be back with fuller access?

I also know Christmas is around the bend and life is likely to get a bit busy for everyone. Wondering if it's time to shelf this for a bit as we seem to be losing momentem.

Let us know what's going on, man!

What's up?

As was said earlier, I know there are computer issues, but a timeline would be nice. What's up?

I think those of us on the ship are just hanging around waiting for an update, or is there something else we should be doing?
