To boldly go (again) where no one has gone before...

As you may know, I am the webmaster of the RPG site, yet I have not been actively involved in an RPG for months. This may continue; right now, I am merely testing the waters, so to speak.

I have participated in three Star Trek games here at the Inn - all three have been immensely enjoyable, but all three have fizzled (largely due to the GM flaking out - warning! I was that GM twice). Despite that fizzling, these games have been the type that cause me to anxiously await every post, and they have brought out some of the best creative writing the Inn has seen.

Trek gaming is basically regulated freeform - you may post pretty much anything you like, but while you may create your own subplots, you are expected to follow the main storyline that the GM (who plays the captain of the ship) has laid out. Wouldn't be a lot of fun to have everyone warping the ship off in space, causing catastrophes that affect everyone, etc.

Anyway, my post here is to gauge interest in possibly reviving the U.S.S. Discovery (a Galaxy-class vessel). I would set this game a good two years further along than the last plot to fully allow for a reset of the crew where needed... though old veterans are OBVIOUSLY encouraged to return. This would place us at around season five of Star Trek: the Next Generation.

I'd like to do two posts per week, if we can manage that - but no less than one post per week. Please note that you don't have to know vast amounts about Star Trek to be able to play (though sure, it helps)... I can be geek enough for all of us, and I'm happy to help out with characters, questions, etc.

Also, please note that Trek posts are formatted a bit, but we can cross that bridge later, if the interest is there.

To play, you'll need to come up with a character concept and bio, and I'll need to approve it. Almost every department/specialty is available (save marines... we have none).

Okay, that's enough for now. If there is sufficient interest, we may try putting together a game.

Crew needs: First Officer - Alacrity Chief Tactical Officer - Eol Fefalas Chief Science Officer - Reralae Chief Engineer - Merideth Helmsman - Dragonblood Chief Medical Officer - Night Monkey
Crew that would be really nice to have: Chief Operations Officer - Baron Chief of Security
Ship's Counselor - Glory of Gallifrey Additional officers in any department - emybear450, Ion Kired, Dragon Mistress

I have been asked what I'm looking for. We use a standardized form for character data. You don't have to provide everything at once, but here are the items on it:

Name
Species (usually human)
Gender
Date of Birth (current year is 236
Birthplace (city and state/province, or colony/starbase, etc)
Height
Weight
Eye Color
Hair Color

Physical Description

Family and Background info

Education (college, starfleet academy info, etc)

Service record (date of promotions, commendations, etc. I can help as needed)

Medical History (if anything significant to report)

Commendations and reprimands (if any)

Special skills or ratings (if any)

Personal Bio (as detailed as you like)

lol...

Just checking... I hate being gnawed on by zombies. And yes I agree... I did a little on ST:OP before it died and I loved it.

Trek is such a fun world.

Well if you are testing the waters I'll be the first one to stick their toe in.

So...

This fits in with the ST:OP timeline somehow? I could potentially bring Sojourn back? I loved her... would be fun to have her 'grow up' some...
Oh now you got the gears turning...

well...

It would actually be a few years BEOFRE ST:OP (Eol's game).

This would be back in the days before MacTavish got his first command.

LOL

Yeah... like back in the day when Mac was pretty sure he'd never sit in the big chair.

Old school, angry, blustering Mac! I loooooooove the very thought of it.

no lie

Cap'n Mac had to control his temper a bit. Mac from "back in the day" would have pushed several Romulans out of the nearest airlock.

Yep, as a commander, Mac was really just a teddy bear.
