I have been looking through my life (little note/sketchboks) and found lots of Characters and sketches and alltogether random fantasy, so I put them together and got a L33t story made of wierd fragments I am stuck with.." The young worrior looks across a battle field,weeping softly,she dreams of before"..... maybe not so graphic.......could lose my pics and write a regular novel or......yeah.......im a loser.......

Have confidence in yourself.

I have drawings and sketches I made when I was younger. Character profiles, short poems, and stories too. All of this is in a binder and I keep it there and add to it when I can. It is a story I have been working on for years. If I can ever blend it all together i think it will make a great series of books. Some day I will get it done.

Don't give up on something creative it is the best way to express yourself. And never ever think that you aren't good enough.

I had confidence issues when I was younger. The best advice I can give is that no matter what anyone else thinks of you always be yourself. What really matters is that you are happy with you. Don't try to be what others want you to be.

I used to try to be what everyone else wanted. To get them to like me and be my friends. When I realized it made me feel bad I stopped. I started becoming me again and I found people liked that more and I ended up with a lot more friends. Those friends cared about me and ultimately helped me gain confidence.

As of right now u r my best friend.......ifs that all right....

So about this magic beginning.... origin of all magic or a particular character learning magic, what are you trying to go for?

Im not really sure it started off i was telling my girlfriend stories and she was acting like a sound bourd and she said " ______, YOU NEED MAGIC IN THERE SOMEWHERES" so Iv been trying to add fantasy with warrior type people....Im not very good at the story line but my arts decent i might try to see if I could post some sooner or later....

...as Dak said, Accalia, you're definitely in the right place to maybe kick up a nugget of inspiration or two. Hang around and browse, jump in a game or two... heck, start up a game or two... and before too awful long, I'm sure, you'll find that you've got more than a pocketful of sparkly nuggets of inspiration and imagination...

As to the embarrassment/nervousness/confidence thing; don't let it get to you and don't ever feel like you're being judged by anyone hereabouts. Like you said, yourself, you're young and "new" and looking for a firm path to put your feet on, yeah? Everyone starts somewhere, little miss and I'm pretty sure that everyone, in their beginnings, had similar thoughts and concerns ("Geez! That sucks!" or "Crap! Why can't I get this to come out right? I'm such a loser!") The thing is, whether we started years and years ago or just yesterday, I'm sure we can all look back at those first steps we took towards writing, drawing, storytelling, or whatever and say "Wow! I've come a loooooong way since then, haven't I? And, you know, even though I thought that story (picture, whatever) kind of sucked, then, I can look at it now and see how it grew from that rather lackluster little seed into this WORLD SHAKING EPIC TRIUMPH that I've got going, now!"

Point being - Each footstep is a beginning and an end; there is no path, only the journeying.

Keep on keeping on, little lady, and, if you need help or inspiration, just give a shout... one of our fabulous Innmates will always come running to offer insight and encouragement... I can practically guarantee it.

Confidence issues blow! I had a few myself, but like everyone said, you just need to get out there and make friends! If you think something you are going to say sounds stupid, well my advice is post it anyway and see what kind of response you get! If its a bad response, well then you know not to do it again, but if its a good one then you are off to a great start!

As for the inspiration...I might be able to help with that! at any rate I can give your pieces over to some friends and what not and they could give you idea's about it too!

Hey its cool, its what I do best!

You see, I just know I'm the best already so I get my confidence from that knowledge.

Seriously though, I began not far from where you are now. Now I've started my own publishing company and published my first game book (The Realms of Twilight Campaign Setting, available for $40 + S&H at the end of the month). I have plans for a novel trilogy and various supplements in hopes that my book sells. if it doesn, well that sucks. But that just means I can try my hand at being a full-time novelist and lay off the game books for a bit (until I can generate more sales and interest in my world of course).

Like Eol said, we all have started somewhere. And besides, it's not the destination that counts, it's the journey right? I dreamed years ago that I would write a book about the world I created. I've learned alot, edited alot, spent alot and more but now I'm only 3-4 weeks from holding that dream in my hand. The knowledge I gained on the way allows me to work on many other projects as well as giving me insight into the gaming industry and good business and marketing practices in general.

Everyone can succeed, if they try hard enough. Don't let yur own confidence stop you. After all, generally speaking you are your own worst critic.

You can do it Accalia! Get out there and write. Writing will help everything. Just formulating ideas and jotting them down in strange patterns can help.
