Greetings...

...and Salutations.

I am new to this site, but hardly to gaming. I've spent my time in the trenches of RPGA Guild Judge through the golden age of gaming (Read: 1st & 2nd Edition), have dabbled through the multiverse of D&D, and aside from an occasional foray into WH40k or Champions/M&M; have remained on the warpath with D&D.

I am not looking for a new site so much as one with a larger pool of players. There comes a time when you're running games with the same players that creativity can sour. I am used to daily (weekdays) postings and the occasional IRC to delve into topics on a game at hand.

I presume too much by thinking this site is the same format of PbP, so I will do my due diligence before posting a recruitment. I am presently interested in either 3.5 or Pathfinder versions of D&D and have a large enough library to accommodate my desires.

Thanks!
- MD

Haha! Without warning at last!

Welcome to the Inn, Mithral! Apologies, of course, for the facelick being the first thing you're greeted with, but, lately, people seem to get warned about it before I can spring. I'm soooo happy to have gotten here first.

Anyhoo... random insanity and slobbery oddness aside... we're always glad to have new Innmates join our cast and crew. If there's anything that any of us can do to help you find your way around the site, answer questions about "posting conventions" or whatever, don't hesitate to give us a shout... drop a PM, post up a thread, whatever... I'm sure you'll find that most everyone around here, staff and regulars alike, are more than happy to lend a hand or offer an opinion.

facelicked

Alas, I was warned via a link to the origins of the facelick, which was comedic enough to prompt my joining herein.

I've read through the resources on this site for posting, and once I crack my knuckles on a recruitment post I daresay I shall be preparing for a new game! :o

That is assuming the following:
1) I post here (read: http://www.rdinn.net/view_cat.php?catid=, that I'm recruiting / OOC
2) Once I have players, I create a new thread (same locale) for the I/C portion?

3) Am I mistaken, or is there no post formatting? Bold, Italics, font-color, size, or imbedding (links, images, etc)?!

Yes indeed...

When proposing a new game and seeking players your best bet is to tack up a post in the Recruitment Forum. Once you've gathered your players, you'll want to start your actual game thread in the appropriate category (which, in your case, is likely going to be the Rules Based D&D forums, and you may also want to add a Q&A thread (to keep overlong OOC conversations and commentary, etc out of your game thread, of course).

Now, as to bold, italics, etc... those are allowed on the boards ya just gotta have a few handy html tags to make it happen... Our dear Innmate Scarab has created this thread specifically to show you how to do that.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for us, MD... Once again, welcome aboard.

Wow...

Are you really saying that you read the thread about Eol facelicking people and then decided to join in this insanity?

You're a keeper!
Looks like you are already jumping in the deep end of the pool with tryin to run a game too! Very impressive. We've had a few new faces around here do that recently, tis very exciting!

Oh... as for the format issue, Eol gave you that link as to how to do fancy stuff. But as for the 'rules' on when and how to use them that really is up to the DM for the game he is running. Star Trek games are usually pretty regulated by the DM (see the Q&A for 'No Good Deed' for an example of what I mean). Others can be pretty loose. Just something you'll have to decide and post up for your players to follow.

Most of our games post on a weekly basis, but like most things that is not always the case. And yeah might not be like some of the other sites you've been to but we like to think we are full of creativity and friendliness around here so hopefully you find another home amongst us!

Welcome welcome...

p.s. If you think the facelick was bad wait until you get hugged by Olan for saying you like 2e...

p.s.s. Don't get caught feeding the Grugg

M.

hehe don't get caught

It's changed form don't feed the Grugg to don't get caught.
If Meri catches you Yoda's discovered that giving her sugar will convince her to bounce the other way.

Hi I'm another one of the quirky peoples here. Welcome!

Ion your statment implies that we have 'non-quirky' people in here... who let them in? I was not informed.

Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome, one and all.

I've hacked and slashed through the posting of a 2nd edition game. Once I test the waters on recruitment and reactions I'll look into a 3.5 or Pathfinder game. I wont be doing much in the way of PC-ing though, and hope that's not a bother. I've preferred the DM hat for quite sometime now.

btw: I see there's a Chat Board; is there IRC information relevant to that? Server / Room?
