Loaded Dice #40: the Wisdom of Han Solo

Today's update - the Christmas strip - is FINALLY up and live. All fault on me, Tiana had it done in time, but I missed it due to holiday insanity.

I loved this script quite a lot. *I* think it's hilarious, feel free to disagree (and as always, please comment and criticize here!).

If you like Loaded Dice, please reddit the comic - this is such a great way to expose us to new users.

I think the 5th panel should be Olan's new avatar XD

Priceless. Lolkat has a gift when it comes to cartoon expressions.

I don't get it

I just have to say, I don't get this comic. Why? I blame the fact that I don't know what they are talking about when they say "Dirty Santa". I guess it is some kind of a game, but I've never heard of it.

Anyone care to elaborate?

Dirty Santa

You're right Skari, "Dirty Santa" is a game of sorts... usually played at office parties, among gaming groups, etc... the way it works is, there are presents enough for the number of people playing and, as you no doubt saw in the strip, it is somehow determined which of the participants gets to go first. Once this is done, that first person gets to pick one of the presents and open it. Then, the next person has the option of "stealing" the first person's present or picking from amongst the ones that are yet unopened... If person #2 steals the present from person #1, person #1 then gets to pick another unopened present, I beleive... anyway, the game continues until all the presents have been opened and/or stolen... hilarity typically ensues.

I think I got that right, anyway...

Loved the strip, too...

aha

I guess that I should post the rules for the game on my comments for the comic.

Dirty Santa works like this: everyone brings a wrapped gift - often a gag or joke gift, or a gift around a given theme. Numbers are drawn to determine the order in which gifts are opened.

On your turn, you can either choose to open a new gift, or steal a gift that someone else has opened. The person who has their gift stolen must either open a new gift or steal from someone else (but they may not steal their gift back from you). Often, a limit is placed on the number of thefts per round.

It's a lot of holiday fun.
