Olan actually said the ship has no marines (MACOs) in his opening post. It was a pretty small note, quite easy to overlook, but I believe it was there.. in the line where he writes "Crew welcome from any department, save marines (the ship doesn't have any).

Is the post of Chief Medical Officer still open?

On that note, which department is in charge of security?

I have just submitted two psuedo-NPCs for the crew. One is the barkeep for Ten Forward and the other is a noncom Security officer.

I have decided to take a more minor role in the Discovery, and let some fresh meat play the big guys. So to answer your question, the Chief Medical Officer is still available as far as I know.

Edit: Oops! Should have mentioned that "historically" TAC and Security have been the same department... one portion of the overall group being assigned to security and the other, smaller portion taking the role of the "gold suits that push the fire button on the bridge"... In past Discovery games Mac has taken the helm of TAC "specifically" and been given "oversight" of Security as a "unit" of the TAC department... I'm sure there'll be a Chief of Security...

...hopefully without stepping on toes!

BRIANNA: As it stands, Olan doesn't have anyone listed as Chief Medical Officer. Not sure ifanyone has sent in an application for the position, but you sure could too!

DRAGON MISTRESS: What Eol said... I'm sure a "Chief of Security" would make a fine addition...so long as you're cool with fallin' in line with Miggidy-miggidy-Mac. (Personally, he scares me... )

Like I said, I don't know what Olan's received by PM yet... so... you know...

I have pitched my guy to be Chief of Security (akin to Chief O'brien and his relationship to Engineering) answering to Mac. I had assumed though that Ol Blustery was indeed the officer in command. My guy is a Chief Petty Officer, and as an enlisted would be unable to assume "command" of a department, but could still be placed in a senior staff position as a department head under an officer (again akin to Obrien.)

I came over from the GitP boards, where tcatt was trying to do a bit of recruiting. I'd love to fill the role of CMO with a Vulcan doctor named Solkar. I used him in a previous (-very- short lived game) and grew fond of the guy. If this is acceptable I shall post further details on him.

I guess I'll join, I'll get to work on it. Heh... I'm just gonna be a Ensign in the Medical Department.

I was planning on security, but my girl is loosely based of my Mom, so I went medical instead

I do have a question, Would A CMO start in Star fleet or start out as a Doctor and then go into Star Fleet. I dSon't have enough background knowledge of that position to know for sure. If she started out as as a Doctor I do have a reason for her to go into Star Fleet as a full fledged Doctor.

In the recent Trek film, McCoy is seen joining Starfleet after being a Doctor. However, this appears to have been a last ditch desperate move on his part, and thus may not be the orthodox career pattern for a Starfleet medical officer.

If CMO is being bagsied, then I might play Solkar as a lower level officer (although the Medical department may get pretty crowded then).
