Almost

The guard has taken minor damage from a magic missile cast by Echo. Other than that, I think you pretty much covered it.

drawing maps

A map, or any other image for that matter, can be put on the site through use of html, from any external source, as long as you know the url to the image.

type in <*IMG SRC="address here"*> but lose the *s.

So with <*IMG SRC="http://www.rdinn.net/images/2k3logo.gif"> (but without the *, you get:

hmmm

I'd say: Get creative, make a photobucket account, or some other free image-hostery. That's what I do for images that I use in games.

Physics question

My water Domain spell is Icicle, which is a ranged touch attack at thirty feet that causes 1d6+1/2 cleric levels of damage, my question is if I shot it at an inanimate object, say a lock, will it just do damage, or will it make the metal brittle as if it were frozen and sticking a bar through it would easily snap it. Just wondering?

I see a new name in the player roster, will Shades331 be joining us? Yay for new players

Answer

If I remember the spell correctly (as I don't have the book in front of me) the damage is more or less split between cold and piercing (though I could be wrong). Also, it wouldn't be exposed to the cold long enough for it to cause significant embrittlement.

The cold damage would (however) bypass the lock's hardness rating... and the more I think about it, depending on the damage I roll for it if you do it, I might reduce the overall hardness of the lock (effectively making it more brittle) just because it is a creative idea.

I will warn however, that if there is a trap associated with that lock, attacking it could potentially trigger it. Just a warning to be fair.

As far as Shades331 goes, he will be joining us. I will leave the when and how to be played out in game however.

sure

I thought about a trap, but we have to take risks. Crowe ices the lock down a bit, I'll perform the slam (having the highest refl save).

Clarification

Is the lock a padlock that is external to the door, or is the lock built into the door? Also is this a vertical door that has some steps behind it, or is the door built into the floor and opens up?

More Answers

It is more or less built into the floor (similar to a storm cellar in a house). And the lock is a padlock external to the door itself, though the handles are forged iron, bolted to the doors rather sturdily.

so...

do I have to post that I attempt a second bash, with Argent's foot perhaps this time, or is a message in the Q/A enough?

Blacksmithing

With Argent and my blacksmithing knowledge would we be able to ascertain if the padlock is very weak, and maybe sticking the handle of the hammer through it and twisting it would snap it right off?
